Hush, don't give out secrets for zero loss manufactured spending. Sorry ment, money taken out from the Casino is intended for use within the Casino...

This reminds me of the early days of loyalty programs in Vegas.  in the early 80's at the westward ho (long gone) they gave you a punch card and you got a punch for every 20 dollar's of coin you purchased,  I'd buy a 100,  pour them in my coin bucket and 10 minutes later go to the other side of the casino and cashed them in ,  rinse and repeat.   ?

Only thing im curious about though is if the credit card company find this suspicious or fraudulent?

Or would they not care as long as they get paid back lol

The charge goes through as a single charge from Royal Caribbean that is the sum of all the debits and credits to your onboard charge account.  I don't know what details Royal sends the credit card company with that charge, so I can't really say.  However, I do know folks will easily drop thousands on onboard spending between drink packages, excursions, dining packages, etc.  So a large charge from Royal Caribbean wouldn't really trigger them to take a second look at it based on the dollar amount alone.

We use our RCCL Visa on every cruise and usually have a final bill in the neighborhood of $20K depending upon the length of the cruise.  The CC company has never questioned the charges with the single exception of one cruise a few years back.  But even that one, it was not the amount, but simply the fact that they somehow thought the charges were elicit until we got it squared away (this is when Sebastian came to the rescue).

We get double points for all RCCL purchases, so that’s an easy $400 worth of OBC for basically doing nothing.  I don’t think the CC company cares. They hope we will run up a balance and not pay it off (which we NEVER do).  I’ve often worried that the ship would balk at us taking large sums of their cash off the ship but they never seem to mind so I guess it’s a win-win-win for everyone.  The ship gets a very high revenue number, the credit card company gets to charge Royal for the credit card transaction and hopes for some interest from us (which they don’t get) and we get our double points.

In addition to the cruise certs you can earn during you sailing and the free annual cruise based on tier level, there is a third benefit that I don't believe has been mentioned.  And that is the large amount of free cruise offers you will receive approx every 2 weeks.  I 'assume' that these mailings are based on some sort of segmentation so the frequency and value of each may vary per person....but we've been getting a lot of free junior suite (2), free balcony (3-4) and free interior (countless) offers in email and snail mail (they will appear on your club royal offers page as well) for the last couple of months.

So if you get a cert and none of the sailings fit....maybe you will luck out and get one in the mail that does. ?

Do you ever get pegged by customs about how much cash you have on you? Has only happened to me twice, out of around 20 cruises, "luckily" I lost on those trips lol

I try to be in a position to pay off all onboard stuff in cash at the end of the trip and have ended up buying some artwork the wife liked (that others have said is tacky...but hey...we like it ? ) on the rare occasion we do well enough over the course of a cruise that I would have had to worry about declarations.
