  1. First time cruising from Southampton. Can we make it from Southampton to Heathrow to make a 4pm flight? Any suggestions on how to get back to Heathrow as fast as possible? Thank you.
  2. Unvaccinated Americans to face tighter COVID testing requirements in new US travel system The U.S. will roll out a new travel system in two weeks that will open borders up for millions of vaccinated international visitors. The system launching Nov. 8 will end the U.S. travel ban that has been in place for dozens of countries since the start of the pandemic. It will also make reentry more challenging for unvaccinated U.S. citizens and permanent residents and establish stringent testing requirements for the rare unvaccinated foreign nationals allowed entry. "For anyone traveling to the United States who cannot demonstrate proof of full vaccination, they will have to produce documentation of a negative test within one day of departure," instead of the current three days, according to the White House. Fully vaccinated Americans will still have a three-day window for COVID-19 testing with negative results, but if they are not able to show proof of vaccination, they too will be subject to the one-day testing requirement.... 3. Hello friends, Assuming things are safe and under control by then, my husband and I have our lifted and shifted honeymoon sailing on Navigator in September. Since the ship leaves on Monday, we are thinking of flying into Orlando earlier in the weekend, spending a few days there, and then heading to Miami to meet the ship. I have heard mention of a rental car option at the Port of Miami, but in searching online haven't found an address or anything solid. Could anyone direct me to a site or address or let me know what companies are options right there at the port? We'd prefer to rent a car in Orlando, return it at the port, and get on the ship from there. Thank you!
  4. I have never purchased travel insurance since I started cruising the summer of 2013, but I am starting to think that I should purchase travel insurance! Do you think that I should purchase travel insurance for my cruise on Odyssey in December 2021 because I am traveling with a senior citizen who I don’t think has any problems when traveling on cruise ships that requires her to go to the medical center. Also I am thinking about purchasing travel insurance is that my mother & I both have a “pre-existing” condition which is manageable by taking medication! In your opinion should I purchase travel insurance? Or if you or someone on your cruise reservation had “pre-existing” conditions that is manageable by taking medications would you purchase travel insurance? If you do think that I should purchase travel insurance from should I purchase the cruise line travel insurance or is there any other company that sells travel insurance who has lots of clientele and has a very high excellent reviews and ratings that you think I should use? ALL THOUGHTS ABOUT VARIOUS TRAVEL INSURANCE COMPANIES, & THE CRUISE LINE TRAVEL INSURANCE IS WELCOME.
  5. Researching a card that does not assign foreign transaction fees as after my last sailing I was surprised how they added up. ( I wrongly assumed my card didn't charge for this) Anyway, it sure does not look as if there are very many perks accept this and a minimal OBC when getting the RCCL card. Thoughts? Is there an incentive for maybe getting this card on my next sailing versus applying via the bank? Thanks everyone?
  6. Seatrade Cruise Global, is the cruise industry's biggest annual conference and trade show. It is going on this week in Florida a panel of the four powerhouse CEO in the business talked about Cuba. Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd, Arnold Donald, president and CEO of Carnival Corp. & PLC; Frank Del Rio, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.; and Pierfrancesco Vago, executive chairman of MSC Cruises. These four gentleman control the cruise industry Worldwide. And they seem to be looking at one target in the North American market Cuba. Really this comment from Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd says it all. "What [Cuba] will do, and it's already doing in some sense, is create a halo of interest, and as people start to go and talk about Cuba, I think it will raise the Caribbean in total... It adds 2 percent or 5 percent to the supply of places to go, and it will add 10 percent to 20 percent to the demand for cruising." A new port within 90 miles of the United States with strong ties to southern Florida will be available. Cuba is within on short nights cruising from any of the ports in Florida, it is also a great option for the cruises from the Gulf of Mexico. The lines are no longer tied to the hop to the Bahamas, which so many cruisers have already done. The lines can now run short (once approved) with a stop in Cuba to meet the International requirements. A 20% increase in cruise interest is almost unbelievable these CEO must look at it like hitting the lottery. I'm sure Royal will be a big player in this market and maybe the biggest. Before some jump in and talk about the past history with Cuba, the people, the Cuba Americans, please remember Japan and Germany did far worst things to the Untied States and the West. No one is calling for cruises to Japan to be stopped because of the past. It going to be a very good thing for cruise lines, passengers, and the people of Cuba.
  7. My partner likes to collect foreign currency. He'd prefer to get "nice" looking bills/coins from banks of countries that he travels to. Does anyone else do this, and what has your experience been like on cruises? We'll be looking for: Nassau, Bahamas (Bahamanian Dollar) St. Maarten (Dutch Antillean Guilder) (He's not interested in the Euro). We've scouted out banks near port at each location, but are unsure JUST how difficult it'll be.
