  1. Looks like I am the first to post for this cruise. This will be our family's first time on Royal Caribbean. We only cruised NCL before. This new boat looks amazing!
  2. My husband and I just booked this. Will be his first time on Oasis and our first time in Curacao and Aruba. This will be our first cruise as Emerald!!!
  3. Hello Fellow Cruisers!!! My name is KJ and I am so excited to head out on this awesome adventure as a first time cruiser. I know there's still so much time to plan and prepare but I just wanted to introduce myself and looking forward to meeting some cool people along the way. Any recommendations for entertainment, food, and etc. in NY since I'm heading in a few days early to see some amazing sights? Thanks for any insight.
  4. 1st cruise with Royal this july. Cocoa Beach Club is 249 per person [family of 4]…sounds like 2 ships in port. Is there any value at 249 each? The 15 yr old is going to be bored to death from what i can see on the YouTube videos [i guess he can come & go] but it does look nice. 249 is steep [many videos advertise 69 or 89 per person] but with 10,000 people on the island i think some exclusivity might be worth the splurge. Any opinions / comments would be fantastic. Thank you!
  5. I was also on the allure of the seas and as stated above we did not go to perfect day at coco cay and instead floated around the coast of Florida. To say the least I wasn't happy but I understood the situation and I was sure Royal Caribbean would make things right. Well now I personally am furious with the cruise line because of how I have been being treated. I am a newbie, this was my 1st cruise not only with Royal Caribbean but ever and I didn't know about using a travel agent before the royal Caribbean rep's started calling me trying to get me to book right now and bombarding my email about booking before whatever. I was shopping around looking at theme parks and then the cruise lines, seeing all the stuff that was available to do,blah, blah, blah, you know but perfect day at coco cay on top of Royals (apparently made up) impeccable customer service record sold me so the next time Royal Caribbean's Representatives called I was over eager. So I booked directly through Royal because I didn't know any better... so now however I'm getting no help from royal Caribbean in regards to getting some kind of compensation for my family due to no fault of our own not being able to go to perfect day at coco cay, because we never made it there, which is the whole reason I booked through Royal Caribbean instead of Carnival cruise line. To top things off I purchased a beach bed at perfect day i was now not going to be able to use and I was assured by guests services onboard after waiting for 20 to 25 minutes in line that I wouldn't be charged for it and that it had been refunded back to me already so we disembarked the next day and my bill looks about right only then to wake up the next day to find I had been charged another $200+ on 4 separate new charges. If what they charged me was correct then I would have to have spend $650-$700 because I was charged $550+ but I had I $116 credit for the port fee being refunded to me even though I only spent $400+ onboard minus my $116 should be about $300ish. That is about what I had already charged when I disembarked from the ship and then they waited another day to charge me more, the Allure of the Sea was already 2 days into another sailing with a whole new batch of passengers. I have called twice now and the 1st time I was on hold for 25 to 30 minutes so I could explain to a guy my issue for 3 minutes and then to be told I would be put on a short hold, a"SHORT" hold, while they reached out to post cruise guests services or something so now45 minutes later after a nonstop loop of how great perfect day at coco cay is and how I should book a cruise to royal Caribbean's private island... over and over when I didn't even get to go and that's one of the 2 reasons I was calling and random breaks and small pauses as if some one was coming on the line but nope and these pauses were not in the same spots on the recording but instead were random and the recording didn't skip my phone didn't lose signal briefly. I know this because it would say " come experience Royal Caribbean's beautiful and secluded private island pe......rfect day at coco cay. Enjoy a day in the sand and sun then unwind at captain Jack's Cantina or at whatever beach club with the Caribbean's la....rgest salt water pool or take a ride on 1 of the 3 water slides and exp....eriance north America's tall...est waterslide." Get what I mean and yes that's how long and how many times I have had to listen to it. Now I finally get to speak to Sky for less than 5 minutes, Sky whom was less than empathetic, sympathetic or helpful and she told me they had to contact the ship to get the details of my I don't know what exactly but to verify that they took to much money out of my account, not ever saying anything about any kind of compensation