  1. This is my first time traveling with Royal Caribbean and I look forward to having a wonderful time wherever we end up. I have watched so many YouTube videos, that I feel as if I already understand every detail about the ship, LOL. I have my concerns about our Port location in Haiti, but I am sure this will be resolved with thoughts of our safety and the crews safety in mind. If there are changes, I hope that we will have more than three days to plan our excursions for another Port location.
  2. Wife and I are getting away from the kids to celebrate 15 years. I love my kids, but can't wait to cruise kid-free again.
  3. This will be our 3rd time on MOTS, but our first time in Jamaica or Labadee. 20 Days to go!!!!
  4. Guess I've been out of the loop, but heard a news story about how there is still some unrest in Haiti and wondered if Royal was still stopping there. Has anyone with cruises in the near futre (or recent past) had any changes? The state department has hadit as a Leve4: Do not travel. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/International-Travel-Country-Information-Pages/Haiti.html
  5. I’ve seen online and in this thread of people getting the Barefoot Beach cabanas for the following prices; Over the water cabana: $495 Hilltop cabana: $395 Beach front cabana: $395 Standard beach cabana: $295 However when I go to my planner they are in the thousands, my family that lives in another state going on the same ship different sail date shows different prices as well….. Anyone else heard or seen this ?? Also is barefoot beach still only available for suite guest? As anyone can purchase it from the planner
  6. Hopefully I'm being a bit dim here but do I (or should I) have booked a sun bed for Labadee? I've left things very late and wondered if I can just rock up and use any sun beds that are free? It's my first time cruise and I have to admit with all the testing to get on board, testing to get to Bermuda (extra $40 per person), getting to the port and everything else post covid - I think it may be my first and last one! Thanks All - Dan
  7. Good morning, We're 18 days out from our cruise leaving from Canaveral, FL going to Labadee and CocoCay. COVID was making it's way through our kids school this past final week of school. Unsurprisingly, one of my sons just tested positive this morning with an anti-gen but the remaining four of us in the house tested negative on anti-gen. We're all going to get a PCR today so we can go the Certificate of Recovery route for my son and anyone else who happens to show up yes on the PCR. A failsafe in the event of a positive anti-gen two days prior to the cruise. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/if-recovered-from-covid-19-need-to-be-vaccinated-or-take-a-test-to-sail I have read the Certificate of Recovery instructions on Royals FAQ and understand the process. My question is, I see that Haiti is on the list for "The following ports are currently not accepting a Certificate of Recovery for debarkation". Does this mean that if we have to use the Certificate of Recovery route, he wouldn't be able to get off at Labadee? Or is it possibly referencing another Haiti port? Does anyone have experience with this and Labadee? Thank you
  8. Will be going to Labadee for the first time in a few weeks on Mariner. Have been looking for a good review of the island and experience, and didn't find anything on Labadee in @MattYouTube vlogs (maybe I am just missing it). From what I did locate from other content creators, I believe Labadee is going to be a big disappointment in comparison to Perfect Day. Maybe I will start calling it Blah-badee afterwards? Does anyone have thoughts/reviews/suggestions to share about the Labadee experience? @Matt please consider doing a full-island tour and review video on Labadee in the future if you haven't already done one (sorry if I missed it). Thanks everyone!
  9. Hi all, I am a first timer (cruiser and on the blog); and, I would greatly appreciate some input. We have booked a Royal Cruise embarking on 05/23 on Mariner. I pre-booked the Coco Beach Club for the stop at Perfect Day, which I am very excited about. I wrestled with doing that or booking one of the beach beds there, both seemed to meet our needs. It is starting to sound like Labadee is beginning to get back to normal, with ships beginning to stop there again. My question is, does Labadee have the ability to rent beach beds like Perfect Day? In my cruise planner, I am able to book a beach bed, canopy, or the beach club right now for our trip in May for Perfect Day, but there is no availability to book anything like that for Labadee. So, I just wasn't sure if that would even be an option. Should I expect it to become available at some point in the cruise planner? Thanks in advance!
  10. Hello Everyone, I am excited to be on the Explorer of the Seas next month and I am in the process of finalizing excursions for Labadee. Did anyone participate in the Speedboat and Snorkeling excursion and is willing to provide some feedback on this experience? Is the Speedboat going to the same reef as the Catamaran Snorkel experience. Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences, Kiki :).
  11. Hello first time cruiser here so forgive me if this is common knowledge. My family and I (6 adults and a 9 year old and 1 year old) are traveling on the Adventure of the Seas in August 2020 and our itinerary includes a stop at Labadee. I was looking into a bungalow rental for our day there, as a shaded home base for the kids and the older adults in our group. However the bungalows are showing sold out on the cruise planner. Are all the bungalows made available on the cruise planner or do they save some for on board reservation? Any suggestions on what I can do to try to get one or if the cabana is worth the extra money? Thanks a bunch in advance!
  12. Hello All! In reading about the cabanas at Barefoot Beach, I see that they also have a "dedicated cabana attendant". First, are these RC employees? Also, just how often do you see them and how do you notify them that you need something? Finally, what is the turn around time on the request once it's made? I'm referring to this article: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/03/06/barefoot-beach-cabanas-royal-caribbeans-labadee.
