  1. Shamelessly promoting my favourite class of ship again. I came across this video tonight and really wanted to share it. @Matt has some great blog posts comparing the 4 ships but this video was so well put together and gives a great comprehensive visual. Whether you are a first timer or you've sailed all 4, it's still worth a look, especially if you are deciding between them as I find many people are. Also, there are some really good shots of the new features on Symphony, including food shots from Playmakers and Hooked. It's 20min long and there is an ad in the middle but have a look. Can't wait for my next Oasis class sailing!
  2. Going to keep this post sweet and simple. As you might be able to guess from the topic title I'm once again heading off on another voyage onboard Oasis. To get an idea of what to expect from me take a look back at my previous Oasis LIVEish over Halloween. Also, keep an eye on Twitter/Periscope for any material not posted here. 3. As well as Caribbean, also pricing up Japan cruises with Royal Caribbean. There’s two cruises that we looked up, both going to 3 ports. One is on the Quantum from Shanghai, and the other is on the Ovation from Tianjin. Which ship is better? Is there a difference? Does one have something the other one doesn’t? Thanks in advance.
  4. Thinking about doing an Eastern Caribbean cruise, would be flying from Manchester, England. The price of the whole cruise comes out at £3939 for Allure and £4029 for Oasis, so not worried about the price. Are there any differences in service/food quality or any noticeable things that differ these ships from one another?
  5. I’m sure this has most likely been asked before so I apologise in advance. I have purchased the ultimate dining package for my Oasis cruise later this month and wanted to ask about Izumi Hibachi. I’m sure I read somewhere that it wasn’t covered by the package but I wanted to know if the $35 credit would be applied against the cover charge or is it simply a case of the full charge being applied to my seapass account? many thanks in advance!
  6. According to the Cruise Planner Shore Excursions section, this is the current sailing update: Day 1: Port Canaveral Day 2: Cruising Day 3: Cozumel, Mexico Day 4: Cruising Day 5: Falmouth, Jamaica Day 6: Labadee, Haiti Day 7: Cruising Day 8: Port Canaveral However, they are needing time to update the excursions because if you try and click on the new destinations, it is still showing up with San Juan in the actual excursions as of 12:25pm.
  7. So I have searched and searched and searched and can't find the layout for my room, 10652, on Oasis of the Seas. I know that I could google the ship name and room number, but I keep getting stock photos. I also know there are a few threads that explain how to determine if your bed is next to the balcony or next to the closet but I get a different answer for each one when I'm "counting" on my own. So any help would be greatly appreciated that lets me know whereabouts my bed will be.
  8. Does anyone know what the "Headliner Show" is on Oasis? I've already gotten tickets for it but I was curious if anyone could let me know. Thanks!
  9. Hi - We are new to RC and have really appreciated all the detailed information this blog provides! We plan to cruise the Oasis of the Seas in March with two, 16 year old girls. I'm looking for a teen version of the Compass to get a feel for their activities. Thank you!
