When it comes time to order a DRINK....

Hi everyone.  Again, I'm really enjoying the message boards.  Here is an additional question.  And, if I'm asking too many questions, let me know.

When it comes time to order a DRINK....

I am referring to being "in" a bar, "at" a bar, "adjacent" to a bar (and so forth).  If I would like a drink, is it likely that there is a waiter/waitress that roams the area and takes my drink order?  And, brings my drink to WHERE I AM SITTING?  Does my question make sense?

Say, if I am in a pub / lounge / etc... and (l will preface this by saying I'm not familiar with all of the various ones that exist), and I am not sitting AT THE BAR, but I am sitting at a table, is it up to me to get up and go to the bar to put in my drink order to the bartender, watch/wait him to make it, and take it back to my table? 

Also, if that (the need for me to place my drink order via face-to-face with the bartender) is the usual thing that is done --- is there often a CROWD of people hugged up to the bar?  I know that can be an awkward thing (at a typical bar on land). 

I appreciate feedback that you kind folks can give.  Thank you!   P.S. -- taking the question just a step further, if I am on a deck hundreds of lounge chairs, are there roaming waitresses there also!?

Yes, they do have roaming bar servers in the various venues including the pool deck. Just keep in mind they can be sparse at times and also be very busy with others orders.

This is where giving a little extra can help with the roaming waiters. They will remember the extra tippers and tend to make sure their drink is fresh and topped off.

Crowds at the bar/counter, just depends on when and where. Sometimes you'll be able to walk up and be immediately served other times it might be three deep. Funny thing is sometimes when the bar/counter is backed up the roaming waiters are free and standing around. If you see one just politely place your order, no need to really be seated for their service.

It varies by venue and patience level.

On Mariner last week we had a good experience with sitting in the pool and the waiter taking our order and delivering beers to us in the pool ... conversely we had a terrible time at the Pub with the waiter never coming by to take an order so we just kept going up to the bar to order another round and the line at the bar was usually short.

Only place I've not come across roaming servers is in Vintages but never a big queue at the bar and always well-managed with the bar tender knowing who's next in the queue.

Some bars are really more walk up, while others are full staffed for roaming waiters.  Trellis Bar on Oasis class seems to be more walk-up, and we've had very little luck in the Solarium with roaming waiters - those seem to be at the pool bar.  If there is a Sky Bar above the pool bar, that is more walk-up as well.  Sometimes the pool bar waiters will walk the top deck, but it depends on how busy they are being kept below.

Indoor venues, like Schooner, lounges, R Bar, have more roaming waiters than the Pubs, in our experience.  I don't think I've ever seen more than 1 roaming waiter at a time in any pub...if any at all.  I can't speak for the Casino as we don't go in there due to the smoke.

Yup, forgot about some of those smaller bars like Trellis being walkup. Will say when not busy I've seen the folks behind counter at Trellis walk around. Playmakers also comes to mind, but that can also be viewed as a special case between counter and the surrounding tables.

As mentioned the upper deck around the pool can be hit or miss when it comes to lounger side service.
