  1. Anyone on this cruise? Looking for recommendations on places to stay on the front or back end before our flights. We will have 1-2 days on either end. Thanks!
  2. First time visiting Greece, Turkey, and Italy. Looking for suggested shore excursions and how to make the most of our time! Traveling with two teenagers- 16 and 14.
  3. We are booked on the RCL "Explore Rome" (self-guided) tour on 25 May. The drop-off / pick-up points are supposed to be near the Vatican, but could be anywhere up to 0.6 miles away apparently. Does anyone know more precisely where these points are located, as it would help in planning a walking route to visit the key sites within central Rome and get back to the bus in time.
  4. My SO and I have these excursions booked for our cruise coming up in September. Just wanted any feed back for this cruise itinerary, ship (odyssey), and these excursions if anyone has any experience with them! Were also doing Athens but were going to do that outside of Royal as they didnt really have many good options and the one they did have got booked up super early. Thank you for any help!
  5. Hello All! We are planning a cruise out of Venice that debarks in Rome and looking for suggestions and recommendations for transportation from: VCE>Hotel in Venice Hotel>Port Port>Hotel in Rome Hotel>FCO Thanks in advance!
  6. Hello all! My family and I are going on Odyssey of the Seas in July. Being our first cruise, as you can imagine we are a bit stressed about the whole thing. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with landing at Ciampino and travelling from there to Civitavecchia. My main question is how long after landing should I book check in? I'm not sure how long it should take to leave the airport but know the drive by taxi can take anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours. Thanks in advance!
  7. Harmony of the seas, same dates, different departure ports. How Its possible. Departure from Rome on 2/sep for 7 nights cruise, Departure from Barcelona on 5/sep also for 7 nights, same ship
  8. My daughter is graduating high school so we booked a Greek Islands cruise on Jewel of the Seas, June 23 - June 30, 2019. This is our first time to Europe and my mother in law (who has never flown or been out of the Southeast US) is also going with us on this girls trip. What are the must sees and do's? We'd like a nice mix of historical sites, beaches and landscape sightseeing - without paying a fortune. At this rate, our flight may be more expensive than the cruise. ? Any other tips or tricks? Any must do's on the cruise ship? Thanks yall! 3
  9. Hi everyone, I'm a multiple time Royal Carribean (RCCL) cruiser here (we love RCCL) and I thought I'd share that I took my family of 7 (80 yr old in laws, wife and 3 teenagers) in July 2018 on a Mediterranean cruise with RCCL and it was a great cruise with only one problem that our three sleeping cabins got flooded one day at 4:00 am when a pipe burst in the hallway. However, RCCL gave us all a fair cruise credit for the inconvenience and overall we still had a great time. We drove from Portland Oregon to San Jose, CA flew to London England where we spent a couple days in London and then flew to Barcelona spent a couple days there then departed on RCCL ship and ours stops where Cannes, Florence, Rome, Athens, Mykonos, Santorini and Malta. RCCL ship and staff were fantastic with great customer service, nightly shows, tasty food and smooth sailing. Tip! In July much of the time and some of the places we toured it was hot in the 90s F (32c) and lots of walking in hot sun on marble tile so if you don't like hot weather go earlier in the year! We loved seeing all the history in the buildings and people we saw and met on this cruise. We think we could skip Malta Valletta as we didn't like it there as much as the other stops. I did make 12 vlogs of our entire trip if you are interested in seeing where we went and hearing more commentary. However, I don't know if it's allowed to post a link here to my Youtube channel so I'll just say you can go to Youtube search for RockstarBruski and click on the the cruise playlist, scroll down and look for the 2018 Europe Mediterranean family vacation vlog series of 12 videos. I included a pic of my whole family in front of the ship pose. So cheesy but so fun! Cheers and keep on cruising! ? RockstarBruski
  10. Greetings Fellow Vision of the Seas Cruisers, My husband and I have booked a private car to take us into Rome on May 21st. We are doing our own thing in the city for the day and wanted reliable transportation into and out of the city without the hassle of trains or buses. We have room for up to 4 more passengers and it is a flat fee split between the number of passegers. The car will be able to pick us up/drop us off right below our cruise ship - another nice convenience. If you are interested in joining us for the ride to and from Rome on May 21st, please check out this link (https://www.civitavecchiaport.org/shared-shuttle-service/) and look for the VandeStadt Group on May 21. We are scheduled to depart for Rome at 8 am and be dropped off near the Colosseum and meet our driver for return to the ship around 4pm near St. Peter's Basilica. I imagine drop off places and return time can be changed if needed via a discussion with the driver on the day of service. Looking forward to making some new acquaintances on the ride/cruise!!
  11. Just listened to Matt's latest podcast and in the listener email portion he read one from someone who used Rome Car Tours (I believe that is the name of the business). I am trying to find out if the listener is on these here boards and if so I'd like to ask some questions. My wife and I are sailing the Symphony this October and wanted to book an excursion into Rome or the Amalfi Coast.
