kittysoul
If the choices are between a Central Park Balcony, Boardwalk Balcony or interior with Virtual Balcony... which would you choose, and why....?
sk8erguy1978
Boardwalk and as close to the Aqua Theater as possible. 1) Main reason - I'm an Oceanview guy and so is my wife (well Oceanview gal) and would want a little slice of it. 2) Better seats for the shows. kittysoul
ChessE4
I would try Central Park Balcony because I've stayed twice on the Boardwalk, and i really love Central Park. I am thinking about the informal concerts in the evening, etc. On the Boardwalk, there was a nice incentive (specialty meals and coke package), but I am not much of a soda drinker, and I don't really want to stare at the Boardwalk. You get some noise or entertainment from the Aqua Theater (we were about 7 staterooms from the aft end), but you really can't see enough to have a true show. Whatever you choose, enjoy your cruise! Lovetocruise2002
Central Park Balcony. Why? - More quiet than Boardwalk - IMO, better perks..I would rather have a complimentary bottle of wine and lunch at one of the CP restaurants rather than a meal a Johnny Rockets and, the Virtual Balcony is still an inside cabin so that would be my lowest pick. kittysoul, mom2mybugs, RWDW1204 and 1 other 3
CruisinUpinLife
Something to think about for Central Park Balcony: allergies I agree that it is quiet and peaceful but just make sure you take meds if needed. The same holds true if you walk in there. kittysoul and Lovetocruise2002 1
WAAAYTOOO
I have stayed in the Boardwalk balcony rooms before and really like them. I have never stayed in the Central Park balconies but I have heard that it can get very hot in that area since it is not as open and breezy as it is in the Boardwalk area. I do agree that the Central Park rooms would be quieter (except for the noise that I have heard about from the pools). kittysoul and fonemanbob 1
fonemanbob
Central Park does get very hot and humid. Lots of mold spores to make one with allergies miserable. Boardwalk or on the very back of the ship especially is our favorite area to be . kittysoul and mom2mybugs 1
JohnK6404
Another vote for Central Park. Our favorite place on the ship. Especially loved it at night sitting out on our balcony with the entertainment just below us and with the beautiful peaceful lighting. Enjoyed the specialty restaurant lunch and bottle of wine. Never took advantage of the free casino lesson that also comes with the cabin. I'm surprised some are saying it's hot? Maybe a little warmer during the day naturally, but it was never stagnant on our cruise. We actually had a very nice breeze and never felt hot with our CP balcony. When the ship is moving, the air drops down from above and sweeps through CP. You can see the trees and plants sway and sometimes at night it actually gets a little windy! Of course it's not as breezy as ocean balconies! Prior to this cruise we only booked Ocean balconies, but our friends we traveled with this time had a CP balcony on Oasis the year prior and recommended it. We have already booked a CP balcony cabin for our next cruise (Symphony, 4/24/21). View from our CP balcony on Allure (5/19/19) at night... Right above where the musician plays every evening! Central Park is on Deck 8, the first deck of CP balconies is Deck 10 (Deck 9 has the window seat interior cabins). So, CP balconies are on Decks 10, 11, 12 & 14 (no Deck 13 on ships). We went with Deck 11 on Allure and enjoyed it... left us with 2 cabin decks to "buffer" the pool decks above Deck 14 and we were still 3 decks above CP so we had a nice view. I think deck 10 would be very nice too. We actually went with Deck 12 on upcoming Symphony due to availability. We'll see how that goes! We wanted to be right over the area where the musician usually plays. We had cabin 11205 (port side) on Allure... you can see we were right over the area where the musician usually performs. We went with cabin 12605 (starboard side) for Symphony. Assuming that the CP layout is identical on all ships. Also, try to select a balcony in the middle of the curved "hump". In the pics below you can see the large white steel support beams which can obstruct your view just enough as you look to the extreme right or left depending on which balcony you pick. On Allure we found ourselves peeking around the beam at times, so we made sure to pick a balcony in the middle of the "bump-out" on Symphony. Also, you want to consider location. How close do you want to be to the elevator towers or the bridge that spans and cuts CP in half on Deck 15. We wanted to be in the middle so we would feel a little less claustrophobic when out on the balcony and we wanted to be close to the musicians. We also didn't want to be right up against the glass elevator tower wall! We did not mind the walk, but it's a personal preference. During the day, the music from the pool decks on 15 on either side of CP will be loud, but we did not mind. We were usually out and about during the day anyway and if we found ourselves back in the cabin, we just kept the balcony door closed (it mutes most of the noise, but not all of it). At night, there is no music coming from the pool decks (pools close early, people are at shows, dinner, casino, etc.). More pics for the lovers of CP! MarvinS
I've been in room 12329 on both Harmony AND Oasis, as it's the very end room (farthest back towards the Aquatheatre) on the 12th floor. We absolutely loved the room! You had basically unobstructed views of the shows in Aquatheatre), along with great ocean views out the back of the ship. On deck 12, you are under the flowrider area, so you actually can see out the back towards the ocean. On deck 14, you can NOT see straight out the back. Additionally, depending on which ship you are on, there are the Ultimate Abyss slides that can obstruct some of your view. This far up (deck 12), the obstruction is very little, whereas on lower decks at the back (decks 8-9), the slides swing around closer to the rooms and block much more of your view. Harmony and Symphony have the Abyss slide; Oasis and Allure do not (but will be getting them as they get Amped over the next year or so). We also don't drink alcohol, so the some of the perks of a Central Park rooms are of no benefit, but I do enjoy my sodas so the Boardwalk perk was more appealing, there. kittysoul and JohnK6404 1

kittysoul
@JennyB from most of my researching so far on the Oasis class ships ( I haven't been yet), 'usually' the CP are the lowest price, then BW and then Ocean view... but not 'always'...and the price difference between CP and BW is not huge..usually 50 to 100 ish per person

To add to what @JohnK6404 already said, I believe that @Matt had posted before that there is a CP balcony room that has an extra large balcony. Not sure which one it is but Matt can probably tell you. That might be worth it to look into as well. On OA class, I like Deck 12. Central enough that you can take the stairs up or down most of the time. 11 minutes ago, JennyB said: I hope it's ok to tag along on this thread...but these photos are STUNNING. And what is the difference between Central Park balconies and Boardwalk balconies? This is why OA class is the best! Amazing all that they can put there and that's just one neighbourhood! When you are in CP, you forget that you are on a ship sometimes. And yes, OA class is the only class with a park on board. Usually, CP balconies cost less that those that face the ocean. Boardwalk balconies face the boardwalk. They are also more towards the aft section of the ship. JohnK6404

WannaCruise
Haven't tried CP room so can't compare but we stayed in Boardwalk Balcony on Symphony and loved it. To me, it's a perfect mix. You can see the water in the background plus you can watch a movie and aqua show from your room. We were deck 10 mid way down so I wouldn't recommend watching the Aqua show for the first time from up there, but it's a neat way to catch parts again (or preview or them practicing). It's also fun to step outside and people watch and see what's going on on the Boardwalk. For noise, we did hear muffled noise at night, mostly with a movie, but I just put in ear plugs and problem solved. Wouldn't hesitate too book one again. (And if cost isn't an issue, it's always nice to have a balcony to be able to get some fresh air - comparing this to virtual balcony). AS for the perks...DH gets soda package so that was nice for him. I never get it as I don't drink pop but did have some flavored water. And we didn't even use our free Johnny Rockets meal since with all our other eating, we didn't feel like a greasy meal. Our view.
