Cruisemapper article: If you are booked on Independence OTS and Mariner OTS, this relates to you:

RCI-Royal Caribbean is temporarily closing the "Sky Pad" facility on two cruise liners in the wake of a recent lawsuit. The signature bungee trampoline activity can be paired with virtual reality (VR) headsets.

The company announced that as part of its commitment to passenger safety, temporarily takes the Sky Pads out of service on Independence OTS and Mariner OTS.

Mariner Of The Seas cruise ship

The move comes after RCI was sued by 26-year-old Casey Holladay for US$75,000. According to the suit, Casey Holladay says he was on a weekend trip to the Bahamas on Mariner of the Seas in February 2019 when he plunged to the deck after the harness he was fastened to disconnected while he was twenty feet in the air. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Miami FL on March 12.

The suit stated the activity had been located on Deck 13 of the ship, which "has a hard surface with no padding or safety nets surrounding it."