for my family missing our "main" destination/port even thoughI kept bringing it up. Thus far I haven't even gotten so much as an I'm sorry from the Cruise line except from the captain who decided to not take our ship to coco cay duringmy sailing. So far the only kind of compensation of any kind I've seen was on the day we didn't go to coco cay and it was only that you could get 20% off spa packages due to the inconvenience, so you had to spend more money on something that I at least didn't want to spend more money on to get your compensation for Royal Caribbean not providing you with what I, we all who sailed paid for. So again Sky was almost no help, then the 2nd time I called on hold again but not as bad as the 1st time to finally speak with Brad whom again had no apologies for the issues they were responsible for and was also less than helpful as well. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that I couldn't they didn't have a supervisor on duty to assist me with anything and I wanted to speak to on I could call back later during peek hours when I should be sleeping because I work the graveyard shift to have to wait on hold for another hour to get to hopefully speak with a supervisor but not guaranteed. I have never been so completely disregarded and treated so unprofessionally in my life. Brad then told me Sky sent an email to the ship and they haven't gotten back to her or they're not getting back to her (really said both) so we dont know anything else right now so they're isn't anything that we can do for you at this current time that's when I was told nope cant talk to a Supervisor either. Even though this the 2nd phone call was on Thursday April 28 2022 which is 6 days later than the 1st phone call I made on Saturday April 22 2022 but just to be nice (even though they aren't) let's call it and say it's been 5 days between the 2 calls. So as of yet with the exception of Sky sending an email to the ship NO one at Royal Caribbean has done anything for 5 days in regard to me being over charged by $150-$200 and they're acting like, ehh whatever! However when they wanted my $4000.00+ for this cruise I didn't have to wait on hold, every one was super helpful and nice but now I'm owed something from them and putting aside any thought of compensation, not taking it into consideration at all regardless if I feel we are due something for having to miss the perfect day at coco cay. I was really and physically overcharged by Royal Caribbean by alot and that is my money I work hard for and to have it just be taken with no explanation or justification for any of the charges is at the very least upsetting. The added frustration I am having because I am not getting any help of any kind from anyone about anything and for Royal Caribbean to be doing nothing at all to help me alleviate this issue that they caused me to have to deal with is not only ridiculous its unprofessional. They say Loyal to Royal but why would I be? They haven't been anywhere near Loyal in anyway to me, in fact they have treated me worse than I've ever been treated by company I didn't work for in my life. I know that this was a long rant (call it what it is) but I need help with not only getting compensation from the cruise line for not going to coco cay but in getting my money refunded back to me they wrongfully took. I'm subscribe to and watch this/your YouTube channel all the time as of recent leading up to my cruise trying to get as much info and help in preparing to disembark as I could but this wasn't covered in the videos and I had already booked with Royal so I didn't know I could still use a travel agent after so please again can you or anyone help me out. This has left a bad taste in my mouth and I was loving my cruise experience until this and it's seriously making me rethink if I'll ever use Royal Caribbean again. I even waited until yesterday after again receiving no help to do my survey hoping that Royal would redeem themselves and I could say great things about them but nope! Again I need assistance please reach out and give any advice or help you can. Thanks for reading this post and letting me explain to someone what is going on be blessed and have a wonderful life. Yes I posted this else where again please help.
  6. This summer [July 22 - 29] I am taking my 1st ever cruise on Oasis of the Seas with my family! I am looking for information for first timers but don’t know where to look just yet. I just became an “insider” if that helps find the information I need for planning and learning about this cruise line. I’ve sailed with Disney 6 times so we are not new to cruising, just new to all the different offerings and options with Royal. I do have a travel agent but I really want to learn about this on my own and save the unusual questions for her. Can someone point me in the right direction? Also a big fan of the podcast, including the old days from WDW Today - thanks for everything over all the years Matt! Please help - thank you in advance!
