Casino Royal / Roulette Players / Getting Correct Payout

So I just returned from an amazing time on the Indy for 6 nights.  And on the last night a buddy who was not on the cruise asked me to play $25 on the line between O, OO.  I am not a gambler at all so I had no idea what I was doing.  Anyway, to make a long story short, I got $25 in chips and placed it where he had asked me to and I won!!  The host at the table gave me the winning chips and I went to cashier to cash out.  I was given $297.00.  I then went up to my stateroom to call it a night.  As I was in bed I texted my buddy to tell him he won and how much and he told me that I was not given the correct amount.  He is a gambler and knew the winnings should have been around $450.00.  He wanted me to get out of bed and go up to casino but at that point I really didn't want to.  Now that I am home I am feeling a little disappointed in the casino because they took advantage of me.  Is there anything I can do?

I have no idea about anything that can be done now, but just to check, are you sure you put it in the right spot? It sounds like they paid out as if it was split between 3 numbers. $450 would be if it was where the red X is and if it was where the white X is, it would get you roughly the payout you are saying you received.

Thank You for such a quick response.  I just confirmed with the wife it was where the "red" X is showing.  I think the dealer knew I was new to the game and decided to pull a quick one over me.  Oh Well, live and learn.  I live to a higher authority!

Man that really sucks.  I’m thinking if you returned to the casino they would have corrected the payout.  Cameras everywhere to review the situation.   I only say this because I visited a casino two weeks ago and won a hand and questioned the payout with the dealer.  He said it was correct so I dropped it.  I later returned to the same table to play again and the pit boss came over and gave me the correct payout.  I don’t spend much time in a casino so maybe this situation was rare that they made it right.

@RBRSKI if it makes you feel any better, I’d imagine it can be chalked up more to just human error than them trying to cheat you on purpose. Roulette has a decent amount to keep track of from a dealer perspective payout wise which isn’t an excuse, but they make mistakes sometimes. This past November I actually had a case where I was playing the 12s on the outside (the 1st 12, 2nd 12, 3rd 12 spots) and my bet won but the dealer didn’t notice. I had to quickly stop him from clearing the chips after paying out the other winners to point out that mine won too. He looked embarrassed and apologized while giving me my chips. No harm done, but it goes to show you need to pay attention! It’s just a shame that it happened when you weren’t sure what the payouts should be so that you could correct them.

I really appreciate all of the great explanations on this scenario.  I'll be sure when I travel on the Allure 3/17/19 and make a bet for my friend,  I will watch the payout more closely after I win again!   Also, I gave my sea pass card before play, how many points did I get?

If you made the one bet and left You probably got Maybe one point.. points for table games go by how many hours you play and what your average bet per hand or spin is.. So if you played that one spin I can't imagine you got many points

There is absolutely Zero benefit to the dealer in "ripping you off". It's not like the dealer can pocket the difference, so if you were given an incorrect payout, it would have been a straight out mistake.

For a winning $25 bet as you describe, you should have received winnings of $425 + your $25 bet. I'm not sure about RC procedures, but in some casinos, the original bet will be left on the table for the next spin, and in other casinos the original bet is handed off to the player with the winnings.

I'm also not sure how you could possibly have received $297.

If you did accidentally place the bet where spiralqueen suggested, the payout would have been $275 + your $25 bet.

There is no possible payout for a $25 bet on a roulette table that would result in a $297 payout.

The only thing I can think of is that the dealer paid you out as a bet on 0/00/2, but had a $2 chip mixed in with some $5 chips (called a "dirty stack" in the casino game.

Here is a breakout that my father-in-law, who does gamble, came up with the $297.00

11 X $25 =             275

Original Bet =          25

                                300

She took her tip   -    3

                                 297

The one thing I took from this whole experience, is I will never place a bet in the Casino for a friend for numerous reasons, hate smoke, people seem to be watching every move you make and it's just not my thing sitting at a table or in front of a machine for hours.

Good Luck to all those who play!
