O5 to be called Melody of the Seas???

Recommended Posts

As it only costs a couple of hundred bucks for a small company to trademark a name, a big company with lawyers on staff can trademark anything they think of.

Ones I remember from last year were

Phenom of the Seas, Gallant of the Seas or Eon of the Seas, Valhalla of the Seas, Sunrise of the Seas and Icon of the Seas, Apex of the Seas, Joy of the Seas, Emblem of the Seas

Carnival Sunrise, Celebrity Apex, Norwegian Joy..  I actually like Melody of the Seas and Icon of the Seas.

A German site last year made claim it would be Melody. So far this has been the only use of Melody. Doing a quick search "Melody of the Seas" isn't even trademarked.

Looking back on Symphony, "Symphony of the Seas" wasn't trademarked until a shipyard photo was released. That photo had a partial spelling of Symphony.

Now the domain name Melodyoftheseas.com has been registered by Royal since September of 2013, three months after Symphonyoftheseas.com

It's a pretty safe bet that the first Icon class ship is going to be named Icon of the Seas... follows their naming convention/pattern.

Melody of the Seas sounds nice and would fit the current naming trend, but who knows for sure since Oasis and Allure were the first two in the class.

This seems to be the convention of late, but who knows. Vision of the Seas was the last vision class ship named.