  7. Does anyone know if you can use a ship rented wetsuit on the water slides at Perfect Day at Coco Cay?
  8. Getting excited for my first taste of Oasis class in just 7 days! This will be my third (& fourth!) cruise with Royal and cannot wait to see the mega beauty herself, having never seen anything bigger than Freedom class in person. This will also be my first semi-Side to Side... semi in that we have to spend a night in Miami between cruises. Still counts to me, twooo cruises, one vacation! Booking this came about because my boyfriend and I cruised in August 2019 on Freedom from San Juan and I got hooked on Royal and cruising in general. Right after that we went on Holland America’s Oosterdam in December 2019 and it further made clear our preference for Royal. I couldn't stand to wait in dry dock til Jan 2021 (at the time) so I snagged this 4-nighter on Oasis to hold us over. Like everyone else, this cruise has had several iterations and rebookings; it started as a May 2020 cruise, got swapped for a Nov 2020 cruise and finally Lift & Shifted to this Nov 3, 2021 itinerary. I added the Freedom 4-nighter right after as a way to see the renovated Coco Cay while also extending the value of my cross-country flight! I have been to Coco Cay once before (summer '98, baby!) so it should be fun to see how it's changed. Itinerary The mini Oasis sailing was originally slated as Labadee, got switched to Cozumel due to the unrest in Haiti and then switched a THIRD time to Nassau and Perfect Day at Coco Cay. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) that means we’re essentially going on the same cruise twice on different ships! Oasis Day 1 - Departs Miami Day 2 - Perfect Day at Coco Cay Day 3 - Cruising Day 4 - Nassau - Day 5 - Debark + turnaround night in Miami, Penguin Hotel South Beach - Freedom Day 6 - Departs Miami Day 7 - Nassau Day 8 - Cruising Day 9 - Perfect Day at Coco Cay A vacation with Perfect bookends! Hard to complain about that. Who’s Going - my fiancé (Adrian) and I (Daryl) Cabins Oasis - Ocean View Balcony 10554… our first non suite. Ahh! We will see how we fare with the smaller room and lack of walk in closet! Haha Freedom - Ocean View Balcony 1880. I am excited to be on deck 12 with easy Lime & Coconut access. I also put in a bid for a GS that was slightly above the “weak” segment so we’ll see! Pre-Purchases I got us the DBP + Voom Surf and Stream for both legs of this trip - $61/day on Oasis and $75/day on Freedom. $75 was the sale price, too! Since this may be my only OA class for awhile I also snagged us the 3-night Dining Package for Oasis so we can try Chops, 150CP and Giovanni’s. I am also thinking about adding Giovanni’s again on the Freedom leg because the menu appears to be different! I kept waiting and waiting for the UDP to appear for OA but it never did. We will also be using some leftover OBC at Playmakers and Portside for sure. Excursions Since our itinerary was changed so many times for Oasis I really don’t have anything scheduled for our first 2 PDCC and Nassau stops. In Nassau we are thinking we will do a walking tour I found on these boards and grab some conch fritters at Oh Andros, then have a chill beach day at Coco Cay. I am eyeing the Up, Up and Away balloon but I hear it has a low chance of going up this time of year. At $74 each it seems pricey for those few minutes of incredible views but I may just yolo book it. On the Freedom leg, we booked the Snorkel & Sail excursion in Nassau and have Thrill Waterpark tickets for PDCC. I got these for $46.99 and haven’t seen it that low since! (I had them on a Nav cruise for the outrageously low price of $29 but it was sadly cancelled) Mid Cruise Hotel We are once again being cruising renegades as the best non-stop flights to Miami leave San Diego the night before the cruise and get in at 5am on the morning of, eliminating the need for a pre-cruise hotel. I feel like the 12 hours of wiggle room are enough to get us through. We have never been to Miami (Aside from our forced overnight near the airport on the way home from San Juan last time) so I wanted to stay in South Beach to get a real feel for it. I chose Penguin Hotel for this stay! Ocean Drive, directly across from the beach and had a “penthouse” (read: third floor) suite with a luxurious 1,000 sq ft “terrace” (read: roof of the hotel). I am anticipating a Bird Cage Art Deco vibe! One does want a hint of color. Hmm, what else? I bought the 6 pack of Binax AG Card tests, so that’s our Covid Testing Plan between cruises although Royal said they would take care of it. I like to always be prepared juuust in case! I hope to up my game on the live-ness of this blog, and take more ship pictures this time as I marvel at the beauty of Lady O. I am excited to see the AMP Freedom received since we last sailed her, too. Only 7 regular sunsets before the ultimate: SHIP SUNSETS are back in my life!
  9. CoCo Beach Club: Floating Cabanas This June we (my group) are looking forward to an Oasis OTS cruise that takes a stop at CoCo Cay!!! Everyone is looking forward to it, but I was wondering what your guys' opinions on the floating cabanas were. We would split the price between everyone, and we would probably have some people relaxing there most of the time we are at the Cay. Just wanting your experiences, opinions, and recommendations! Thanks! P.S. If they're worth it, Can you reserve them? [(We have the royal Genie)(We would be fine with having other party members pay us back.)] If so, which are best, closer to land or further out? (I thought the one on the far right looked best in my opinion.) Lastly, do they rock a lot, my dad gets seasick?.
  10. We are booked on our first cruise leaving New Orleans on Majesty of the Seas August 29th. I hadn't bought any excursions yet and was getting ready to when this whole COVID thing started. (I wanted all the options to be available before I picked). Our cruise has not been cancelled yet and we are hoping it will stay that way. I just made the final payment and was thinking about booking some excursions. However, I haven't seen any cruise planner sales that I recall in months. Should I wait for a sale? Should I wait period until cruises start up again? Please help. I'm new and am worried. Things are very tight but it is our 5th anniversary and I want it to be as special as I can make it.
