  1. Lots of dining open for our Utopia sailing but I can't find a tentative menu or a way to book this immersive experience. Any idea? Cost? Royal Railway is not on my cruise planner, does anyone have it yet? @Matt @Sharla @AshleyDillo
  2. On the 3 night dining package it says 3 specialty AND $20 per day at Ala carte restaurants. Does this mean you get to do 3 specialty PLUS use $20 a day at Ala carte or is it one or the other?
  3. Brand new to Cruising - first timer. Booked Adventure of the Seas later this summer. On that ship, what dining options are NOT included with the price of the cruise? Based on the app, my guess is Chef's Table, Chops Grille, Giovanni's Table, Izumi Sushi. And it looks like Room Service is $7.95 plus 18% gratuity. Thank you!
  4. When will I be able to book restaurants on the July cruise?
  5. Can you "wander in" and be seated and order sushi or do you need a formal dinner reservation? I know there are some places where you can order ala carte and not have a formal reservation. This would be for the Quantum of the Seas. Also, with a reservation at Izumi, is sushi on the menu as part of the meal or is it extra/add on?
  6. Looking for any insight anyone has for New years eve sailings. What kind of "special" menu was offered etc? We start our cruise on dec 31st and wondering if they automatically make it dress your best or anything like that.
  7. Does anyone have a favorite lesser know free food item while cruising or Food Hacks. Pre covid I would make Ranger cookie ice-cream sandwiches.
  8. I've cruised a lot with Royal and everything has always been available on CP far in advance. We cruise dec on Odyssey and April on Icon. Oddly icon has dining packages available to book but odyssey still says "amazing experiences coming soon". Any rhyme or reason why its still not available but is for a ship not yet built? And any guess when it will pop up?
  9. Does anyone have tips on when to go and where to sit in the MDR on specific ships or all the ships in general so that one could avoid the part of the dinner when the music starts playing and the napkins start twirling and the conga lines start going? We, in the past, have done specialty dining or Windjammer for dinner and would like to give MDR another chance but the one time we went, the party and napkin twirling weren't our style.
  10. Hey everyone- New here. Infrequent cruiser and first time Quantum Class cruiser. Getting mixed information from my Travel agent and from this blog/youtube. Wanted input from folks who have cruised recently. We will be traveling to Alaska in June/July. Had planned to eat some in the bistro. I have 2 boys 12 and 15. Will they be allowed to dine in the Solarium Bistro as they are not "adults". Also the Cruise planner has a option to reserve and evening "reservation" We are considering this but wondering if it is complimentary or there is a cost? If there is an al a acarte price has anyone done this and know the range of the cost? Thanks so much. Angela
  11. So I added the unlimited alcoholic drink package and a "Chops + 1" dining package on the royal caribbean website and left them in my shopping cart. When I added them to my cart, they had a discounted price. I actually didn't end up purchasing them and they are still in my cart at the "discounted" price, but the alcoholic package is more expensive right now. Does anybody know if I continue to check out if it will go to the discounted price when I added it to my cart or the "current" price advertised on the site? This may be a nice hack to at least add the items to your shopping cart to do like a soft "lock" on the price if you can't afford to pay right at that moment. Does anybody have any experience with this?
  12. We have purchased the UDP and have booked Jaime's and Chops for dinner on a few nights. Our friends want to join us on two of those nights. They do not have the UDP and are inquiring about the per person cost for each restaurant. Has anyone sailed on Quantum recently that could give me an idea of what the prices were looking like? Pictures of the menus would also be helpful. Thank you!
  13. Are you able to purchase a couple 3 day dining packages within the same cruise? My husband and I will be doing an 8 night cruise coming up but the unlimited dining package seems too much as we won’t utilize it all 8 nights and we don’t have the desire to use it for lunch on sea days. However we think 6 nights of it would be nice and don’t want to spend all the money on individual reservations. So would we both be able to buy two 3 day dining packages? Thank you for any info!!
  14. Hi guys! First time cruiser-to-be here, getting ready for my independence of the seas cruise next week. I made a reservation for Izumi Hibachi for 45.99. I’ve seen the menu online, and saw that you have 2 teppanyaki options, for 2 different price levels. So, how does that work exactly? Didn’t I pay in advance? And what if I wish to get the more expensive option? Got a bit confused there. thank you! And safe cruising for everyone.
