  1. I know this question comes up semi-regularly, so when this story showed up in my Google feed I figured I'd pass it on for future travelers. There's quite a bit of info all in one place: https://kessiworld.com/travel-blogs/train-from-seattle-to-vancouver/
  2. Going with our 3 grown kids and spouses/partners. Had to schedule that far out due to summer plans already in place for 2022. Really juiced about going since we have been pretty much locked down due to Covid. Mrs Fan and I retired Jan 2020, about 2 months before Covid slammed everything. We had hoped to travel a bunch, but it was not to be. We had to cancel an Alaska Cruise that was supposed to sail in May 2020. We've been to Alaska before with Princess, the others have not. We did a bunch of excursions on our last trip (float plane, whale watching, White Pass train). This time, I want to do a fishing charter for salmon or halibut at one of the stops. Mrs Fan says she will cancel unless she is booked for at least 1 spa day on board - LOL. Probably nothing else at the other stops, but I am telling the kids to do the White Pass Train. Never sailed with RCCL and really look forward to the new experience.
  3. For all you Seattle Alaska cruisers flying to your cruise be aware that the Port of Seattle offers a free luggage valet. This program is offered free by the Port of Seattle and does not carry a charge like the Luggage Valet program offered by Royal Caribbean at some Florida based ports. Luggage valet is a program for those flying from SeaTac (SEA) airport. You register around day 3 of the cruise providing your flight details then later in the cruise you will be provided special luggage tags for any checked bags you plan to fly home with. On the last night of the cruise you place your luggage out in the hall and it will be delivered to the airport and your airline for you. You don't have to handle your luggage again until you arrive at your destination airport. To take advantage of this program there are eligibility criteria: You must disembark between 7am and 9:15am Your flight must depart at 12pm or later the same day that you disembark. You must be flying from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SeaTac, SEA) You must have a confirmed airline reservation Participating Airlines: American Airlines Alaska Airlines JetBlue Airways Delta Airlines (domestic only) United Airlines Southwest Airlines (flights between 12pm and 6pm only) Any baggage fees charged by your airline will still apply. Remember to NOT pack any medication, valuables, identification and documentation like passports plus a change of clothes for the day you disembark. Here is the luggage valet form that should be delivered to your cabin around day 3 of your cruise: SEA Luggage Valet.PDF
  4. Hello, and thank you for reading. My parents are traveling to Alaska on the Explorer of the Seas over their 40th Anniversary. This is special not only because it's 40 years, but they have never taken a cruise as a couple and never been to Alaska (or Seattle!). Their three sons have created a photo album book that we would very much like for them to open on the cruise ship during their vacation, however, Royal WILL NOT allow us to ship them anything, and will not assist in getting it on the boat for us. My Ask; I'm looking for someone traveling on this same ship to deliver the album to my parents. We can ship the book anywhere in the US, but really haven't much time. If you are going on the Explorer of the Seas to Alaska on July 28th - 16 days - please reply with your contact info, or send me a direct message if you'd be willing to deliver this book to my parents. Sincerely, Their 1st born.

  6. When we disembark Explorer of the Seas in Seattle we will some time to explore the city before heading to the airport. Our flight is at 5:30 pm. Does anyone know what our options are for dealing with our luggage for that time? I not planning on dragging luggage around for 5 people through Seattle. Does the Pier have lockers or storage available? Does the airport have storage available? Thanks
  7. Does anyone know if there is a service in the Seattle area that makes deliveries to the cruise ships? We had done this before out of Port Canaveral and had gift baskets delivered to our room. Just wondering if there was a similar service in Seattle. Thanks
  8. This is pretty cool: http://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Port-of-Seattle-launches-free-airport-luggage-service
