Brilliance of the Seas

For my Super Bowl cruise on Brilliance the casino smoke was an issue for me at times.  I tend to avoid going through the casino on all ships for this reason.  Brilliance was no better or worse than any other ships.  I did not participate in the "slots pull" for our group because of it.  The pub thankfully wasn't impacted by casino smoke.  On a pub crawl event one stop was the casino bar.  I managed to survive that brief stop in the casino.

On all ships I route my walks on the other side of the pool deck away from the smoking area.  I tend to use the Solarium to cross over to the "good" side of the pool deck.

It all depends on your level of sensitivity to cigarette smoke.

I was so happy we got put on the non-smoking side for the slot pull, yet we all walked thru the smoking area to get there.  So funny; we gathered in the lounge area next to the pub.  Walked through the smoking area to the non-smoking area, which leads to the pub.  We could've just walked thru the pub and entered directly to the slot machine instead of getting all smoky.

We skipped the casino stop on the pub crawl and went straight to the pub. ?

My wife loves the Promenade. I certainly do too, but I think the Promenade's open walkways make the ship feel a bit less "constrictive" than ships with a Centrum.

It probably also has to do with if you are "big ship kind of person" or not.

So...sorry if I missed this answer...but what is the difference between a Promenade and a Centrum?  I'm relatively (fuzzily) sure I've only been on ships with a Promenade...

Promenade basically runs the length of the ship on Voyager, Freedom, Q and O class, deck 5.

Centrum runs up the height (Basically) of the ship middle to front area from Deck 5? up to? I'm not sure, this is not a good description but I really can't remember all of the specifics.

I was on Brilliance the summer of 2017 for a 12 day cruise.  I was impressed by the number of things to do and the quality of entertainment.  I am going to Alaska next year on Serenade, a sister ship, and looking forward to it.

The Radiance class ships are very elegant, IMO.  A lot of wood and glass.  Really stunning views.

...but they do lack a Promenade if that is something that you like.  The Centrum is (as its name implies) a "Central" area of the ship that is open to many stories above it.  It usually has an elegant stair case leading from the Centrum up a deck or 2 (of course, ships with Promenades also have beautiful stair cases).  The retail area on a Radiance class ships is much smaller than on a ship with a Promenade.  The stateroom hallways on Radiance class ships are VERY narrow - in fact Radiance class ships, in general, are very narrow (intentionally).  The Radiance class ships were designed and built to navigate smaller bodies of water so they are overall, smaller than some of the other ship classes.
