  1. It seems that the engine parts for the Alaska sailings in August and September on Quantum, will not be done on time. I just received an email From Royal that our itinerary for the Sept 12th Sailing from Seattle has been changed to new ports and times "Dear Guest, Due to speed limitations caused by a technical issue with one of the ship’s engines, we’ve replaced our visit to Skagway, Alaska and Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier. Instead, we’ll visit Ketchikan, spend more time in Juneau, and we’ll visit Sitka a day later. Your safety, and that of our crew, is always our top priority. Our ship has four engines, but one requires some repair and there’s a delay in receiving the parts needed. Additionally, another engine is scheduled for routine maintenance soon, which means we’ll have to reduce our overall speed. Our ships can safely sail in these kinds of situations at reduced speeds, and while we’re working to expedite the repair process, the global supply chain issues that we’re all experiencing are complicating this situation. The decision to modify our itinerary wasn’t taken lightly. We’ve done everything possible to minimize the impact to your time with us, and we’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience." Mon Seattle, Washington 4:00 PM Tue Cruising Wed Ketchikan, Alaska 7:00 AM 4:00 PM Thu Sitka, Alaska 8:00 AM 4:00 PM Fri Juneau, Alaska 7:30 AM 3:00 PM Sat Cruising Sun Victoria, British Columbia 5:00 PM 10:00 PM Mon Seattle, Washington 7:00 AM We previously had the Glacier Inside passage and Skagway in our itinerary. At least they are providing us with an onboard credit: $75 USD for Interior and Ocean View staterooms $100 USD for Balcony staterooms $200 USD for Suites" Hopefully this information helps anyone on this particular cruising and others in September. Although frustrating we have booked a glacier viewing excursion that hopefully will make up for the loss of the inside passage.
  2. Just found this while searching for an example full wine list at Vintages. It's a good use of technology, not sure how long ago they released this video as there's no date I could find on the page, also not sure if / when this is being rolled out to the rest of the fleet. Should be an easy thing to apply fleet-wide as it doesn't require anything more than getting the iPads and iPod Touches and installing the apps / integrating to the ship's SeaPass card system. https://www.royalcaribbeanpresscenter.com/video/182/savvy-sommelier-digital-menus-at-vintages/ You can now order wines via iPad, and the order is transmitted to iPod Touch units carried by the wine tenders. It will recommend wines based on your existing tastes, and everything is displayed in a much wider selection of languages than RCI could manage with printed menus. And if you order in, say, German, that order shows up translated to the English equivalent on the wine tender's iPod Touch (or, I'd assume, whatever language that person set as their preference). Apologies if this was actually posted a while back. Searched this forum before posting, didn't find anything.
  3. Hello All! First time RC Cruiser, I had a question regarding 2017 Theme nights or Prohibition Party on the Oasis of the Seas? Embarking 4/2/17 i've seen several posts about it from last year but I was wondering if they are happening this year as well? I looked through the entertainment and dining events/reservations and haven't seen anything about them. I would love to go to the Prohibition Party with my family in costume but I'd hate to spend the money and the event not occur. Would it be weird to buy the costumes and wear them to the casino if the party isn't happening? Thanks in advance!
  4. I was cruising through Cruise Industry News today and I found this little snippet concerning Pullmantur:
  5. Not sure if anyone has seen this article http://blog.cruisecritic.co.uk/index.php/2013/11/08/cruise-critic-readers-respond-venice-bans-cruise-ships/blog The days of huge cruise ships sailing up the central Giudecca Canal into St. Mark’s Basin in Venice are numbered. From January 2014 the number of vessels weighing more than 40,000 tons authorised to cross the Giudecca canal — in front of St Mark’s Square, in the heart of the city – will be cut by up to 20% from 2012 levels. And in November 2014, ships weighing over 96,000 tons will be banned from the route completely. More info in the link above. This is one of the things on my bucket list so i better move quickly as it may not stop at the ships weighing the above and could possibly see them stopping all Cruise ships sailing up the Giudecca Canal in the next few years. I understand why they are doing this but it will be a shame to loose such a magnificent sail in view :( . Has anyone sailed into Venice and what are your thoughts on the possibility of this happening.
