spursfreak21
Hey Everyone! So I just finished a 5 night cruise on Enchantment of the seas. We had a great time! One topic I wanted to bring up to get some of y’alls input on. So yesterday (our last sea day) my wife and I were in the solarium. There were a group of young teens (prob 16-18) that had come in and were splashing a bit in the pool. An older gentleman started yelling at them to leave because they were causing a ruckus. That we (adults) go to the solarium to get away from the kids in the regular pool. I get that the kids were being a bit annoying, but that’s on RCCL for setting the minimum age for the solarium at 16 and not something higher. Anyone have this happen before? Thoughts? I have seen it before when parents don't supervise younger kids. I haven't seen it with older teens. Unless it is late at night, security usually doesn't hassle the teens. The Harmony doesn't have a pool in the Solarium, and I noticed it was quieter (hot tub instead).
twangster
Solarium is 16+ so if they were 16+ then technically they are allowed to be there. It's rarely good when guests try to interpret and/or enforce rules. Better to engage pool staff or security. If they decide the 16 yo's behavior is in violation of rules they can deal with it. I've seen older adults who have been enjoying adult beverage become loud in the solarium. It's not advertised as a quiet zone so the issue of acceptable versus desired is very subjective. Ultimately that's up to the ship to decide and enforce. Morganno, RWDW1204, islandgrandma and 3 others

Just got off the Anthem GC, and they had to close and pump out the main pool twice during the nine days because an adult had thrown up in the pool. spursfreak21
I agree. I thought the older gentleman was in the wrong to yell at the kids. It made the situation awkward for the rest of us sitting there and the kids. A few other adults spoke up for the kids, but some other people clapped when he spoke up and some even came over to “thank” him for speaking up. twangster

This. Does that happen often when cruising? That hast to be a major hassle for everyone involved. I am also wondering if there is some kind of discipline imposed on the individual that causes the problem? jlwrinkle
We were on a cruise where an adult in the solarium was becoming a little too rambunctious. Security came and asked them to leave the solarium. No other consequences just to move along type thing. If you want to be rowdy, go to the other pools. But typically the Solarium is very sedate on the cruises we have been on. People reading and napping typically. ChessE4

Of the 18 cruises I have been on I have never seen or heard of this before, I'm sure it happens and yes I'm sure it's a hassle for everyone. I've just never seen it before, but my wife was following the Anthem Facebook group which is where it was posted. I'm sure the people that had camped out and gotten the "Perfect lounge chairs" were pissed off. DublinFC

fonemanbob
Like they say there`s one in every crowd. Never seen it happen. If you want to see some aggressive people just go to the shopping seminar. That is almost as entertaining as watching the Walmartin`s. My most memorable aggressive experience on a cruise was 4 years in the casino. This guy was at the machine for quite a spell. He got upset and threw the chair over and walked off. Yous truly sat down and 3rd pull I won $300.00. Cashed out and called it a night. Went back to the room and the wife said I thought you were going to the casino. I said i did and won $300. Nightie night. FManke and RWDW1204
Ditchdoc
Not having been there, I cant really offer an opinion on how this event was handled. However, if the kids were being truly annoying (which itself is subjective), I do not think it is 'out of bounds for an 'adult to remind them the solarium is generally a quite area for adults to read, relax and nap so please be considerate of others. There are other pools where you can be loud and energetic. This can be done in a mean/hateful way which is wrong and probably counterproductive and it can be done in a pleasant/learning way that gets your point across and most likely will produce results. spiralqueen, RWDW1204 and ChessE4
