Guarantee room

Recommended Posts

Ok...so we are 42 days out from our hopefully visiting Havana cruise.  We have a guarantee ocean view room and I decided not to bid on the royal up because currently there aren’t any 3 person rooms available anyway so I doubt I’m getting anything.  My question is at what point do they have to assign us a room?  I’m a planner and it is killing me that I have no clue where our room is.  Also! Does anyone have pictures of a majesty room with it set up for 3 people?   I’m not sure how the heck 3 of us and our luggage are going to fit in these teeny tiny rooms lol!! Jane

My friend and his family were just on Harmony (4/21/19 sailing) and went with a guaranteed Ocean View Balcony for this family of 4 (last minute booking through Costco Travel just over a month prior to sail date).

He received his cabin assignment on Tuesday (4/16/19), 5 days before sail date. I don't believe there is a set policy/date for when you get your cabin assignment. Hopefully, you'll get your assignment sooner than later! I'm with you on hating the unknown and loving to plan!

Have a great time!!! :27_sunglasses:

Since the Royal Up program was introduced it's logical that GTY assignments will take longer to post.  As the ship books out they have the flexibility of upgrading some guests who placed bids which can free up cabins within the GTY category you booked.

It's further complicated considering muster station capacity and ensuring they maximize muster capacity while accommodating all guests from solo cruisers to families.

Keep in mind that just because they aren't advertising cabins on the website doesn't mean they don't have any unoccupied cabins in that category.  Often accessible rooms are kept out of the general inventory in case someone who needs one requests it, but at a certain point they'll release them for any guest to occupy.   There are other reasons to keep some cabins out of the sales inventory and then open them for GTY bookings closer to the cruise.

This is expected when booking GTY cabins - you might not know right up to embarkation day.

We were on the Majesty cruise to Havana last November and had our family of 3 in an Ocean View Room.  This picture shows the bed setup.  It was a tight fight with 2 adults and a teenaged son!  We lifted the bed and slid the empty luggage underneath for storage.  There is also a little space on the right side of the bed to put some bags on the floor as well.  Our cruise was 5 days so it was manageable.... any longer and we probably would have went with a bigger cabin. ?

This is awesome!! Thank you...I think we are going to die space wise lol...22 and 16 year old girls and me and all our junk.  Uh oh lol!  It's only 4 days though...I have to decide if I want to Royal up for a Jr suites.  The bid would be half of what we originally paid though... Ugh... But climbing over our stuff in that room or only a couple hundred extra a day....hmm lol.  Thanks so much for the picture...I haven't been able to find any!  Jane

I am on Ovation in about 3 weeks.  We got our cabin assignment at 30 days out, but I knew what floor I was on as soon as the edocs were available. I did not get an upgrade, but I am actually more pleased with the location of the room than the original cabin  I had booked.  I do not regret at all switching to GTY for a few hundred dollar savings.  FWIW, I am still receiving Royal Up emails asking me to bid for an upgrade.  I hope you also get your stateroom assignment in the next two weeks and I hope you have a fabulous cruise!  I also have had Mother/Daughter cruises and I hope your experience is amazing as mine have been.  Happy Sailing!

I believe that was one of the MyVegas 2M point cruises that was offered..and since those are booked through Casino Royale's program they are probably all GTY rooms as well..so they may be waiting for people to upgrade and place RoyalUp bids before closing up the rest of the GTY assignments.

I also have a GTY room for Ovation at the end of June.  My edocs show that I am on the 10th floor, but I have not been assigned a room.  This is my second cruise, and my first time to do GTY.  If my edocs show the 10th floor, is that likely where I will be?  So, no obstructed view room?  I am worried sick about getting on the 6th floor.  Not sure my anxiety can handle it.  LOL.  (Seriously though).

I have done the many in a mini thing a few times... Its not as bad as one might think. Last time happened to be on Majesty. I found we spent minimal time in the cabin. Teen club gets out at 1Am and your other is an adult. My fiancé and I were asleep by the time they got in.  I know you said girls but try to pack light. We have found that we can pack in a large and small carry on type each. We do clothes in the larger carry on's and the smaller ones each get a snorkel set , a bottle of wine (in the adults), a few bottles of water (in the teens ). a  smaller yet rolled up shopping bag,  misc stuff... We use the little remaining space and the rolled up shopping bags to tote souvenirs.  I keep my bag in the trace between the bed and wall. Fiancé does as well. The kids unpacked and left bags in closet.  Where you ladies will feel the small space squeeze will be when doing hair and makeup. There is a chair at the desk and a second cushioned one across from the mirror. The bathroom is very small but a third  can prep in there. We found it best to let me shower and change first and vacate the cabin to go wander around on deck while their ceremonial war paint applications  takes place. I'm a boat captain by trade and understand the finer points of shower shave and dress in that small bathroom in just a very few minutes. We plan to do many in a mini on Independence next April.

The GTY part makes me crazy. I too am a planning oriented person. Also being at sea so much in my job, I often don't have access to a printer for docs and set sail passes. I let them know that for our last cruise and they were good about assigning fairly quickly. That gave me time to print out our stuff before heading out to sea to work...

My guess is that pack light won’t happen...I’m probably the worst of the 3 lol.  But we can make it work for the amazing itinerary!  We are used to sharing one bathroom since we have stayed as many as 4 of us in one room.  My husband not going will help as everyone can dress wherever.  And we have our amazing ocean view family stateroom on vision with tons of room this July!

My travel agent says lately the guarantees haven’t been assigned til the week before and it may kill me!  Arghhhhh.  Jane
