Oasis vs Allure

My Husband and I are trying to pick between the Oasis and the Allure. Honestly, we really want to go to Harmony of the Seas but the Caribbean dates won't work for us so we are going to settle for Oasis or Allure (which is still a great!!! ).

We are 26 and kids at heart so we enjoy everything from drinking, eating, entertainment shows, casinos and all of the other activities on board. From my research, Allure is the way to go but the only thing from keeping me is Mamma Mia. We already saw Mamma Mia on our honeymoon with Quantum of the Seas and while it was good I'm not sure I want to see it again. So, Is Cats good enough to make me want to book Oasis or is Allure too awesome to not go because of Mamma Mia? I would love to hear your suggestions!

Thank you!!!!!! :) :)

They are the same ship. I've been on both 4 times. I would say for some reason for which I cannot validate that the Oasis seems to be the party ship more so than allure. Either way your going to enjoy your vacation because IMHO these 2 ships are the greatest ships to ever sail. Here's a couple tips:

1. Make sure you do the chefs table. It's pricy but the food is amazing and the wines is endlessly flowing.

2. Skip the lunch buffet and go to park cafe in Central Park. Get in line for a roast beef sandwich with horse radish & au jus! The best sandwich ever.

I agree with tonyfsu21 on all counts except perhaps the party thing for Oasis.  I haven't noticed that so much...but you cannot go wrong with either of these ships.

The only REAL difference is that one leaves on a Saturday and the other on a Sunday.  THAT may even change when the O moves to Port Canaveral.  I'm not sure what her rotation will be there.  If you have a preference there, then just pick one.

Personally, I found Cats to be horrific - much MUCH too long...but I am not a Broadway musical fan, either.  I hated Hairspray and Chicago too....and I may think the same of Mamma Mia !  when I see it in 3 weeks.  I would say, definitely do NOT make your decision based on a show.  At least, I wouldn't.

You sound like a very active couple...so I think that you will find the Oasis class to be very enjoyable.  There is SO much to do.  The casino is the BEST !

The ONLY drawback to the O class ships is the lackluster options for itineraries.  I understand the reason why, but it still gets to be pretty boring after a while.  IMO they should shuffle the few options they have for ports of call a little more.  Throw an occasional Costa Maya in there - or at least, more often than they do, currently.

^^ agree with WAAAYTOOO. Maybe it's the whole Sat departure thing that gets me more in a party mood and gets me thinking Oasis is more of a party. I miss that casino! Lots of action and just an all together great scene. I could care less about the shows, that's for my wife to watch while I'm pissing away cash on blackjack! RC needs to seriously consider a revamp on their casino program though. I have sailed a decent amount and spent a small fortune but still really have no idea what my status is... There's the occasional bottle of wine and comped dinner but nothing of note. Oh well.

tonyfsu21, I'm assuming you are a member of Club Royale.  Have you ever called them and asked what kind of room discount you can get on a sailing you are interested in ?  I was shocked and almost fell out of my chair the first time I realized that I got almost a 50% discount (usually 43 - 46% by the time it's all said and done) off of full fare (vs the 25 - 30% discount typically offered with the BOGO promos).

THEY DO NOT ADVERTISE ANY OF THIS.  If it hadn't been for Dan insisting that I call them and ask if we were entitled to any casino discount, I wouldn't know about it to this day.  There's no telling how much extra money I spent on cruises before I realized that the casino discount was so high.  ...and not a peep out of them about ANY kind of casino discount - ever.  I just don't understand why you would have a program that offered benefits and then NOT advertise ANY benefits.  The Club Royale Program has been FUBAR from the beginning (since I've been a member, anyway).  Maybe they will be getting their act together with the new program....if it ever comes out and if they ever let us know what it will be !

Anyway, the casino discount is THE absolute reason why I continue to cruise with Royal.  I just can't afford to go anywhere else !  If they screw this up with the new program, I will be free to go elsewhere !  Of course, they're telling us that this new program will be even BETTER than the old one (not a very high bar to achieve, really) but it has been my experience that when Royal tells you that you're getting something new and BETTER, it's actually getting something new and WORSE.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.  There are 2 excellent parts of the current program - you never have to requalify and the room discounts are great.  I know for sure that the new program will have periodic reevaluation and requalification and we'll see how the room discounts compare.  The whole "tier level" thing will probably kill me.  I'm not that big a spender.  Is suspect that the good discounts will only be for the highest tiers, which I will never be.

I forgot to mention that yes I do in fact receive roughly 50% discounts but much like you I still feel in the dark about where I stand. It's annoying because anywhere else you go (other lines & land based casinos) you are recognized by tier level and it's very cut & dry. I normally gamble $25.00 hand blackjack and various slots max bet ($5 pull) which is hardly a high roller but certainly deserving of some type of recognition. Either way I think your right and RC is gonna FUBAR the hell out of this new program. I may have to sail another line as well.

My wife and I just finished a 7 day cruise on the Allure and we are booked in April on the Oasis. They are sister ships so if you are familiar with one then you will know the other as well. As they are similiar there shouldn't be any difference between the two. As previously mentioned, don't make your decision based on the show. Departure date and ports of call are what we based our decision on. We have sailed with RC many times and love the staff. Their was a lot to occupy our time on the Allure and so I imagine that will be the same case with the Oasis. My only complaint is the smoking thing in the Casino. We are not smokers and it is pretty bad. Unfortunately if you wanted to head from the Dining Room to the Amber Theatre you had to pass thru the Casino or go up a flight a stairs, cross over and down a flight.

By the way...if you are on deck 7 there is a "secrect door" at the end of the aft hallway, (not too many people know about this), that will take you straight out to the rock climbing area and Aqua Theatre. You can also go down a flight of stairs from there to deck 5 which puts you on the walking/jogging track.
