Prime free yearly cruise

I gamble a lot and have never received a free cruise. Guess I better move up to the nickle slots! ??

It may not be worth chasing the free cruise which I think starts at 2400 points in one sailing.  However, my wife took 2 cruises last year and accumulated 2500 points total from those cruises which gave here prime status.  So, we now have a free cruise certificate for her as well.

I booked our Prime cruises for this year months ago and have been paying on them ever since.   I will reprice them using the certificates.  We are doing the B2B Star Class on Anthem again.

Star Class is on my bucket list.  Right now we have 3 kids so the only star class we fit in is the 2 bedroom aqua theater suite which is beyond my reach.  Enjoy the star class for me, WAAAYTOOO!

I will be interested in what you find for pricing.  I called this morning and used to getting around a 60% discount off the total price to upgrade rooms.  When I called this morning to upgrade my prime certificate to a Grand Loft Suite, the discount was only 30%....needless to say, I am going to wait to see if pricing is better in a month or so.  It seems like the upgrade pricing is not as good as last year so I would love to see if you find the same.

Yes, you have to be a dedicated gambler BUT it does pay off...if you early the free certificates and are rated at least at the Prime level (a free cruise every year that you are eligible).

As Traveler said, it's pretty straight forward for slots player but a little more difficult to quantify for table players (like we are).  You just put your butt in a chair at a table and stay there for hours on end.  Pretty easy !  LOL

and hope they correctly identify your average bet and number of hands played.  I know they use a light sensor with a chip to count craps, but in my time at the table, there were definitely instances where they forgot to do it.  sometimes they would flip it a few times to make up for the time they missed, sometimes not.

I spoke with one of the hosts on my cruise to try to figure out the system. I was earning points quickly at blackjack but my husband was lagging behind, similar average bet. The difference between us was the side bet. Host said that the new points system gives tons of points for the sidebet. Sure enough once he started throwing $5 on the side bet, his points rose quickly.  We got more points for the side bet than we did high average bet per hand. Definitely a weird system and not Vegas-like at all.

Nothing about Royal's "point system" makes much sense lol but, thank you for the tip. I am going to try this and see if it helps me gain points.. Really I just want to make sure I get another 2,500 points to keep my status and after that I don't care as much.

Not trying to give away a Star Class secret here, but of all of the Star Class rooms the 2BR Aqua theater suite is the least expensive in my experience, even the 2BR spacious ATS is reasonable, you just have to go out and book them early, start by looking at the Oasis and Allure for the Jan-Apr cruises that are announced already in 2021. You look at Harmony, Symphony and Anthem they start getting more expensive.

I have the 2BR ATS on Oasis booked for just my wife and I and it was very reasonable, just remember when pricing it up everything is included in the price, dinning and drink package, voom and gratuities, etc..

I guess they have just given up trying to have a minimum occupancy on these big suites.  It used to be hard to get the 2 BR ATS for just 2 people.  Now it seems like it's not so hard.  It is an AWFULLY big suite for just 2 but we've done it a number of times. Very nice if you don't mind the walk.

Well, so Royal ripped me a new one on using our prime certificates.  They wanted to charge me so much for my kids in our room that slept 5 that it was actually $6k cheaper for us to get 2 balcony rooms instead of one (and of course there are no connecting rooms).  How does that even make sense?  I wish that Club Royale would send out a survey, but I only ever get surveys that are ship specific.  I hate that the next ship I will probably have to rate lower because this really does affect my perception of the trip.

Interesting that you say this.  Both Dan and I got surveys today from Club Royale.  I expressed my disappointment at the reduced casino comp upgrade discount.  I'm sure that will make all the difference....LOL

Maybe if they send all of us one! Haha....glad to hear that I was not the only one that thought they handled the upgrade discount poorly

I got the survey today as well.  I didn't think to mention how hard it is to try to use the certificates for a cruise.  My daughter actually plays more than me and gets free cruises while I only get $ off but she isn't 21 so she cannot book her own free cruise she earns.  So hubby has to book his room with 2 of the kids and then put my daughter and I in her cabin.

We just booked another free casino cruise today for January and the KSF was going on but in order to get our little one in we still needed to pay a service charge because the free balcony was one that only allowed 2 people.  Now I cannot complain too much since with the two certificates for free cruises (one balcony and one interior) for a family of 5 with port fees it was under $900.  We selected a local port so no airfare either.

I just got their survey.....I roasted them a little bit....I just got off the Anthem and they had the Texas Hold'em table Trips bet max set at $50 (It is $100 on other ships)....I was pissed.  This was also the first sailing with Royal where I did not get a free cruise cert on the last day.  Instead I got $500 off...and I'm thinking 'those bastards' they know I haven't scheduled anything with my free prime cruise yet and wouldn't give me something that might net me a larger discount on my next cruise OR since the table max was lower...I didn't get as many points since my betting style was altered.

Wow. I’ve never known them to set the trips bet limit to less than $100. I guess they’ve gotten burned with some heavy wins.

I hope you mentioned something about the reduced comp discounts...

I mean I keep giving it back to them after I win in other forms ;).

I mean this was the 3rd cruise in 8 months....and we've got another one in August now.   I think the kids are going to have cruise fatigue
