12thman
Looks like Jamie Oliver's restaurant is insolvent in the UK what does this mean for the RCL ships with Jamie's Italian? TT1250
Lots of legal possibilities here: Since we do not know the legal arrangement between RCCL & Jamie's. 1. If the employees in the restaurant, on the ship, are employees of Jamie's, then they will not get paid and if RCCL does not offer them employment, they will most likely leave the ship when it hits home port. If Jamie's is leasing/renting space on the ships, then RCCL can terminate the agreement for lack of payment. 2. If it is a licensing agreement with RCCL employees running the restaurant, then RCCL will have to continue running the Restaurants in accordance with the contract and there will be little to no impact on customers. Lots of possibilities and options. Can get a little complicated because of international agreements.
WAAAYTOOO
My guess - and it is noting more than that - is that RCCL simply pays a licensing fee for the opportunity of using the name and recipes. I am almost certain that employees in any RCCL restaurant are employees of the cruise line. tiny260

It wasn't Jaime's, but the signature chef does appear on board, working on the menu and chatting with the staff, but the staff are very clearly entirely RCCL employees. tiny260
KenCP
Currently it only effects restaurants in the UK. US and Canada are not affected. I would imagine RCL operates their restaurants as their own and under a license agreement from Jamie's Italian. Jamie's Italian provides the name and menus. Not quite an apple to apples comparison, but the employees at the Starbucks at your local Target are actually Target employees, not Starbucks. I'd imagine it's the same thing
