For those interested, here is my YouTube video of our food photos in the Main Dining Room during our recent 9-night cruise.

As someone who plans to eat dinner mainly in the MDR this was fantastic.  It was interesting to see both the menus and then the food.  Thank you for posting!

You are very welcomed.  I love hearing great comments like this. Liking or commenting directly on the YouTube page or even subscribing to my channel would help me out alot as well.  It really encourages me to post more videos.  As someone that post video on YouTube and don't run any ads, I really do this for the enjoyment of others.  I am not in it for the money as there is none.

What a beautiful cake!

Are these cakes complimentary, or does RCI charge a fee?

They are part of the MDR service to celebrate Royal's 50th birthday.  They have been serving them for a good portion of the year.  They are complimentary and are in addition to the dessert menu.  They only serve them on one night of the sailing, though.

Wow, I can't believe every guest gets one?  That's a lot of cakes!!!

I just Googled it, and unfortunately it's only for sailings until December 2019.  Our cruise isn't until Feb 2020 ?

Does anyone know how you find out when they are offered on upcoming cruises? Or do you just have to wait and see if you are in the MDR in the right night? Thanks

I think its random, it wasnt either formal night for me, i wanna say it was night 5 where night 2 and 6 was formal.

Either way it was a nice surprise, cake was a tad dry (probably because they have to make so many).

Dare I say I feel a bit better now ...lol
It was a very nice gesture for sure ?
Nice Instagram worthy picture imo (in my opinion)!

Calling all foodies! Please post your pictures of the amazing food you had on your trip!

Oh no.....

I saw the thread title and immediately clicked it.

I'm going to be on my first cruise with symphony of the seas in Jan, 2020 and have been on a strict diet!

I keep telling myself 4-5 months of strict diet is worth it when I can go wild at the buffet on the cruise.

Hopefully I can make it to our sailing date without cheating on my diet.

For now I will live vicariously though all of your images.

@mom2mybugs - what a nice cake!  Do you know if they have this for all sailings, or just the smaller ships?  Is in on embarkation day?

@bhageerah - OMG, I saw this picture on another forum, but yours is very crisp and clear.  It's like it's right in front of me!  How was the cheesecake?  Was it the firm NY style or creamy type?

@TJ! - I keep saying I'm going to start my diet next week.  I'm sure you will have a fantastic time!

When we went on our first cruise (Oasis), we planned too much because we wanted to see everything!  I had our daily agenda on an excel spreadsheet!  Yeah, don't judge ?

We had a great time, but we didn't have any down time at all, and we were completely exhausted and sleep deprived!  We ate so much food, but you know what?  We lost weight!!!

It must of been all the activities you were doing! That's the ideal situation to eat my face off and still lose weight. I'm a strong advocate of excel so I might actually adopt that idea from you haha.

Yes, all the walking, going to bed late and getting up super early!  Oasis was a ginormous ship!

I know some people prefer to wing it, or take it easy, but for us, we prefer to plan our days, especially since we don't get to vacation as often as we'd like.  This is 9 years of waiting to cruise again!

The little 50th birthday cakes are very cute and festive.  The real question is....are they good?  I will be happily sampling one very soon.  Our Ovation sailing is almost here!

The night that we received the birthday cake, I had ordered 2 other desserts because I couldn’t decide between the Baked Alaska and the dessert that looks like Carnival ‘s Chocolate Melting Cake. So, imagine our surprise when our waiter brought us the birthday cake as well...and it was a table for two! After trying the other 2 desserts, I gave hubby the rest of the Baked Alaska and the chocolate cake just sat there. I then tasted the birthday cake, and devoured what I could manage to eat. I don’t remember what else I ordered that evening, but I definitely recall the 3 desserts. I am going to miss that little birthday cake on our next cruise; I don’t believe it will be available because it will be in January 2020. ?
