Black Friday was Interesting

We're sailing on the Symphony in May so I was very interested in the Black Friday sales. I was able to purchase the 4 night specialty dining package for $115 per person (not great but not bad) and the Refreshment package for $17 per person. What's interesting is that RCL almost immediately stopped offering the 4 night specialty package at any price and the refreshment package went right back up to $26 per person. The Deluxe package briefly dipped from $52 pp to $49 pp and then went right back up to $52 pp. We signed up for the All Access Ship Tour but that price never moved. The price of our St Kitts shore excursion actually went up a couple of dollars. It would be interesting to see what the RCL logic is in these sale prices.

I got some really great deals on my excursions for the Mediterranean next summer.  I didn't look at the drink prices though because 12 days is just too expensive to pre-buy at any price.  I wish I had decided we were definitely going on spring break allure though... Because I really would rather not pay $56 a day and I bet there were at least slight deals on that.  Jane

For anyone interested in the drink package check the price today. I am sailing on Harmony in February and it has been at $52 a day consistently (About $850 for 2 people). The price went down to $49 on black Friday but I didn't book it, which I regretted. After that it went back up to $52 a day and I was hoping for a Christmas sale to come along to get it back to $49. I checked today, as I do everyday, and it was back at $49 so I booked it. I am not sure why it went down, maybe they just hadn't booked very many packages for my sailing, but perhaps yours has gone down too. Hopefully it will go down even more if there is some kind of Christmas sale and I can re-book it.

After checking My June 2019 Harmony sailing just now, I see the DBP is up to $56.  Was steady at $52, even on Black Friday.  Really thinking about not booking for this sailing.  We are Diamond now(3 happy hour drinks) and 4 port days,  I’m not sure the value is there for us anymore.   Even though one port day is CoCoCay.  Although my DW wants to prepurchase and move on.  Maybe that makes sense.

Yes....After my declaration (above) that the prices have not come down since BF/CM, I checked after posting above to find that, in fact, the drink packages HAVE come back down again.  I got an email advertising a "sale" on drink packages but I just ignore those emails b/c what's a "sale" to them is generally NOT a savings to me.  But in this case, I think it might be legit.  So if you've been waffling on the drink package, take a look today. It might be back down to a previous, affordable number.

Dan is so funny about the drink package.  He always tells me NOT to buy it...but then I do anyway...and then he loves it when he has it.  Even though we get drinks in the CL/SL and we drink for free in the casino, it's for those times when we are in NEITHER of those places that we really enjoy having the drinks package.  Most particularly, during meals and that welcome aboard drink in the champagne Lounge/R Bar.  I will say though...2 drinks package for a 12 night holiday cruise is still pricey.  YIKES !  I hope we can hang for 12 nights. There are 7 sea days in there though.  Gotta do som'n to pass the time on a sea day !

I got an email today and managed to book for my March allure at $49/day.  It saved us about $100 down from $56/day.  Somehow 7 days seems ok in the Caribbean but there is just no way I am going to buy for our 12 day Greek/med cruise.  We have 4 sea days and I already told my husband that I'm not counting drinks those days!  We would likely lose money on him for 12 days and at least 3 days we will be off the ship all day (Rome, Florence and Athens).  I know the post cruise bill drill just kill me though.  Jane
