Nassau Activites

I apologize if this has been posted before!

My husband and I are going to Nassau next January. None of the shore excursions look particularly interesting to us, and after doing some research it looks like we would be interested in visiting John Watling's Distillery and Junkanoo Beach. I have a few questions regarding these activities:

1. Would it be possible to walk to both locations? I see that some people note safety concerns, while others do not. Would a taxi be recommended?

2. Are there any companies that do shore excursions that we could customize that others have used in the past?

3. Would you recommend just doing a RC shore excursion instead? If so, which would you do?

I appreciate any information in advance!

Thanks!

Yes I think it is walkable. Ordinarily I'd warn you about how hot it can be to walk that distance, but you will be there in January so not a big deal.

In terms of safety, I think you're traversing well-walked tourist corridors, but you should always be vigilant about your personal safety.

Don't overlook Royal Caribbean's Private Journeys program, which allows you to create your own private excursions: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/category/category/private-journeys

The walk to the distillery is uphill the whole way.  We did it on our own but the guys were tired of walking so we took a taxi back to the ship which wasn't easy to get from that location.  We did the chocolate tour on our own and then the distillery.  My suggestion for that would be to take a taxi to the distillery and then walk back.  Not sure about the beach we didn't go there because we had Labadee for our beach day.

We did the distillery on a tour.  It is a pretty quick one just FYI.  You walk through the house, see a deep well, and watch someone pkg the bottles.  The tasting was good but it was packed in there with people getting drinks.  I found it fun on the tour but would not invest a ton of effort getting there.  Jane

Yes I forgot how busy and slow they were.  10 minutes to tour and at least a half hour wait to buy a drink.  The chickens outside were fun though.

The service was great but it was wall to wall people.   Oh and your Comment  makes me laugh...my 16 year old is terrified of birds and they are everywhere in Nassau!  She was so funny to watch... Ok...I know...I shouldn't laugh at my teens phobia but what other joy is there in parenting a teen???? Jane

We'll be in Nassau in 2 weeks so I've been doing research as well!

I've not heard / seen great reviews on Junkanoo Beach. Rather, it seems recommended to take the #10 bus out to Cable Beach. Nicer, cleaner.  BUT, am wondering if anyone here has had experience with Cable Beach?