  15. Going on Harmony in February for our 2nd cruise. Have noticed there are multiple Main Dining Rooms on the ship. What's the difference between them? Also, I noticed you can eat breakfast and lunch there as well. Out last cruise we ate in the MDR twice for our formal nights. Are you only allowed to eat in the MDR a certain amount of times throughout your cruise?
  16. Update 01/03/2022 We had a wonderful time. We did get all of our prescheduled things added back in with the exception of one but we were we able to add the Chef's table for NYE on RCCL because of onboard credit. However we still have not seen our original refunds to our account from DEC 16th "glitch" How this gets handled decides if and when we cruise again... Update12/27/2021 We have a a cabin annnd after 10+ days and prolly 200emails our Travel agent worked a miracle for us. Apparently we were caught in a software system change... So because we literally cannot get back our purchases ourselves and in some cases it's now sold out. They upgraded our excursion to the VIP one for same price they also gave us our unlimited specialty dining package free. So we arrive at Port tomorrow and pray all these emails of documentation work. We were told to report to embarkment at 11 and they would have everything fixed for us... Soooo last Thursday I received a reminder that it was an oportunity to book extras prior to boarding our Mariner of the Seas NYE trip, leaving DEC 28, I clicked on it to see if there were any new prices from my original paid. Well to my surprise the other couple's confirmation number was there but ours POOF gone. I tried to add it back and it said it didn't exist. Whaaaa? So I called my travel agent. She goes on her system and it was cancelled. Yes cancelled. She got on the phone with RCCL. The person escalated it and they said was clearly on their side and it was a glitch they said. It took nearly 7 hours to get my reservation back, but all of my great priced items were gone. Yes my cabin is there and I have my seapass but the stuff I already purchase was gone because guess what people snapped those right up. They told me to put everything I could back in my cart and they would fix it with onboard credit to offset new cost. Cool right? NO! because the account is still locked 5 days later and I can't pay for anything nor is it possible for me make any other plans. The RC agent told my TA that the IT department had to unlock it. My TA has spoken with them multiple times now since Friday morning at 8am . I am pretty upset and very irritated at this point that RC couldn't fix. My biggest grump is all my reservations that had limited space with our friends are completely gone. Our NYE plans are tanked as well... To add to all of this my FCCs from 2019. that were applied to another cruise (that was cancelled) were in some sort of freeze so they didn't get applied and they are now saying too late to applie them. It will be our first RC trip. My hubs is ready for it to be never. Advice on salvaging our trip?
  17. Hello cruisers! I'm traveling on Allure of the Seas in December and I'm wondering if there's any restraunts (preferably complimentary) that offer Caviar? My folks want to try caviar and I heard there's caviar in some RCL ships. I'm wondering if it's on Allure but places where first time cruisers (no diamond bar unfortunately) can experience?
  18. I have a bunch of random dining questions so I'm just going to throw them all in here: 1. Is it actually worth it to buy a dining plan for a five night cruise? 2. Thinking about purchasing the chops plus one option. Has anyone ever done this and enjoyed it? 3. Does the $35 come with the chops plus one plan? Does it still not apply to izumi? Would it work for lobster in the main dining room? The reason I'm asking is because there's such limited dining on our ship, there aren't too many a la carte options that I'm aware of... I'm sure there are many lol 4. We're thinking about purchasing a beach club pass. How's the food at the beach club? I heard it's worth the purchase just for that! 5. With the dining plan, I know you have to schedule your first choice either the first or second night. What night would you guys recommend skipping the MDR? Right now, my plan is to eat in the main dining room on the first night, and the two port days, specialty dining during sea days. Is there any specific days you would also recommend going to the MDR?
  19. Hi! Have been stalking for a bit, first time poster :). We are scheduled on Allure for July 25th in a Grand Suite 2 bedroom. I'm remaining hopeful that we'll actually sail but I'm considering my options for dining, as I don't see the point in dealing with the mask wearing in between bites when I have my own awesome table on my own awesome balcony. Will I be able to get take out from the specialty restaurants and bring it back to my room? If so, do I need to reserve this or can I just call down and order and then pick it up later? Or do I have to order in person? Can I do unlimited orders from each restaurant to bring back to my room to have a huge feast? Can I also order take out from CK? I will miss being served by wait staff, but it's worth it to avoid the awkwardness of masks while dining (unless they move a lot of their dining outdoors, then I'd opt for that.) Thanks for your feedback!!
