Hey fellow cruisers! Good news and Bad news, in the good column, 9 days from now I will be getting ready to board for our upcoming Anthem Cruise! Very excited! On the Bad side, my lovely wife had a meeting with her doc, her Gal Bladder needs to be removed, not critical, so it's not until Feb 2018, BUT he immediately instituted even more restrictions on her diet... Being only 9 days out, I had to throw a "Hail Mary" email to RCCL to see if there is much we can do. We had added "Low Fat Diet required" To her profile, but only a few weeks ago (Not the 45 days recommended, as we didn't know until recently) NOW her Doc has advised that she can have NO FRIED FOODS, NO RED MEAT, and NO DAIRY. We tend to be "rule followers" especially when it comes to our health, as we have both had health issues in the past. But this is EXTREMELY difficult! We are cruising with family, and already have prepaid for 3 specialty restaurant dinners (the BOGO package and one included with our package from our agent) and to be honest, the specialty restaurants have very little she can eat if she follows the restrictions. AND she has a allergy to Soy, so no Japanese.. After a little crisis management we tracked down a few menus online and tried to find stuff she could easily eat. I think Windjammer would be easiest, but she does enjoy the sit down meals and the wait staff! She had already dedicated herself to lower fat options, but was looking forward to a lean steak as a treat... and now no red meat until FEBUARY! I am showing solidarity and not eating *much* that is off her diet, If I need a burger it will be on my own, but this makes the cruise really difficult for her. She doesn't want to deprive me of my enjoyment, but I will feel HORRIBLE sitting across from her in the steakhouse, eating a wonderful steak dinner, and dessert, while she eats a salad with no cheese, dressing on the side, a shrimp cocktail, and chicken breast with steamed asparagus. We can't even just make it a "Booze Cruise" since she has to keep her alcohol intake down as well I am hoping my email to RCCL lets them get enough notice to have a couple of items for her. I don't *EXPECT* it, since we are way late to the party notice-wise. Just keeping my fingers crossed for the time being.

Referring specifically to non-Hibachi variety of Izumi: I noticed Vision of the Seas has an Izumi, as does Anthem. I had the spicy miso ramen on Anthem and it was divine. I'll be on Vision in Feb and Apr 2018, in theory should that Izumi also offer it? I downloaded the menu from RC's website but didn't see it on there, but I also didn't see an indication that it was Vision-specific. The menu I downloaded for Anthem's Izumi said it had hot rock stuff, but when I went there they didn't have them... so, not sure how accurate the download menus are... Is each ship's Izumi unique, or do all Izumi's offer the same food options?

I thought you all might find this interesting, and I'd love your thoughts on the following. I sent this in to Royal per my survey after my cruise on Anthem to Bermuda: a.) Although not a significant demographic, I would have preferred to see more activities geared toward solo cruisers. Since Anthem of the Seas has dedicated studio balcony rooms, there should be more than just a single lunch at the Bionic Bar to encourage solo cruisers to meet and mingle. b.) Cell phone reception at Cape Liberty was minimal to non-existant, so while waiting more than an hour to get on the ship, it would have been nice to have complimentary wireless internet available while in the terminal. c.) Except for dining in the Windjammer, whenever I had a waiter waiting on me, they would always interrogate me as to why I had food left on my plate when I was finished with my meal. I'd had stomach surgery, so I no longer have the option to eat the same amount as any normal person. I decided to this for the betterment of my life (I've lost over 115 lbs so far), so I chose to be happier and healthier rather than be able to stuff myself. Crew should be more sensitive to that, and if a passenger says they are finished do not ask again. It made for some very uncomfortable situations, especially with a server named Jerick in Silk, when he told me I could eat anything I wanted because "He has a big kitchen." - I've been a big person my entire life (weighing almost 400 lbs at my worst, I'm down to 231 now and am feeling so much better as a result.) - I've been able to experience things I never thought I could do (like rock climb, which I did on Majesty of the Seas), and ride the Flowrider and successfully be able to fit into the Scuba Gear for the Try Dive while on Anthem. I am used to people making comments, but I shouldn't have to deal with or hear things like that when I'm on a vacation. I'm just going to dinner to order what I want and enjoy it, not have to explain my situation to someone or listen to whatever their commentary is on how big the kitchen is. Statements like that are just unnecessary and inappropriate. I know a big part of going on cruises is enjoying foods one may not be accustomed to eating, but food is not the only be-all/end-all part of a cruise experience that keeps me coming back, especially to Royal Caribbean. It would be nice to see crew be more attentive to and respectful of people when they're done eating. Even if they take one bite of their food and say they're done, we've all paid the same price for our cruise an we should be able to eat as much, or as little as we choose. d.) The Anthem of the Seas is a beautiful ship, but it felt extremely overcrowded at times, especially in the Windjammer during lunch. The crew all did well with managing the large flows of people, but with the maximum occupancy being close to 5,000 (per Wikipedia), that's just far too much. The sailing I was on was sold out and the ship was at capacity, and it showed. The ship's top capacity should not exceed 4500, with 3800-3900 being the top end at double occupancy respectively. This would ease the flows of foot traffic getting around, ease the waiting time on elevators, make finding seats at shows just a bit easier, ultimately just making the overall cruise experience better for everyone onboard.

I'm very much looking forward to my cruise on Anthem of the Seas coming up in 7 DAYS! I'm going to be posting live blogs from my website, but I'll also link to the posts here as well. I just did a periscope about the tech I'll be bringing with me. Very excited, and looking forward to doing periscopes and live blogs from the beautiful island of Bermuda, and wonderful Anthem of the Seas!

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the elimination of Dynamic Dining on the Anthem of the Seas effective with the November 27, 2016 sailing. The deck four restaurants, American Icon and Silk, will become MTD, with a single check-in station in the hallway, and guests will be sorted to one or the other depending on availability. The deck three restaurants, Grande and Chic, will become standard first or second seating with assigned tables. The venues will remain the same physically, but the menus at all four will be the same. Apparently, the changes will start showing up in Cruise Planner in the next few weeks for sailings on or after November 27, 2016.

I was reading some posts on the internet (a reputable source of information if I've ever seen one) and some people think Anthem will go to UK when she is ready. Anyone heard anything?

Anybody have any idea if this is true, a lot of speculation on other boards, http://www.scunthorpetelegraph.co.uk/Musician-lands-dream-job-cruise-ship/story-26268255-detail/story.html I am booked on the 6th May 16 day sailing & we unfortunately don't have the option to book "The Gift" but it is open for booking on the next cruise. This article was spotted by a sharp eyed person & I have checked out the actual website & it seems authentic. Can anybody confirm? Many thanks Donna
