Freedom Amp'd

Recommended Posts

I'm hoping I'm on the right track here ...... We're on Freedom late March of 2020, and I know the "Amping" of Freedom is supposed to occur sometime near this time ...

So, I was just on the web site and noticed that the month of February is completely unavailable ..... Hmmmmm, it would seem logical that this is the month for the AMP.

I hope so, we'll be one of the first sailings after the amp.  Check out the pic.

I noticed in that photo you have a green army man on your desk

Actually, you're seeing the bottom of a photo on my screen saver ..... I just have Cruise photos rotating .... keeps me focused on the next one.  The one you're referring to was by far the BEST Costume last Halloween on Grandeur.

That would be such a bummer if that happened. My son and DIL are coming in from Alaska for the cruise and we look forward to these outings together and a cruise makes it a logical thing to do. Praying for the best to occur and I will first one in my room after an AMP and that just makes it feel special whether it is or not.

Does anybody have any idea what they will be adding during dry-dock?

Probably very similar to what Indy got, except for "Fish n Ships" which is probably intended for the UK market and wouldn't have any purpose on Freedom.

I'm guessing that the rest of the Voyager and Freedom Class refurbs will be more similar to Mariner/Indy than Navigator - I think they rebuilt Navigator for the 3/4 day cruises and is very much marketed for that.

Normally you will find Jodi and I at the Schooner, but this time just look for us at Playmakers.  Very excited about that.

Yeah, I'm totally on board with that ...... the pool deck looks a lot like the changes they made to Navigator.  El loco fresh looks nice too ... imagine that, a taco on demand....

I really like the Playmakers bar, I hope that becomes a standard on all ships.  One thing I always felt was lacking on my cruises was a good setting for watching games.  We usually cruise during the NFL season, but the accommodations haven't always been the best for watching.  There's nothing like a great sports venue with fans from many teams watching with each other.

I absolutely can not wait ..... we're on the 4th sailing after the AMPing ..... should be epic.

We are going on a B2B June 14th and 21st, we also cannot wait.

Wife will be upset about Sabor, this was one of our favorites besides the Sabor on Liberty, but I think she will get over it with El Loco Fresh.

I've gotten her now to where she loves Izumi, so that will be a win.

IMO, El Loco Fresh is tastier than Sabor.

I'm not a sports person at all, so I freely admit that I have no understanding of sports watching culture at all. But still... I really don't get why folks would want to spend a chunk of a gorgeous sunny day out on the ocean with all the other things to do on a ship, sitting inside and watching TV.

Does anyone else remember when they used to play the same 3-week-old soccer game over and over again in the "sports bar" on the Radiance class ?  It used to be just outside the casino.  How far the internet at sea has come !  TV reception/schedule, and most particularly, sports, has definitely come a LONG way since those days !!

I understand.  We all have our passions.  Why do people spend time in the casino or sitting at a bar or in the theater playing Bingo or trivia?  I think of it as another form of on board entertainment and a chance to meet total strangers with the same interest as me.

There's something for everyone.

Well now that you put it that way I dont either!  You ruined it!!!

But in all seriousness, its more for at night.  If its sunny out I'd much rather be outside.  But its just another nice option to have after dinner or late night.

We are on FOS June 14, too! Looking forward to cruising on her again since we had many wonderful voyages on her when she was in PORT CANAVERAL (which is NOT Orlando). Will miss Sabor and their great guacamole. Looking forward to Izumi. It does sound like many of same upgrades going on FOS as were put on other ships. Was on Mariner a month ago and we LOVED the laser tag! Loved the Solarium, too. The Sky Pad was surprisingly not a hit with our active and athletic girls, or either of the active and athletic men in our party. We all tried it. Some with goggles, some not. All agreed not going to do again since so many other things to do. Question, why is the Italian dining option staying Giovanni's and not switching to Jamie's?

We spent quite a bit of time in Playmakers in the evenings on the Mariner cruise with multiple generations of our family last month. Yes, many sporting events were on the TVs, but we all were also playing Jenga at the table, and other games. We used Playmakers as a fun rendezvous point (you aren't bored waiting for everyone to reassemble after various activities).

Jamie Oliver went bankrupt, don't know if that is why, speculation on my part, plus Jamies is only currently on Q and O class ships.

Free foosball table on Mariner in Playmakers was a fun surprise!

I'm schedule to go on FoS in Aug 2020..  If Sabor really is going away as everyone assumes, you'd think they wouldn't still be selling Sabor on our Cruise Planners.  If you know it's going away, why leave it in the planner and have folks disappointed when it gets cancelled?  Just like they don't add the key into our planner until a specific time, they should be able to remove / add the correct specialty dining.  at least I'd think they would.