  20. I have a few questions about the specialty dining on our Oasis cruise in June. As of now I haven't purchased any dining plans (the only extra we have purchased is the refreshment package), but trying to figure out if it would be beneficial or not. We aren't foodies so I think we'd be fine eating at the MDR. However, I know we will be visiting the BBQ because DS is a huge bbq lover, and probably Playmakers, and the kids love hibachi and Italian. So knowing that, it may be about the same price to get the 3 night dining package. With the 3 night package, do you have to go at dinner or can you go at lunch time? Or with the UDP can you visit lunch and dinner? Also, I have two kids under 5 (and a 13 yr old). How does that work with the specialty dining? I see in the small print it in the dining packages it says that children 0-5 are complimentary if they eat off of the kids menu. Is that true with any of the specialty restaurants? If I get dining packages, would I just get them for the 3 adults? How would that work with reservations - would we make a reservation for all 5 of us and then the two little ones wouldn't be charged? Just trying to get everything straight so I have an idea of what to do before I get there! Thanks!!
  21. Hi everyone! First time cruiser here (unless you count a cruise when I was 14 yrs old having everything booked by family). Bf and I are going on Oasis in May 2020 to port Canaveral, coco cay and Nassau. I have a few questions that I’m hoping can be answered. Thanks in advance! a. How are the clubs on royal Caribbean ships? (Or oasis specifically) Do they get pretty packed? How late are they open and is the music good? I have nyc clubs to compare it to in my mind b. At the clubs if we wanted tequila shots with the unlimited drinking package, how often could we get them or is there a specific time period we’d have to wait between each shot? c. Why is it impossible to find a drink menu for oasis anywhere? I want to make sure drinks I would want are included in the unlimited package. For example how much is a frozen pina colada? (A drink I see myself having a lot of) margarita? mojito? d. How does it work if we do not want to pay gratuity in advance? Our travel agent says on the last night of the trip they will put tip envelopes for cash in our room, is that how it actually works or is there another way to self pay gratuity? e. How does making my time dining reservations go? As well as theater and aquatheater reservations? f. For people who have been to the water park at coco cay and Atlantis, which is better? g. Any first time cruiser advice that you think is absolutely necessary? h. How are speciality restaurants on oasis? Interested in the bbq place and playmakers bar thank you all!!
  22. So there have been a lot of posts here lately about getting tables for two. I figured I'd turn it on its head and ask about being a party of only two or four, but wanting the biggest table possible so we have that "classic" experience of meeting new people and having good, long, fun conversation (hopefully with a lot of laughs). Getting a table for two apparently requires sending an email request or making a phone call to RCI. Does wanting to be at a big table also require this? On my cruise on Freedom we're a party of four and I seem to remember reading that this size party is normally placed at a table for four even with traditional dining. Also, from what I remember of the photos of most MDRs in Royal's lineup, those big tables are typically on the lowest floor in the central open area at the bottom of the stairs. Has anyone been seated at these who can describe the foot traffic around there during the dinner rush? Are you shouting over the bustle of dozens or hundreds of wait staff and passengers moving around you, or once everyone is seated does it reasonable settle down and you can have a good meal with good conversation? Side question -- do they have live music (piano, string quartet, etc.) during the meals in MDR? I've seen some photos that do show a piano in the center hall area on the lowest floor of the MDR, but just because the instrument is there doesn't mean it's actually played.
  23. One more week we'll be on Navigator for our first cruise. I've already made MTD reservation at MDR for the last night, hopefully to catch the farewell performance. As first time cruisers, my mom and I would be thrilled to experience it. But as I was doing research online, I saw someone mentioned some cruises stop doing it already coz people really hate it and find it annoying and awkward. Does anyone know whether MDR staff on Navigator still do farewell performance on the last night? If they do, what time the performance will take place? Does 8 pm reservation sound good? Thank you ?
  24. I tried searching but couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I have read somewhere that MDR is open for breakfast, and that it's also open seating. 1. Is it buffer, or is it served? 2. Is the food same as WJ offering, or is there a different menu? 3. What's the dresscode for breakfast at the MDR? Does it have a "high end breakfast vibe" and therefore you should dress up a bit, or people just show up in whatever (shorts and t-shirts)? 4. For you personally, what would make you eat breakfast in the MDR, versus WJ, versus room service (provided that you're only ordering the free items)? Does it differ between port days and sea days? TIA
  25. so i recently went on carnival valor for a 5 day cruise, and was surprised to find out they only do lobster night on 6 day or more cruises. what is the policy on rcl? i read that formal night will be night 2, but that is our anniversary, and we already have reservations at chops. thanks!