  10. Intro/Pre-Embarkation Like so many others we originally had planned to set sail on Oasis on September 10, 2017 for a 7 night Eastern Caribbean Itinerary. Well, that is until Irma (Hurricane Irma) crashed our party. After several days of late night tweeting with Royal Caribbean's Meteorologist, James Von Fleet we got final word that our cruise would begin on September 13 and consist of a 4 night sailing to Cozumel. This wasn't our dream cruise but we were happy and grateful none the less that it didn't get cancelled. We opted to sail and receive 50% of our cruise fare in onboard credit and the other 50% for a future cruise credit. This made it a deal hard for us to resist, as it is basically a free cruise. If anyone wants to hear about our pre cruise adventure/trip/Orlando shore excursion/storm chasing, is be happy to share that in a future post. I travel with my husband, Randall and my almost 3 year old, Sarah. Much of my perspective and observations have to do with what cruising looks like with a toddler and Texan who loves the casino and avoids the Windjammer like the plague. We chose this sailing, ship, and date for a few reasons...let me explain: 1. We originally had booked Allure of the Seas for the week of Labor Day. We chose that week because of the free day off (I work so my time off is limited). We also knew we wanted to try an Oasis Class ship since we had loved our Liberty of the Seas Western Caribbean cruise last year. The girl at the Next Cruise office said Allure was her favorite ship so we rolled with it. 2. Oasis became an option only when I saw a group rate with a kids sail free promo on one of the Facebook pages I follow. So after inquiring, the price was significantly lower for Oasis a week later. Plus at the time I thought I'd be going to Puerto Rico and that gave me the chance to see my family. 3. We knew we wanted to go to Labadee And both the Allure and Oasis had Labadee as ports of call (we'll try again next year, Labadee) 4. My husband really wanted an ocien view balcony and we got a great cabin mid ship. 5. The Dreamworks Experience, my daughter loves this so it's a priority for us when booking. In the end I think we made the right choice both for switching to Oasis as our first Oasis Class ship (won't be the last ?) and for choosing to do the 4 night altered cruise. Thanks for reading, tomorrow I'll take y'all on the journey that was Embarkation Day and the run down of the stuff we did on day 2 ? - Cristina Myers
  11. Started a group page for our cruise on the Oasis departing on 11/12/17. Hoping to meet people from all around the world, that will be on this cruise! Please join the page. Page is Royal Caribbean Oasis of The Seas - 11/12/17 - 11/19/17
  12. I got this info via my Ship Mate app... The Park N Cruise seemingly made it through Irma just fine, but just at the end of the weather, a tornado hit the facility, causing severe damage to many of the vehicles there, some of which are probably a total loss, and causing a complete shutdown of services.. From their post: Regardless of the fact that our business and facility is a complete loss, our families remained safe throughout the storm...And for that we are thankful beyond measure. I feel awful for this company, and truly hope they can rebuild and get their operation going again. eta: Just found their full message on FB:
  13. I just saw that the Oasis will be the perfect viewing of the Total Eclipse on August 20th! Sweet...to bad it wasn't happening during the 3rd week of July so that I could enjoy that!
  14. Does anyone know if any of the Trolls characters are on board Oasis as part of the Dreamworks Experience?
  15. We will be on Oasis of the Seas on September 10th with an almost 3 -year old. It's not our first time cruising with her (we did Liberty of the Seas last year) and she did great. This year though she's older, potty trained, and we will be driving from San Antonio to Orlando before the cruise. Any tips, tricks, and advice on how to keep her entertained, comfortable, etc would be greatly appreciated. Wish me luck...any advice on how to handle my husband who hates being stuck in a car is also appreciated! LOL Any Oasis class specific tips are also greatly appreciated!
  16. I have booked Oasis of the Seas in April of 2018 for my wife and I, so pretty far out still. When I booked, only My Time Dining was an option, as the Traditional Dining option was greyed out. There was a box underneath these two options where I could check "My dining preference is unavailable" and if I used the dropdown menu on that one, it only allowed me to select an 8:30 pm dining time. So am I too far out to book a traditional dining time, or do you think they are already sold out? I usually prefer the first seating time, which on my previous cruises was generally around 5:30/6:00 pm. Also, would I be better off to go with My Time Dining so that I can see all the shows, including in the AquaTheatre? I have not been on Oasis class before. but my wife and I usually book the earlier mealtime so that we have the same waiters each time, allowing us to get to know them and they can get to know us, but I also want to make sure I don't miss out on shows. Thoughts? Thanks in advance for all of your help!
