STB7481
First cruise in a long time coming up this summer. Travel party is my wife and two children, and also my parents. We are arriving the night before departure and staying at the Hyatt in the Orlando airport. As for transportation to the Port, I am basically down to two options. Car service or car rental? Looking for some feedback on your experiences. I’d think a car service would be the one with the least hassle, but likely the more expensive route. If renting a car, is it easy enough to drop them at port and then have me return the car solo and meet back up? Would I be able to do the opposite upon returning, go get the car and come back to pick them up? thanks!
tiny260
Car service might be the way to go with 6 people, just Google ground transportation to Port Canaveral. But yes, you can rent a car and do one way drop off. Drop your family at the port and then go drop the car off and take a shuttle back, I've done this in years past and it can be tedious for the family waiting to check in until you get back, especially if there are any delays with the shuttle. I'm going in October on Harmony, staying close to the port in a Residents Inn, taking a rental car from MCO to the hotel, the hotel has a Hertz lot attached that I can drop the car off when we are done and either a shuttle or taxi/uber to the port (As per recommendation from @WAAAYTOOO ). Going from port to MCO I have hired a car service. These arrangements are only for my wife and I.
Lovetocruise2002
Each time we have stayed at the Hyatt Regency to cruise out of Port Canaveral, we have purchased the cruise line transfer. So the morning of the cruise, we simply make our way down to the baggage and ground transportation area to meet the shuttle. It is pricey but we purchase both ways so it makes it very easy and painless. However, our next cruise on HM out of PC, involves 14 of us. Now looking into alternatives because the cost of transfers for 14 people is a bit higher. Uber/Lyft also out for 14. Cortrans has really good reviews on trip advisor. Maybe check them out. I will be looking at them.
Baked Alaska
We only use www.happylimo.com MCO to Port Canaveral. We've been happy with them: very nice cars, fair price, very nice and professional drivers.
betatke1480
We used smart-two.com last time going from PC to MCO and really liked it. I think we would use it again going from MCO to PC if we didn't rent a car. Usually we rent a car in MCO and return it at PC. We used National since the return is really close to Terminal 1. smart-two was great though. It is a Nissan NV van, and it was just the 3 of us in the van. They have wifi in the van as well. We liked it much better than goportcanaveral. monctonguy
ericgoodwin
I’ve done car rental with enterprise and it was over $100. Was just two of us. Probably should have done Uber. Next two we got a shuttle from the hotel as part of our hotel coSt

GPC was fine. We had booked it with a hotel package in Orlando. Our problem was that it didn't pick us up from the hotel until 11:30 am, so we wouldn't have gotten to the port until almost 1. We like to arrive earlier than that, so now out of PC we either rent a car or go with smart-two.
monctonguy
yes..I noticed that some of their hotels indicate its an early pick up and others is not..thats a must for me....I like to be on the ship by 11 betatke1480
mom2mybugs
We did cocoa Beach shuttle a few years back. They were very reliable and the price was good. My daughter left her brand new sweater on the van and they drove it back to us the next morning. No charge (though I tipped big!). Fairlynew
Just booked Smart-two for trip from port to airport. Thank you for the tip. We are renting a car for the day before we leave but shuttle seems easiest for return trip.
