I purchased a Jr Suite GTY and was assigned a Jr. Suite.  I also purchased The Key.  I bid on a (RoyalUp) GS, and today that bid was accepted.  Like someone above posted, most of the benefits of The Key are included in the Sky Class  of the GS.  So I quickly went online to cancel The Key.  4 days til cruise day!  Just in time!

Excellent !

I have read one account of someone who was able to get their RoyalUp stateroom assignment changed but I think that was a one-off.  Officially once they accept your offer and charge your credit card you are stuck with whatever they assign you.   It's a little safer in the Suites categories b/c there are few truly bad suites locations.  For the lower categories you are definitely taking a risk.

Curious what suites are in bad locations.  Was planning to bid on grand suite or higher...Tks!

Yes, it seems like they offer the RoyalUp even if there are no cabins available in that/those category.  That way, if they happen to have a higher category cabin cancellation at the last minute they will have everyone poised to move up automatically and fill the higher category cabins.  If nobody cancels, nobody gets an upgrade.

Same exact thing the airlines do with their "Regional Upgrade Certificates".  You are basically added to a wait list if they have open first class seats (available for upgrade) or someone cancels last minute they would LOVE to take your certificate and redeem it to get it off their books.

I have a question on Royal Up, I have never been on a cruise before so I just got the email asking about bidding. Question I have is it only says a price per person. But is that a 1 time fee or is per day. It just ask for an amount per person but can't figure out if its on a per day basis.

Thanks

It is per person for the first 2 people in the cabin only.  And that is a one-time charge for the ENTIRE cruise, not per day!

We are currently booked in 2 balcony cabins. If I submit a bit for a Grand Suite-2 bedroom AND win...what is the penalty for cancelling the two cabins we have now?  I'm nervous to bid, in case we win and then don't know what kind of penalty we might incur for the new 2-bedroom suite...

I don't believe you would be able to cancel the other room and expect those people to be added to your Grand Suite 2BR.  That would cause a repricing of the room to add people.

I knew we would receive the rejections emails as there were nothing available to upgrade too.

Our ship has been sold out for over a month, but several people from my sailing reported that their bids were accepted last Friday. But since I didn't get an acceptance email then I'll assume rejection.  And that's ok.

  • 3 weeks later...

Just put a "bid" in, on Mariner, about a month out.  OV balcony now, bid on a GS.  There are at least 10 left...I'll take that as a good sign we'll get one, depending on how many people ahead of us bid on them.

8-26-19 just got off Mariner today, didn't "win" the bid.  But we were totally fine in our regular balcony cabin.

Got an offer for Anthem on Sept. 12 2 weeks ago.  Not going to bother as no balcony or suites are available and that was per phone calls to RC and our TA.  Already in a balcony and won`t get double points so not worth the effort or the money.  Leaves money in the pocket for dinners, drinks, and casino.  And the heart break of a dear John letter.

Where did you see the status of your bids?

When I click on the link, it says "please ensure your sailing is within the next 30 days" (which it is not) --- how did you get in from March for a May sailing???

Sometimes it becomes available early.  My September 1 Allure sailing is available through the link..we also got an email inviting us to bid.  Others on my sailing were not able to get through on the link, so it's not available for everyone.

Anyone get an accepted bid for symphony sailing on July 27th? My 4 weak bids are still pending.

I'm on that sailing and I noticed that the sailing "sold out" a few weeks ago.  Meaning, it doesn't even show up anymore if you want to do a mock booking.  However, the same thing happened with our Anthem sailing last week and people were still getting bids accepted right up until the last minute.  You never know.  With Royal there is not much rhyme or reason lol.

We just received a Royal Up offer from our JS to bid on GS, OS and the Royal Suite on Majesty.  Since this is a small ship without many of the "Suite" amenities, would it be worth putting in a bid?  What would be the benefit other than we would have more space?  My concern is we would end up over the smoking area.  I can't justify the upgrade cost for the OS or RS but would consider the GS.  This is the first time we have received an offer so all insight is appreciated.

I edited this because you are already in a suite and I misread.

Things to consider-with a royal up bid, you will be assigned a room anywhere on the ship...is that ok to you?  You will not get the extra loyalty points that generally come with a suite when you get a suite as part of royal up...is that ok with you?  Are you ok with paying for upgrade knowing these facts?

Besides the loyalty points, you get all other perks that a regularly booked suite would get, yes?

Got an email the other day saying that I can bid. Question is how much would one pay to go from Crown loft to Star loft? $500,$1000? The price difference if booked is about $5400. Also it's a Caribbean cruise so is it even worth doing? When in port we are only doing one excursion per port so lots of time on the ship. My wife doesn't want to be "one of those people running for the ship"

I agree with @AshleyDillo, the added room the bigger difference to me, a Grand suite is nice.

The minimum bid for us to go from an L1 to TL on Symphony is $1300pp. I did not even consider it. To me that was not worth it. I think I would not pay more than $1000 total for that jump.

My figuring on this is it really depends on how bad you really want to be upgraded, on a recent cruise I was in a Grand suite, Royal up to a Loft Suite with Star class, went on line and found the price for the loft suite, subtracted what I already paid and then offered about 60% of the difference, then about 2 weeks later raised it to about 70%, my point being that if I was going to win the bid and get the room I was going to do it at a discounted rate off the full room price. Otherwise I should have just upgraded to the room at full price because it was still showing available on the web page. But I really wanted to go from Sky class to Star class.

In your case, add up what you are going to or would pay for Deluxe dinning and drink packages, voom, prepaid gratuities etc., on the Crown loft and then add all of the stuff that is included with the Star Loft and Star Class and then make a bid.

Let me say like a lot of other on here, once you've done Star Class it is hard to go back to a regular room.

Sorry yes the minimum bid is $800.00 I was thinking the same that $1000.00 is a fair bid probably not a winning bid as there's only one Star loft that I know of on Allure.

I'm not dead set on any upgrade as I think the Crown loft seems fine from YouTube videos. If I do it it's because of the balcony size and going from Sky to Star class. We don't cruise much so when we do it's the best we can afford. Thank you for the information I'll try that and see if that's a reasonable offer to make.

The Genie experience is amazing and remember that if you get Star Class you don't have to pay for dining packages, drink packages, Chef's Table, or gratuities..so those are some things you can put a monetary value on.  That's about a $1000 value per person in itself if you were thinking about indulging in any of those.

There are 2 Star loft on Allure, 1718 and 1720, one looks out over the mini golf (Back of ship) and the other out over the side, I was just in 1718 (Looks over the side) in January, great room.

Loft verses crown is the loft is a lot wider and has a full bath upstairs and down, 1718 has a very large balcony which is awesome.

Does Majesty have an exclusive breakfast for Suites ?  I have no idea.  Never been on Majesty.

If so, that's a nice perk for a full suite.  I think I would bid to upgrade if I could get an exclusive breakfast location and the ability to get complimentary room service from the MDR menu.  I would assume that they also offer a reserved seating area in the theater if the shows are important to you.

The one available to book is 1718. The YouTube videos only show symphony and oasis and the downstairs has a dual head shower not a full bath. The allure has 2 full baths?
