Amygs1
So, my Mom won us a cruise on Liberty that departs in 7days! I am so excited! Because we didn’t book this vacation and it’s part of a casino tour group, the flights and other travel details are mostly out of our control. I don’t live near my Mom (or the tour group’s starting point) so I am flying to Houston on 9/21 and then meeting the group on 9/22 (embarkation day) at the airport to join the “fun bus” from Houston to Galveston. Here’s where the cross your fingers part comes in: the tour group flight doesn’t land in Houston until 11am! Even if everything goes right with flight time, luggage retrieval, loading the bus, I figure that puts us in Galveston at 1:30pm (at best!) Liberty sails at 4pm. From reading these forums, I’m getting super nervous about the tight time schedule. So, I’m asking for good vibes, prayers, finger crossing, positive ju-ju- whatever it is you do! (Does the ship ever wait if it’s a large group that is delayed?)
Momof4crazytocruise
Which airport?
WAAAYTOOO
Congratulations on the GREAT prize ! Yikes, I would be very nervous about this itin as well. Even if they are flying into HOU (vs IAH) that is going to be a very tight schedule with NO room for any type of error or delay. From where are they (the rest of the group) flying ? Is it a 1 leg itin ? I will definitely send my good thoughts your way. I'm sure it will be fine...but nerve-wracking. Here's the real question....if they are all stuck somewhere and miss the ship can you board and sail without them ?
Amygs1
Hobby airport (HOU) The group is coming from Oregon (and I think they have one connecting flight) I *think* I could board by myself, but wouldn’t want to. I’d rather join my Mom in the mess and try to treat disaster as adventure! Kerry

I would do the same
CrznTxn
If the casino set up the "fun bus" with Royal then the ship will wait if there are delays. If it is an independent bus trip you should still be ok arriving from Houston Hobby at the pier at 1:30pm. The travel agent should make sure that everyone gets things moving along. The only issue would be the weather but next weekend looks good. Have fun, we are on Liberty in four weeks with kids and grand kids.
Suzanne
You should be ok coming in at Hobby. There is lots of road construction on the way down to Galveston, but I’m sure the driver is aware. The traffic can be iffy, depending on the day and time. Have fun! Liberty is a great ship. redraider629
Keeping my fingers crossed for you. We are getting on Liberty the day you will be getting off. Have a blast!
monctonguy
Free cruise is awesome..tight schedules are not! Saving grace is it sounds like its through Royal that this is all booked so that should help if there are delays?! Realistically you wont be on the bus and leaving HOU till 11:45am.....so at the port by 12:45pm.....so there is about a 2 hr window for delays along the way. MotleyCruiser
How many people on this bus??? 50...RCCL most likely will wait for 50 people. You should be fine even though there WILL be traffic in I45
dimysmith
Keep in close contact with the airlines, your mom and the cruise line. Galveston got hit pretty hard today with Tropical Storm Imelda. Both airports experienced an all stop for a period of time. It is going to take a couple of days to get things to normal in Houston. Have not heard horrible things about Galveston, just lots of rain and water on the roads. Have a great time...jealous.
Weezie57
Unless an accident on the road, it should only take you an hour to get from Hobby to the port.
