Oasis After Drydock

Recommended Posts

Originally for Thanksgiving I was going to go on NCL. However, The Casino offered my friends and I trade in credit and Oasis is having a special Single Supplement offer that was too good to pass up. So Now I am on Oasis for the first sailing after the Amped Drydock.. I am pretty excited and I am looking though the cruise planner.. I noticed the following: Still no Entertainment is available to book. I know I am still 97 days away but I am still hoping they get rid of Cats (but I am sure its just a scheduling issue).. Also The new BBQ place is not listed to be booked as of now. Although Sabor has been removed and not available to book. Anyway if anyone wants pictures let me know and I will try to take as many as possible.

Steph, Dan and I will be on the following week (1 Dec) and I do believe that there is a not-to-be-mentioned BOT on that same cruise with us.  When I booked this cruise I had absolutely no idea that it was the second cruise after dry dock.  I think if I were you and had the very FIRST cruise after dry dock I would be a bit nervous.  LOL

We are doing a S2S for this one.  Brilliance out of Tampa from Nov 25 - 30 (for Thanksgiving).  Then the next day we board Oasis (1-8 December).  We'll be Star Class on Oasis so I'm not EVEN going to try and figure out dining options at this point. That will be a job for the Genie !   I am certainly not holding my breath that they are going to replace Cats.  It's far too late for that at this point unless they've been holding that intel in TOP SECRET and nothing has leaked out yet....highly, highly unlikely.  I believe there is a complication with the license agreement and Royal was forced to hold it over...at least that's what I have read.

This was a casino comp for us too.  I upgraded to SC back before they changed the "rules" and upgrading became not-so-awesome.

Anyway, I'm glad you will be on ahead of us.  You can let us know what is finished and what they're still working on !!

I am on this sailing as well for the same solo supplement reason.  I wouldn't expect that we will get our entertainment too far ahead of the sailing because they are likely starting fresh and have to build the entertainment schedule and activities from the ground-up rather than recycle old entertainment templates.  The new BBQ place almost looks like it is going to have the same structure as Playmakers, so ala carte without needing reservations so it may never show up.  I saw Sabor is gone as well but the guacamole making class still lives on.

Raye, its so funny you brought up about maybe the sailing not happening because that's exactly what my friends and I talked about this morning.. We think its a 50/50 lol BUT we are so lucky we all live in south Florida that as long as they give us alittle notice like even 2-3 weeks I think we could find another sailing.. We do A Thanksgiving cruise every year and for some reason it doesn't cost as much as Christmas or seem to sell out as fast so I am hoping if they do cancel we could jump on something else.. But this single supplement deal plus a lot of casino money made it an easy decision for me. I am so glad you got to upgrade to Star Class before they changed the rules I hate how they keep changing everything.. I remember when I could of got a casino rate plus use my dollar off discount I miss that too lol.. I have a handicap balcony for this cruise because I need to rent a scooter for this cruise so it makes it easier. I am jealous you have the genie one day I will get one lol. I am of course getting the Unlimited dining but I was nervous about Thanksgiving so I went ahead and booked chops and then I am going to ask them if they will give it back to me onboard in the form of OBC. I will absolutely update everyone with what's finished and what they are still working on. I hope they finish all the new restaurants. I also wish they would of done to Giovannis what they are doing to it on Allure but maybe they ran out of money because of that whole dry dock fiasco. Anyways have fun on Brilliance at least you know that one is absolutely going to happen lol.

I noticed that too about the guac class.. I think they will end up canceling it. There won't be anywhere to have it.

As many pictures as you can post would be fantastic. We will be sailing her in April...looking forward to the up grades. We have Symphony coming up shortly; and, although Oasis will present many of the same venues we will experience on Symphony...Oasis holds a special spot, in our hearts, simply because, it was our 1st experience with Royal...oh, so long ago. We were NCL cruisers for the longest...still cruise them from time2time; but, cruise Royal alot more over the last decade than Norwegian. So yes, let the pics flow. ?

Actually, we are both poker players but are not involved in the RPT this time. Dan was in it years ago. Not particularly thrilled to find out that this is the RPT Cruise. It was a circus the year we went. But it is what it is.  I know it’s held the first or second week in Dec but didn’t realize it was on Oasis this year.  Oh well. The casino will be a zoo.

ALSO, JUST IN CASE YOU GET ON ANOTHER RPT CRUISE.....  They are saying now that they set aside a conference room for the RPT now.   Because the Casino cannot be opened except for time when they are at sea.   They are planning 4 days tournament, approximately 6 hours per day.   I am in it next year, and I am considering playing really hard the first day and if I loss, then I enjoy the rest of the cruise and if I am winning, then I would have to be winning pretty big.   so we will see.....

The time that we went, the event was on Liberty (this was before the O class ships !!!!) and they had the event in the conference room.  I assumed that's how they did all of them....but maybe not.  We are also on Oasis next year in early December (December 6 - 13).  This is precisely what Dan did...played hard on Day 1, went out and then we enjoyed the cruise stress-free !

Is your next Oasis cruise your Grand Panoramic Suite?  Anxious to hear your opinion.  -Bob

We are in a Grand Panoramic Suite on this year’s Oasis Cruise (1 Dec 2019) and in a Star Loft Suite on next year’s Oasis Cruise (6 Dec 2020).  We’ve sailed in Star Loft Suites before but it will be our first cruise in one of Panoramic suites up on 17.  My only concern is the rather smallish balcony of the GPS. The big balconies are normally a big selling point for us but I’m sure we’ll manage ??. I am happy to try the single floor suite. I’m not all that fond of the loft suites stairs even though the openness of the 2 stories is very impressive. If I end up liking the GPS this year I may switch over to either the GPS again or the OPS for our Dec 2020 cruise (assuming they are still available, of course). If I am turned off by the small balcony I will just keep the SLS and slug out the stairs.