  17. Head's up, everyone who is interested in booking one of the 6 newly added Grand Suites in the Aqua Theater area of the Oasis and Allure. These are the 6 new Grand Suites that were added to both of these ships during their most recent drydocks (this is where the "hidden balconies" were before renovation). The stateroom numbers are 11330, 11730, 12330, 12730, 14330 and 14730. These very LARGE Grand Suites are going to be redesignated as Aqua Theater Suites. The Allure will change these rooms from GS to AS June 5, 2016. The Oasis will make the change May 7, 2016. The 4 biggest ones (11330, 11730, 12330 and 12730) are going to be category A3 which require a minimum of 4 persons to book. The smaller ones (14330 and 41730) will be a new designation A4 and will be available to general inventory, which means that you can book with just 2 people. I found this out ONLY because I was planning on booking one of these Grand Suites for my Christmas 2016 cruise only to find that they will be designated as Aqua Suites by then. The Club Royale agent and I backtracked and determined that the change-over from GS to A3/A4 will occur in May and June of next year. So....if you want to take advantage of booking any of these 6 rooms while they are still Grand Suites, I suggest you do so very soon. Word WILL get out that their availability as GS is limited and they will all be gone - poof ! Needless to say, the price on these rooms skyrockets once they go from being GS to A3/A4. The room that will cost just over $5K on Feb. 21 will be upwards of $15K once it is redesignated. Of course, they are doing NOTHING to enhance these rooms at all...they are just taking advantage of the fact that they are bigger than all of the other GS on the boat and know that they can charge 3 times what they are currently getting for them. Typical, right ? Of course, they aren't telling ANYone about this...even the RC sales agents didn't know about it. We all found out together. So slimy.
  18. I have been reading on CC where so many have been charged a mini bar fee post cruise when they mini bar stayed empty. Any experience of this happening on the Oasis? I will have them empty the contents (if there is any) when we get in there but I'm not sure if that matters.
  19. So I read someone's comment that perhaps Oasis 4 will be going to China. You really think so ? I'm betting on Europe. What do you think ?
  20. Does anyone know if there is a spreadsheet view on Cruise Planner of all the Oasis Entertainment? I saw one for an Allure cruise years ago. I want to see everything so I can more easily make my selections. The display options that I see Cruise Planner don't really work for me. I'm sure all of the planning nerds can appreciate my predicament ;) I may have to create my own Excel document. Thanks! Hunt
  21. It should be a fun and exciting day at Port Canaveral on Sunday 11/13. the Port Authority is holding a special celebration at Jetty Park from 3pm -6pm. I'll be there. I hope to see some of you crazy blog people there too! :)
  22. Just back from Oasis. I was in a Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony Class D7, #8154. I have taken some photos of the electrical outlets available in this room for your reference. Not all staterooms will have the same but it is a good starting point. This is on top of the vanity. Below the vanity, both 110 and 220 volts A hidden gem beneath the bed by the phone. Hope this helps for everyone. Bob
  23. Just wondering- we have My time dining reservations every night 7:30-9:30. Will I be able to make a reservation for a 9:30 show in My Cruise Planner? Anyone had experience with this? I am worried the system wouldn't allow this since they say to show up 15-30 minutes before a show starts (and we never take 2 hours for dinner).
  24. Has anyone stayed in the Oasis or Allure Family Inside Staterooms. I believe there's only a handful of them and they're on deck 11. I just booked one for my family for 2017 (room 11147) as the Kid's Sail Free + 30% off made it roughly $1,500 cheaper than it normally is. I'm just wondering if this type of room has bunk beds with a wall in between the main room and the bunk beds, or if it's just one giant room with pullman beds that come down. If it is one giant room, how have you been able to make it so that one kid can get some sleep without being woken up by everyone else? I ask because I've got three daughters, all under the age of 5, and I'm wondering how the best way is to get them to sleep, take naps, etc, while my wife and our oldest can hang out in the room and watch tv, etc, without waking everyone up? I've thought about bringing some shower curtains and hanging them up off of those ceilings (I know it sounds tacky, but it's the only thing I can think of and the ceilings seem conducive to being able to hand something from them) and creating a barrier. On our last cruise, with Disney, we had an Oceanview Family Stateroom and it had a curtain separating the bed from the rest of the room, which worked really well for sound and especially for light. Any pictures of the room would be greatly appreciated, as well as explanation of how the room is set up, and any thoughts and suggestions on how to best make it work would be so helpful. Thanks in advance!
