Give up 2 connecting rooms?

Hi everyone! First time poster but I've found everyone here so helpful! I have a question regarding the standard balcony cabins on Anthem of the Seas. I booked two connecting 6D balcony rooms on the Anthem for a Nov. sailing this year. We're a family of 4 with two littles under 5 and I got what was a great deal at the time on two rooms for the price of 1. However, with the current WOW sale and KSF, I can save a little over $1,000 if I give up a room and switch us all to just one regular balcony room instead of the two adjoined rooms.

So my question is - would you do it if you were in my shoes? I guess I'd love opinions from veteran sailers since this will be our first ever cruise. Is one balcony room with two littles (one who will be in a pack n play) doable? $1000 is a good chunk of change we could save but I don't know how cramped we might all possibly be in just one room. The thought of a double balcony and two bathrooms is amazing but not for $1000 ? . And apparently KSF doesn't work on two connecting rooms as the TA told me it would only apply to kids who stay with parents in a single room.

ok, i feel your pain. A balcony is wonderful to have but the rooms are not very big.  A pack and play out will be hard to walk around to get to the bathroom. That being said.. if you want to save the money and I agree 1,000 bucks is worth it... totally go for it. Go on line and look the room lay outs.

I know $1000 is quite a bit of money but there are so many cons to 1 room.  Think of the smallest hotel room you’ve stayed in and shrink that.  With the pack and play and the couch made into a bed there really isn’t much room to even walk around. You and your spouse can’t have a conversation let alone watch tv if they go to bed early or nap.  I personally wouldn’t do it but that’s just me.

One thing to think about with the connecting rooms and the tiny humans -- if one is trying to nap you can be in the other room with the second (likely completely-uninterested-in-napping-at-the-same-time) child and everyone will be happier.

Also, the second bathroom is worth at least $500, in my opinion ?

Even in 1 room, you still have the balcony to retreat to while the littles nap.

For small kids under 5, we would save the $1000 and take advantage of the KSF promotion.

We have always had two rooms for our kids except for one cruise.  First cruise with kids they were 6 and 4.  Stayed in adjoining room standard ocean view.  Worked great.  But if they were as young as yours and I had a balcony I'd save the $1K and put them in with me.

If it's gonna cost us $1000 extra to be romantic then I think we'll just have to wait til we get back home ?

That's what the nursery is for ? It's only costs $6/hr... LOL. If it was us, we'd save the $1000. Honestly, after dealing with our kids all day on a cruise ship... ain't nobody got time for that! LOL

Thanks so much for the help everyone! I ended up giving up the connected rooms and switched us all into one balcony to take advantage of KSF. I switched TA's to one that was offering better perks and OBC and ended up saving us a little over $1500 in the end! Plus got a free specialty dining for 2 and paid gratuities for 2. With those savings and added perks, I think I can live with us all squeezing into one room. And hey, if I love this first cruise experience, we could put that money towards a second maybe?! ?

Sounds like a good deal and think of the $1500 savings as a down payment on your next cruise!

Take those savings and use them at the casino....if you win...you won.  If you lose, you will have gambled enough to probably earn a free comp stateroom ?

Personally I think you made a great decision.  That's a lot of savings...plus the OBC and dining.  Nicely done!   The extra space is alwyas nice, but as above, we manage just fine in one room.  And your kids are small so I'm guessing still need help with showers, brushing teeth, etc...so 2 washrooms may not be as beneficial as when they are older.
