There's always the "ATM" with its "cough, cough" low fees

Actually could be an option, depending his bank's / credit union's account perks. Lots of banks, and I think CU's in particular (because they don't really ever have branch ATMs widely available), will reimburse all ATM fees each month as long your account meets a minimum avg daily balance or you're part of whatever "premium" program they offer.

As much as I relish arriving super early, it is nice to go straight to your room to drop off all your junk.

I start to think that is the way to go unless I want to invest in the key and store my bag. We usually come early but I hate to go around with my bag (which has the two bottles of wine) and after we eat in WJ we just want the rooms to be open already . Enjoy the cruise , the room looks amazing

That was our exact same room on Indy!  Loved the space and the kids really enjoyed that separate room.

The motion was more noticeable though and it was loud when the ship docked.

Enjoy the weekend!  Looking forward to some great scopes from everyone.

I’m pretty sure we did a similar room on Navigator a number of years ago and recall motion being more noticeable there too.

Something I’ve never seen before. I went but to sign up for a Voom account. I didn’t prepay because with my diamond plus discount, it’s cheaper to buy it on the ship on a 3 night cruise.

I went to select which plan I wanted and saw this option. I could be wrong, but I swear I did not pre purchase voom.

Based on this screen, I guess I must have pre purchased. Even if I did, I don’t recall ever seeing this as an option when you create a new account. I’ll wait for @twangster to correct me or confirm I’m living in the future.

Sometimes I've seen an extra "free" day if you purchase the full voyage package on boarding day.  Varies by ship.

Kind of debunks my buying Voom on day two strategy  :)

This is from Ovation 10 night sailing.  Note the "High Speed + 1 day FREE".

However in your case it specifically says Prepaid.

Ships are doing away with codes.  One less thing to distribute.  When you sign in it knows you pre-purchased it.

That's the same screen I got when trying to create my account. Although mine came with the suite.

Since we departed, there has been some serious motion in the ocean. The captain said it was a combination of the effect of Hurricane Humberto and a high pressure system. It’s not terrible l, but now and then you get a big wave that feels like we swerved to miss a whale.

The captain had to make a follow-up announcement that it should start getting better by 1am.

Dinner tonight is at Jamie’s Italian. Made a reservation onboard and had no issues getting the time I wanted.

I ordered a glass of wine and the waiter brought the bottle and let me have it all.  Umm, ok!

Matt....Do you have a separate bedroom apart from the bunk beds? That's a killer size room!

Yes, there’s a giant common area as you walk in. Our bedroom is to the left and kids bedroom is to the right.  They have an actually door, whereas we have a curtain separating our room.

@Steve L you have to choose carefully when you book these 1K cabins. They are all configured differently. We had the one that @Matt has. The 1K next door on deck 8 is different in that the common area is smaller and the master has a door instead. Go up another deck to 9 and they look more like Junior suites with the bunks in the walk closet area instead with a curtain that separates it. This category really varies.

List of things I’ve forgotten so far:

All our cash.  It’s on the kitchen counter.  That might be a problem, but only port is CocoCay so I think we will be okay.

Casino time may be reduced, however.

Charge on the slots to your room.  Hit collect on the slot machine.  Redeem ticket.  Cash issue solved and more credit card points for you!

Today is a sea day and it’s mostly cloudy and very breezy.  The best news is the motion in the ocean has gotten so much better.  By 1am the conditions improved dramatically.

Meet slept in and rolled out of bed around 9ish for a leisurely breakfast in the Windjammer.

After breakfast the kids went to Adventure Ocean and we found friends up at the Sky Bar.

I had to make a visit to guest relations as my account seemed to be a cash account for some reason

Originally I wanted to have lunch at Playmakers but true to form, that restaurant does not have enough staffing and we left before the meal could begin.  It seems each time we are on Mariner, there aren’t enough waiters to keep things moving, which is unfortunate.

Instead, we ate lunch in the main dining room.  There was a great menu and the lovely Tutti Salad bar option plus pasta station.

During lunch, the captain announced we will head to Fort Lauderdale to drop off a passenger for medical needs. Should be there around 4pm and be in port for less than an hour.

That is exactly what we did. Oddly the cashier in the casino wouldn’t cash us directly. She directed us to the machines.

Gotta love the Tutti Salad bar!

Never considered having lunch in the main dining room. Does that take place every day or just on seas days when everyone is on board? We always head over to the Windjammer......that spread looks worthwhile to give it a try. Thanks for the pics and the heads up.! We are on Mariner of the Seas in two weeks so really enjoyed your live blog on facebook on departure day and all these pics....

IMO one of the most overlooked meal options on sea days!

Lunch is served in MDR in sea days only.  And it’s a different menu!