  11. @bossdog421 and any additional friends that can help! We were able to split the cost of a CoCo Beach Club cabana in June 2020 for our Harmony sailing. My research shows a restaurant that requires reservations BUT the cabana has a table to dine at it seems. The cabana includes wait service for food and drinks, should I surmise the menu is the same as the restaurant? Is it a "picky food" menu? Thinking about the teenager wrangle, just wondering are the options the same, really was not feeling a "sit down" meal in the restaurant when we have the cabana, BUT lobster & steak VS burgers, no contest! Thanks for the info :)
  12. This is our first ever back to back cruise, our first as diamond, our first cruise on Mariner and out first visit to the newly renovated Coco Cay. We chose this cruise for the ship and the chance to visit Coco Cay since it seems EVERYONE has already had the opportunity. We managed to get the same aft corner balcony for both legs of the cruise so that is a definite bonus. I will try to keep this up as we cruise but I am also trying to focus on relaxation. I will begin at Day 0 in my next post.
  13. Fresh of the Empress with a night in a hotel in between I'm ready and pumped for my next cruise. Did I mention... IT'S CRUISE DAY! I thought about starting this thread before my Empress cruise even left the dock (like some others around here do) but that just wouldn't be right. This five night Majesty of Seas cruise was necessary. I needed something to justify the airfare to Empress so this side-to-side was the perfect solution. Itinerary Ft. Lauderdale Nassau Perfect Day at CocoCay Sea Day Key West Ft. Lauderdale I love Empress but this way I'm upgrading to a much larger ship! Plus, I gotta get back to CocoCay. :) I originally booked a number of Empress and Majesty sailings when the Cuba cancellations were forced upon the industry. I feared Royal might move these ships out of the fleet. My plan was to take lots of pictures and document this legacy class of ship that were the foundation of so much that became even much more on later ships. It was because of the success of ships like this that Royal has become what it is today. Success breeds success. As it turns out they aren't moving these ships out to pasture just yet plus I get to sail on some of the best (small) ships in the fleet! That's a win-win. To be fair I split my time between Empress (3 bookings) and Majesty (3 bookings). I already had some fall bookings that were bucket list type cruises so I had push some my Majesty cruises into October but that's okay, she'll be here waiting for me. When you stay in a hotel and pay for things like meals and drinks you quickly appreciate the value that cruising represents. Spoiler alert - the view out my hotel window never changed and I woke up right where I was the day before. #boring Cabin this time is an Ocean View on deck 4.
  14. We are now just about one week out from the cruise, so it is about time to get this party started. This will be my first attempt at a live blog so we shall see how this goes. I think we can title this blog Navigating around the hurricanes. 4 night Navigator Cruise 9/23-9/27 Who’s Going? For this trip, it will be the whole family. I’m Greg, the primary planner, my wife Heather who is the “bad influence” on the planner, and our daughter Lydia (9) and son Johnny (6). This whole trip is a surprise to the kids. They have no idea that we are going.
  15. So it looks like our 4 night Mariner cruise in April 2020 is being changed from one stop in Perfect Day to two stops (With Nassau in between). Is this common on the shorter cruises to remove the At Sea day? Seems like a lot of Perfect Day over 3 days...
  16. We're over 21 months out from our 4/24/21 Symphony cruise , but the cabanas at South Beach appear in the Cruise Planner already at $399.00... Is this a good price and should we strongly consider booking at this price in the near future? I see from other threads that the price of many of the Perfect Day cabanas and bungalows in other areas fluctuate radically (like $400 - $1,200+)! Our only experience was recently at Nellie's beach where the over-the-water cabanas normally run around $579 unless there is a CP sale (took advantage of one at $521 ?). I also understand, that unlike our Nellie's Beach cabana, they are not first come, first assigned (we got to pick our own since we arrived first). I read here that they are generally assigned randomly prior to arriving to the island, but you can go to the shore excursion desk early on and select any available cabana once onboard (Perfect Day is our last day of the cruise). I see from the map that this would be a good location if we want to relax on the beach and still have close access to the Oasis Lagoon pool. We understand these are on the beach (not over the water like Labadee). Are these cabanas like the one we had at Nellie's Beach with 3 walls or bungalows with just the one back wall? Just curious since the description uses cabana and bungalow interchangeably. What do you think? Any negatives to the South Beach area (I see they just closed it to finish construction)? Thanks in advance! This is how it appears in the CP for us:
  17. 1st off. this is my 1st post. I have been reading these boards for 9 months as a guide to booking an preparing for our cruise on Harmony next week (june 2, 2019). My question is this. Can I bring a portable blue tooth speaker to our rented beach bungalow? We frequently do beach trips, and a day at the beach is not complete without propper music. Has anyone done this before? is it frowned upon? Thanks for any insight you can provide.
