Cruising the world
When we are eligible to book our free cruise this April are we able to book anywhere RCCL sails, such as Med, Northern Europe, Norway, on any 8 night or less sailing? Sweety
Good Question.
dodgestang
My understanding is....yes....as long as it isn't a holiday.
Traveler
I asked Club royal the same question a week ago. You can book any cruise as long as it is no more than 8 days and its not an holiday cruise (I guess US holidays), you can use it to non US cruise (I asked about Med and Asia and they said yes). The cruise value for upgrade is the basic room price they can find for you so if you find a cruise that the inside room (for prime) is 2000$ and the ocean view is 2100 $ you will pay 100$ for the upgrade. For holiday cruises or 9 + days you can still use it but the value will be only 800 $ Please remember , from many people experience, you might get different answers from different representatives ... also those are the current roles for April 2018 -April 2019 , they might change it for the next Club royal year ... Ndfan89
So you get the certificate in April And Cruise has to be taken by March of 2020? Is that correct?

Yes. 1 April 2019 - March 31, 2020, which will be the next casino rating year. Even though you may have already qualified for next year (a minimum of 2400 casino points), you will not officially be qualified for the 2019-2020 year until after 1 April 2019. That's why I track my casino points VERY carefully. I do not want the heartburn of having to try and prove to them that I have already qualified and have them tell me that, no, I haven't. I do not trust their system AT ALL. 8 days or less, no US holidays (although I have one booked for President's Day week this year (22 days from now) so YMMV. Definitely NOT for any of the biggie holidays like Christmas, NY, 4th of July or Thanksgiving. Any Royal Caribbean cruise. As Traveler said, the certificate is for the lowest price cabin in the category (which, for us, is interior since we're Prime) but you can upgrade to any cabin category you want and pay the upgrade fee, which is very, very reasonable (you will not have to pay the published price...they give you a casino rate for the upgrade and it's a great deal). For suites, the discount for Prime members is about 60% off the published, discounted rate. I don't think the discount is quite that good on other cabin categories, but if you have ever thought about splurging and getting a suite, this is THE time to do it. You will never get one cheaper. The same applies for all "free" cruises that you win with a certificate from the casino. The $$ off certificates are useless. Each 5$ you play is 1 point so to reach to 2400 points you need to play 2400*5= 12000$ ... If the house edge for slots is around 10% (which I think in RC its bigger but we will use it for the example) your Theoretical lost is 1200$ ... WAAAYTOOO
Yes, you have to be a dedicated gambler BUT it does pay off...if you early the free certificates and are rated at least at the Prime level (a free cruise every year that you are eligible). As Traveler said, it's pretty straight forward for slots player but a little more difficult to quantify for table players (like we are). You just put your butt in a chair at a table and stay there for hours on end. Pretty easy ! LOL Minicruiser

KJ1231
I was thinking about my 5-nighter a couple weeks ago. I played blackjack one night for 3 hours betting $15-$30 per hand. I played 3-card poker one afternoon for a 2 hours and again that night for a about 4 hours betting at least $25 per hand. I sent an email to Casino Royale and they told me for that cruise I earned 688 points. I had just 38 points from our first-ever cruise. We have a 3-nighter coming up in March and looks like I need almost 1,700 points to make PRIME. Would prefer not to play slots and wondering how many hours at $25 per hand I would have to play to earn 1,700 points? Are the certificates for one person or two? Boy, that's so hard to quantify. It is so much harder to determine your points when you're playing table games. I recommend that you speak with the casino host or one of the pit bosses and see if they can recommend anything. That also accomplishes another goal, which is to make yourself known to the "honchos" and let them know that you are looking to be "rated". It helps. Just now, KJ1231 said: Are the certificates for one person or two? All certificates are always for 1 stateroom, double occupancy, so 2 people. YIPPEE !! Sweety
I am spending a lot of time planning my free cruise. Should I connect to another cruise? Should I cancel one cruise and upgrade to a longer cruise this holiday? I know that I will only get 800 towards the cruise. @WAAAYTOOO, made an awesome recommendation to upgrade to a suite. A suite on Anthem would be great. Decisions, decisions and this is finals for the semester end. Back to grading.
melmar02
How do you join? Is there a separate card, like in a land based casino, do you register your sea pass with the casio when you get there?
WAAAYTOOO
You “join” automatically when you put your Seapass card in a slot machine or the dealer scans your card at a table. Your play is tracked, you accumulate points and are ultimately rated into 1 of the 4 player categories. Points are cumulative throughout the “casino year” (1 Apr-31 Mar) and you are rated to that level for the entire next year (unless you happen to play into a higher level during the year....they will not downgrade you but you can be upgraded) and begin being rated for the next year and so on... In addition to the “free” annual cruise (for Prime and above) you can receive reward certificates on individual cruises based on your play (a number of factors apply) and you can receive snail mail and email offers for comped or discounted cruises on specific sailings. There are also casino discounts available when booking through the casino but those are esoteric and nobody understands how those work. Very few offered anymore unless upgrading a comp cruise offer. Morten Andersen
Hi all. I am new to the forum, but have followed it for a while. Me and my girlfriend are both prime and want to book our next cruise in July. However, the sail dates we would like, are starting to get sold out. I have been in contact with Royal Casino multiple times to ensure we could book as soon as we recieved our free cruise codes. Firstly they said 1st of April, but that didnt happen. Then they said 8th of April. Still nothing. Now a week later, they wont even give us a date. They just tell us they are working on it. It's very frustrating when you see the cruise you want slip away. They said its mainly because the are working on getting the points right for their guest on March cruises. Fair enough, but it makes no sense that the ones who secured prime status a long time ago has to wait for this. They could simply issue them at seperate times instead of waiting to issue all at the same time.
DrRyan
Morten, I agree completely... My situation is that we booked the cruise we wanted to have the cabin we wanted and apply the certificate later. I owe the full cruise fare tomorrow or it will be canceled. If it cancels, I lose my deposit. If I pay in full I cant use my prime certificate. So, its lose thousands either way. If you can't do what you say your are going to do, then at least make some accommodations for your loyal customers. Here is to hoping they are issued tomorrow! DrRyan
Morten, Also, in general you can book with the deposit to save your room and then apply your certificate later. However, if you don't get the certificate prior to 90 days before the sailing, you end up in my situation as stated above.

Morten Andersen
Well, I guess it helped to let out a little steam My girlfriends offer was on clubroyaleoffers.com this morning! Mine was not however, which is strange (we earned the status on the same cruise, and our crown and anchor numbers are only 7 numbers apart). Also, she didn't receive an email or any notification. Actually, in the 3 years we have been members of the club, we have never received a single email from them. But... I am just happy something is happening and I am sure mine is on the way. Finally And regarding booking the cruise in advance, I was advised not to do it, since we want to cruise in July, and as you said, you risk not being able to redeem the offer if you get to close to the sail date. And DrRyan, you got yours just in time. Good for you!