  13. Hey folks!! Looking on the Cruise Planner for my Mariner cruise in 16 DAYS!!! I have noticed that you cannot reserve in advance the Dragon Coaster. Is it down for repair?? They have the zipline all over the page but NO Dragon Coaster. TIA MIKE
  14. I am SO excited for my family's very first cruise ever this July (7-14) on the Allure. My mother- and father-in-law (avid RC cruisers) are treating my family of three (me, husband, and son who will be 3 weeks shy of 6) and my brother-in-law's family (husband, wife, 13 and 15 year old boys) to the cruise and are helping us with transportation there. We will be responsible for all extras (excursions, premium dining, tips, etc.). I am having difficulty navigating the shore options available to us and haven't been able to find any sites that review the options. Ideally, I would like to take our son with us when in port because this will be his first international experience. We don't *really* love the beach and are definitely foodie-friendly (but not alcohol; we just don't drink it) and can definitely do walking tours but maybe not hikes. What are your thoughts on the available options? Of course, I will take any additional tips or tricks for making our first cruise a successful one! I don't expect us to do any premium dining, but I would be interested to hear in what extras are really worth it. We also enjoy dancing, music, comedy, art, watching sports, and of course, travel.
  15. T-1 Day Almost a year ago, my family booked this cruise. Now we’re less than a day away from boarding the beautiful Navigator of the Seas to embark on our 9 night journey to the Southern Caribbean. I guess it’s best to start this live trip report by telling everyone a little bit about myself. I’m 17 from Atlanta, Georgia. I know I’m probably quite a bit younger than most of the users on Royal Caribbean Blog, but what can I say - it’s never to early to become obsessed with cruising. Going on this cruise with me are my mom, dad, elderly grandmother, and her elderly friend. We booked two separate balcony rooms, so my grandmother and her friend will stay in one room and I’ll stay in the other room with my mom and dad. My dad and I both booked the classic soda package and the voom surf voyage package so we can communicate with each other while on the ship. After diligently checking the cruise planner every 3 or so days, I was able to get the voom package for $19.18 a day, which was the cheapest I’ve seen it for the past 6 months. We chose this cruise strictly for the itinerary. The ABC islands have been on our list for quite some time, and when they offered them at the next cruise desk on our last cruise, we just couldn’t pass it up. The intertary is as follows: Day 1: At sea Day 2: Labadee, Haiti Day 3: At sea Day:4 At sea Day 5: Oranjestad, Aruba Day 6: Willemstad, Curaçao Day 7: Kralendijk, Bonaire Day 8: At Sea Day 9: At Sea In Labadee we’re planning to just have a beach day, in Aruba we’re doing a Trikes tour, we’re going to just play it by ear in Curaçao, and in Bonaire we rented a few golf carts. We got into Miami yesterday night with my dad driving my grandmother and her friend down and my mom and I flying since she had to stay later to work and I had to stay later for finals. Today in Miami we did a little sight seeing at Little Havana, South Beach, and Bayside. After lunch we ran a few last minute errands to pick up the things we realized we forgot to pack, and all got pedicures (including my dad). He was not a fan of the flip flops lol. At least they had blue. Now all that’s left is our last dinner of 2018 on land and then it’s cruise time tomorrow!!
  16. I booked my first cruise with my 4 closest guy friends. I'm in the Army and stationed overseas. I am on Holiday Block Leave and this cruise is the highlight of my vacation. I'm super excited about my first cruise experience and I wanted to see/connect with others who are on this sailing. Feel free to message and reply if you are!
  17. Just wondering if anyone purchased this (below). If so, would you recommend it? Which beach is it on? I read there are plenty of free loungers available so I am unsure of the need to purchase these Thank you in advance Each Lounger For Two LABADEE, HAITI Kick off your shoes and relax in style while the ocean breeze welcomes you. 18. Hi, We are doing a family cruise for Thanksgiving this year. First time cruise for everyone involved. It will be me and my 3 siblings, two brother in laws, my parents and 4 nieces (age 6, 4, and 1). Any tips people have would be great but really I am wondering about non-Royal Caribbean shore excursions. Are they hard to make and does anyone have a suggestion for what we should do? We stop in Philipsburg, St. Marteen, San Juan, PR and Labadee, Haiti. Not everything has to be kid centered so I'm looking for any and all possibilities. Thanks!
  19. Anyone know how 'strict' they are about the 375 weight limit on the Wave Jet tour? I have a wife and 3 boys, and the two boys are not small weight wise, neither are my wife and I. Not giant 'fat' people (pardon the term, not meant to insult anyone), but Im 6'1" 230, my 17 and 15 year old boys are 6'2" 200 and 6'3" 240 (football players), so there's no combination that i could fit the 15 year old on-board with. Any thoughts, would he have to ride with someone else? Thanks!
  20. My wife and I will be first-timers at Labadee in 3 weeks-- can't wait! I was extra tickled when she said she would ride the Dragon's Breath, too. Sounds like you have to be in shorts, or at least non-swimsuit attire, and in close-toed footwear to ride the zip line. Our zip line starts at 11:30 a.m., so this probably will entail changing in and out of swimsuits and maybe attempting to re-find whatever nice beach chair/spot we found earlier in the morning, if we can. Although not identified specifically as such on the Labadee map, I would guess that decent changing rooms are available. http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Private_Destinations/14039222_Labadee_Map.pdf And from the podcast, I figure we would need to plan to store our stuff in a locker while on the 60-90 min zip line adventure as we would not have anyone else in our party hanging out at one of the beaches and keeping tabs on our stuff. I recall ~$8 a pop mentioned for a locker. Sound realistic? Thanks!
  21. Hi, I found Nellies beach cabana available on cruise planner, (it was gone little while so I thought all sold out). I am thinking to reserve if still there. I have booked zip line and dragon coaster also. How far from those from Neillie beach cabana. ?? I don’t like to long walk back. Thank you for your help!!
  22. If I were to rent a cabana on Barefoot beach on Labadee as a suite guests are we allowed to invite non suite guests to join us? And if so, do they actually have to be "in" the cabana or will they be able to utilize the beach chairs and umbrella on the beach?
