Cscianca
Prior to booking my cruise, I called and asked if I could bring certain items for my son (3 y.o.) since he is super picky and has gluten, soy, and dairy intolerances. After booking we were told we couldn’t bring his bread, which was something we specifically asked for. Does anyone have any experience with dietary restrictions with a little one? I’m concerned he won’t eat what is provided for him. His diet is basic and he could live off of pancakes/PB&J for a week.
ellcee
@Cscianca call Royal and ask someone else. If your child has allergies I’m not sure they would say no. They do have gluten free bread, I think Udi’s But I’d call again.
Cscianca
I was told they would make bread specifically for him. May of the gluten free bread/foods have soy, which is why their availability of gluten free foods isn’t necessarily the answer. The bread he uses is even is a sealed bag, not just the normal zip tie bag. Just frustrating that prior to booking I was told that is fine and now after booking it’s not. My concern is being stuck in the ship and my little dude refuses to eat what is provided. Honestly wouldn’t have booked if this was the answer we were give. MaryCS62
Factory sealed food is definitely allowed on board. First cruise we took w/ DD after her celiac dx, we brought GF crackers, a jar of PB, and GF snack/protein bars, in case she needed them. I would bring the bread with you, because even if they make it, you have no guarantee he'll like it -- and then what? The only problem is if you leave the ship, you are only allowed to bring factory sealed items off the ship, so you can't bring him a home made pbj off the ship. I would bring things he could eat in an emergency. I know a lot of GF items are also dairy free, since those intolerances/allergies sometimes go together, but soy also -- you have my sympathies.
