kittysoul
When you go into one of the specialty shops onboard ... like the high end makeup shop or candy shop or handbag store... do you take your cash or credit card directly into those stores and pay for the stuff.. or do you shop with your Seapass thing in the stores too? It might be a dumb question, but haven't been yet, and people always say that you use that card for everything, but i thought, surely not when shopping in a name brand store or whatever...? As Sabrina said, with your seapass card. But be smart, for decades they had the advantage of telling you something was a good deal but since you didn’t have WiFi you couldn’t check. kittysoul
ellcee
You didn't ask this so my apologies for inserting my opinion, save your $$ for something you really want. As a girl who loves handbags and makeup, I found the prices higher than necessary. I wound up buying makeup in Nassau off the ship and paying comparable US prices. If not, YOLO! kittysoul, Lovetocruise2002 and ChessE4 2

I agree with the other comments with one caveat: occasionally the shops actually have something unique you will never see again. I can recall cuff links with an exotic seashell as well as purses with an unusual mosaic decoration. My wife and I never saw these items again, and luckily, we purchased them as gifts for our dear friends. Now we wish we had doubled up for ourselves! You will still pay a mark up for the ship's stores, but never say never, just in case you find that one item at a reasonable price that you will treasure. My wife totally agrees not to buy cosmetics on the ship....The other point about the stores is that there is nothing wrong for picking up a raffle ticket or guessing the real gemstone. Someone does win! PRebecca and kittysoul 1

sk8erguy1978
Just to add, besides tipping staff members, the entire ship is cashless (to the best of my knowledge) except for the casino, which, Royal Caribbean will allow you to use your seapass card to get cash from the cashier, for a percentage. kittysoul
kittysoul
@sk8erguy1978 , so basically , put a CC on file with the ship... and then have cash for tips, the casino and shopping in port...?

It's easy to get caught up in all of the hubbub and before you know it, you just bought a beautiful name-brand watch that was a great sale, only to find the you could buy it practically anywhere for less money (errr, that's what a friend told me). kittysoul, islandgrandma, JLMoran and 1 other 3

That's what we do, set it, forget it, cry when the statement comes last day. If you're someone who doesn't like to charge your CC, you could put cash on the account but that becomes a hassle. Either you need to go retrieve it at the end or 'settle up' with them, both seem like a pain to me (waiting in long lines at guest services last day adding to disembarkation stress). What I've done in the past (before I started playing the credit card points game) is whatever cash I didn't use (or lose) I'd put it on my account to make my credit card bill less. I'd do that late at night while the lines are minimal. JLMoran and kittysoul 1
