Masters benefits

Recommended Posts

I recently achieved masters tier and Diamond Plus on Royal Caribbean since January 2019.  I mainly cruise on Royal Caribbean and pushed myself to achieve masters benefits with about 20 cruises last year.   However after about three months, Im trying to understand the benefits more than whats on their sheet.  I used to have the top tier card at many land based casinos until the industry downgraded their perks where it was not the worth the cost of playing.   IM fairly new to Royal Caribbean but it appears the benefits have decreased substantially from what I can read in previous posts.   Can somebody point me in the right direction on maximizing benefits.  Thanks....

Congratulations !  What leads you to believe that the Masters benefits have been reduced ?  I don’t know anyone who is Masters level so I have no firsthand knowledge. I do not have a list of benefits in front of me but my impression is that Masters gives you many benefit otherwise given to suites level pax.  Maybe not all of the suites perks, but many of them.

That's not true.  There are some cruisers who think they are entitled to additional benefits that were never offered to D+ guests, but thats another story.

Bottom line is Diamond members enjoy some significant benefits that are unparalleled on other cruise lines (complimentary alcohol, dedicated lounges, et al).

Matt I think he is referring to the Masters benefits in the casino losing benefits not the Diamond plus benefits.. Although as Wayyytoo pointed out I don't think the Masters benefits have gone down.. Now the benefits from about 5-6 years ago in the casino have gone down so maybe he is referring to that..

Does the Masters Suite lounge/ Coastal Kitchen access apply to both occupants of the cabin or just the Masters player?

That's a good question.  To my knowledge, casino tiers are not "shared" with other members of your family the way that C&A status is.  I would imagine that your access to the lounges along with other perks will apply just to you but I really do not know.  If 2 friends are cruising together and sharing a stateroom, one has a high C&A status and the other does not, both members of the stateroom are not granted access to the Suites lounge/Coastal Kitchen so I imagine it's the same with casino tier levels.

I fear you are probably right.  I sent off an email to Club Royale so I will report back when I get a response.

My scenario is, I am currently on Allure in August in a Grand Suite, upgraded from a Junior Suite Comp.  With the new diluted Upgraded benefit, that upgrade cost me $2k to move up 1 class.  Historically, that would have been a $1k upgrade.  WE only upgrade to Grand Suite to get Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen access.  The room isn't that important to us (both have great closets/both have tubs).  So if I am already getting Suite lounge/Coastal kitchen with my Masters status, I would much prefer to downgrade back to my JS and put the $2k back in my pocket.

Since I doubt there are very few dual Masters couples, if they do not allow the spouse/roommate to take part in the Suite lounge/Coastal Kitchen access it is essentially a hollow perk.

Wow, congrats on the Masters Tier. My logic would indicate that most of all of the benefits are based on "double occupancy", so as long as the other party was staying in your room you would be fine. Also with the prestige of Masters, I wouldn't see them giving you a problem regardless for 1 extra person for club access or dining access, but then again RCL loves having no defined rules. Just my two cents.

On a side note, not to be to personal, could you give us a little insight on what type of games you play, wager, and time spent in the casino?

I got Prime status on my first day of the cruise last March but have been pretty much stuck at "Prime" since for the whole year. I earned 4 Balcony cruise certificates throughout the year along with how many cruises they hand out via email it's almost impossible to go on them all. Just felt like my points would be higher but not sure if it's even worth it to inquire but that "1 device free with Signature" would have been nice :).

I cruised 4 times last year (three 7 day cruises).  I am a craps player and I have no problem playing with their money so it is not uncommon for me to have the Place bets maxed out across the board after sequentially pressing the bets).  In the casino every night after a 7:30 dinner for about 3-4 hours.  I had a pretty good year.  However, I still play some slots because it is the easiest way to build points fast.  I don't play slots to win (and that is a good thing a cruise ship) but I do enjoy sitting with my wife/sons and earning some points for the tier status.

I had decided my strategy for thisyear was to play slots on my wifes card so to both earn Prime.  However she got to Prime on her own.  But if they don't let me "use" my Masters benefits with her...it winds up being a hollow benefit.

That upgrade seems in line with regular pricing, at least for the First Allure sailing in August. Club Royale uses different, special, rates for sure, but that is for both the Junior Suite AND the Grand Suite so this seems perfectly normal. It is just that the GS is more expensive on those sailings than in the past, this is not specific to Club Royale.

I must respectfully disagree, on 2 points.

1) my post was on the benefits of the Masters level and not paying for a suite benefit that o get with a masters benefit anyway

2) lots of discussion on other threads on the dilution of the casino upgrade perk since the new casino year started. Historically, many of us have received 48-60% off. This cruise non discounted delta between a GS and a JS was $2400, i received a $298 discount on that upgrade(12.5%). Many others are experiencing less discounts on upgrades as well

My understanding is that all guests in a room that allows access to the Coastal Kitchen will have it, regardless of other statuses.  Access to the diamond lounge would requires individuals guests to be diamond or higher.  But, I could be corrected ?

I guess part of it is due to the up program , they might calculate they can get more revenue like that. I guess if the Casino will start to to see decline in  casino revenues they might re calculate.

Concur...but i thought the casino was operated as a 3rd party contractor.

it would be an interesting case if the principal made a policy change that put more many in their pocket (royal up) while simultaneously putting less money in their vendors (impacted casino play)

The casinos used to be operated by a concession but about 5 years ago the cruise line  took over.  That’s when all of the players club changes started.
