  1. Just checked my cruise planner hoping from some President's Day weekend deals and I saw that Giovanni's Table is 30% off! I've heard some meh reviews on the restaurant, but for $21pp it looks like the hubs and I are having a date night!
  2. Hi there I am a complete newbie to RC and I have booked a cruise - 9th April Allure, East Caribbean Itinerary, for myself partner and Mum and her partner for their 70th birthdays and I really want it to be amazing and feeling the pressure!!! Can you please help me with these q's? - what excursion is a must - what is the one thing we must do on the ship - what time can we board and then please do offer me any other info that will help me!!! or point me to other threads, I've read loads and got some great tips so far thanks Laura :-)
  3. We have reserved a chartered boat through Sonic Charters for St. Thomas on Dec 7th. We are Traveling on the Allure of the Sea Dec. 4th 2016 Sailing. We currently have 2 couples that are heading out for a private tour of the U.S Virgin Islands through Sonic Charters, listed as one of the Top 5 things to do on Trip Advisor (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147404-d3676786-Reviews-Sonic_Charters-St_Thomas_U_S_Virgin_Islands.html). The price includes up to 8 people so we are looking for 1-2 other couple who would be interested in joining us for this amazing trip. We went on a similar trip on the February sailing on the Oasis of the Seas and it was one of the best trips of our lives. We love to have fun, this trip will include snorkeling with Turtles, a Trip to Honeymoon Beach, and anything else our experienced captain will suggest. We love children ( we have 7 between the 2 couples currently going) but are leaving ours at home, so we looking for no children on this excursion. This is the email I received from the Charter Company. We would split the charges evenly between the couples. If your ship is here from 10-7 you could have from about 10:30-5:30 out on the water. It usually takes about a half hour for cruise ship guests to get off the ship and to the pickup location at the nearby marina (5 minutes walking distance) and we usually get people back about 1.5 hours before the ship leaves to err on the side of caution. We only offer full day charters that time of year and the rate is $675 plus fuel. Fuel charges differ depending on where you go. Given the time you have I would probably recommend staying in the USVI rather than going to the BVI like you mentiond. You could spend time around St John, Water Island, St. Thomas and the little uninhabited islands which is a great option and one that avoids British Virgin Islands customs to allow more time on the water. We have some great snorkeling spots here in the USVI and our captain knows some great secluded beaches as well as some great stops for lunch and drinks. If you did this, my guess is that fuel would be between $100-150. Our captain's make sure each trip is customized for our guests whether it be snorkeling, beach bar hopping, visiting the most popular spots, checking out some of the more hidden local spots or a combination of all. We would also need to include a tip for the Captain in our split costs. As I mentioned the last time we did this trip it was amazing! If you are interested just let me know and we can meet up when we get on board. You can give cash to the captain directly there is no need to pay anything upfront. Looking for forward to another great trip in a few days!
  4. Has anyone stayed in the Oasis or Allure Family Inside Staterooms. I believe there's only a handful of them and they're on deck 11. I just booked one for my family for 2017 (room 11147) as the Kid's Sail Free + 30% off made it roughly $1,500 cheaper than it normally is. I'm just wondering if this type of room has bunk beds with a wall in between the main room and the bunk beds, or if it's just one giant room with pullman beds that come down. If it is one giant room, how have you been able to make it so that one kid can get some sleep without being woken up by everyone else? I ask because I've got three daughters, all under the age of 5, and I'm wondering how the best way is to get them to sleep, take naps, etc, while my wife and our oldest can hang out in the room and watch tv, etc, without waking everyone up? I've thought about bringing some shower curtains and hanging them up off of those ceilings (I know it sounds tacky, but it's the only thing I can think of and the ceilings seem conducive to being able to hand something from them) and creating a barrier. On our last cruise, with Disney, we had an Oceanview Family Stateroom and it had a curtain separating the bed from the rest of the room, which worked really well for sound and especially for light. Any pictures of the room would be greatly appreciated, as well as explanation of how the room is set up, and any thoughts and suggestions on how to best make it work would be so helpful. Thanks in advance!
  5. We have booked a cruise on the Allure - so excited! We selected a D4 balcony cabin on deck 9. I am trying to figure out whether it has the bed by the closet or the balcony, and have heard conflicting info. Some people say to find the nearest connecting cabin, take the right hand room, and then alternate balcony, closet, balcony, closet from there. Others say that ALL triple and quad cabins have beds by the closet. According to method 1 we have booked a 'bed by the closet' room, and would love to have the bed by the balcony. According to #2, there's no point, since they're all the same. Would love to hear from anyone who has booked this category. Also, I have seen photos with the sofa bed open for the night, and it appears to almost fully block the balcony doors. True, or is there room to maneuver past and go out on the balcony? I tend to wake up in the middle of the night and like to go out and peek at the ocean, but don't want to squeeze past DD sleeping in the sofa bed and possibly wake her up. If the bed is by the closet, how much room is there between the bed and the closet? DH is 6'4" and want to make sure he has room. We have only ever sailed on DCL, so are used to larger staterooms. Thanks!
  6. I will be on the Allure in a few weeks on the Eastern Caribbean cruise. I will be visiting St. Maarten, Nassau, and St. Thomas. I have been researching excursions for the ports and just wondered if anyone who has been to these ports had any "can't miss" suggestions on things to do? I don't snorkel. I am thinking about Maho Beach in St. Maarten so that I can see the planes land but I don't know if I want that to be an all day excursion. I have also read on Trip Advisor and Cruise Critic that 'Bernard's Tours' in St. Maarten is pretty good. Has anyone used them? Also, if anyone has any suggestions about Nassau (was thinking of the Paradise Island waterslide and lazy river package. Is it worth the money?) and also St. Thomas, I would appreciate any and all feedback.
  7. Hello All, I will be on Allure of the Seas in February and I am very excited. I am calling it the Superbowl Cruise since it is during the Superbowl! Anyhow, for those of you who have been on Allure before, can you tell me how the food at the Windjammer is onboard? I have heard that the Windjammer on Allure is not that good. I cruised on Vision of the Seas this past May and I thought the Windjammer was pretty good... Hit and miss but overall good. Also, what speciality restaurants are not to be missed? We stuck to the main dining room and Windjammer on Vision and would like to branch out more this time. Thanks in advance!
  8. Hi there, I am planning an amazing anniversary party for my husband for this next week's sailing of the Eastern Caribbean on Allure of the Seas. We sail 9/14/14. I need one more stateroom to qualify for a "group event". I need someone who booked through RoyalCaribbean.com that will share their reservation number with me (or call my group representative and give it to her directly, if you don't want me to have it) to cause me to qualify for this group event. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I really want to make it happen for my amazing husband. Thank you, in advance!!
