I should have known better since the Legend was retired. There's only one LOS now, so that was my fault.

Enjoy. I use MEI travel myself, which is a sponsor of this site, for both Royal and non-Royal cruises. Just booked another cruise with Michelle at MEI and have cruises booked with her through 2020 and just returned from one to the Arctic Circle with Holland America that Michelle booked for us.
Enjoy. I love those little last minute fun cruises. I used to do them all the time when Royal still had a ship in California.
    Added. Great ship!
    Have fun!

Enjoy your first cruise. The Brilliance is a great ship.
Have a great trip. I love the southern itinerary.
Have fun. I love Barcelona and have two cruises from there over the next year.
Enjoy! There are other posters on this sailing with you, too!

DocLC reacted to Galveston Steve in Galveston Nearing Deal On Oasis Class Ship, New Terminal!
Thanks to @Wilson for tipping me off to this!  Today's Galveston Daily News is reporting that the Port is near a deal with Royal Caribbean to bring an Oasis Class ship to Galveston in late 2020.  The Port says Royal Caribbean would build the terminal on land leased from the Port of Galveston.
The full article from the Galveston Daily News requires a subscription, but here is the full text:
    GALVESTON - July 15, 2018
Port of Galveston officials are nearing an agreement with Royal Caribbean to build a third cruise terminal at the Port of Galveston that could cost $85 million and bring the world’s largest passenger ship to the island in 2020.
“We’re working toward a really good agreement,” said Ted O’Rourke, chairman of the port’s governing board. “It’s a great opportunity if we are able to put it together.”
Port Director Rodger Rees in March announced that Royal Caribbean wanted to bring an Oasis-class ship to the island, but that doing so would require a new cruise terminal.
The port already is home to two cruise terminals at piers 25 and 27, but the size of the Oasis-class ships requires additional support, officials said.
Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class ships, of which there are four with more planned, are more than 1,180 feet long and capable of carrying more than 6,200 passengers.
Officials are discussing putting the third cruise terminal at Pier 10, next to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics and BMW vehicle processing plant, Rees said.
“Right now, the talk is about having Royal Caribbean come in and build the terminal themselves, then we’d have them lease the land from the port, sharing in revenues with them. We’d control the parking aspect of it,” Rees said.
Royal Caribbean officials did not respond to a request for comment by deadline Friday.
The proposed facility would have to be about 155,000 square feet, port officials said.
The BMW facility would not have to move under current plans, Rees said.
The benefit of having Royal Caribbean build the cruise terminal would be that the port wouldn’t have to take on substantial debt and would, instead, be able to focus on its substantial infrastructure needs, Rees said.
Ever since the Carnival Celebration made its first voyage from the island in September 2000, the port has come to depend more and more on the cruise business for revenues.
The port depends heavily on revenues from cruise ships. Port officials anticipate about 55 percent of revenue budgeted for 2018 will be cruise related.
Port officials are projecting operating revenues of about $37.4 million in 2018 against operating expenditures of $37.2 million, according to documents.
“This doesn’t use up our borrowing power to build a new terminal,” Rees said.
Addressing dilapidated facilities at the island’s public docks could cost as much as $250 million, a problem exacerbated by the fact the port is projected to bring in only about $250,000 in net income in 2018, port officials said.
For a third cruise terminal to be ready to host an Oasis-class ship in the fall of 2020, officials will need a project planned and designed by about November, Rees said in a previous interview with The Daily News.
There is not yet a final agreement with Royal Caribbean, and all details of the proposed third cruise terminal could still change, Rees said.
The Wharves Board of Trustees must approve whatever agreement is eventually reached with the cruise line, Trustee Elizabeth Beeton said.
The Port of Galveston is a landlord port, which generates much of its income from lease agreements with maritime tenants and fees related to ship calls.
The port is home to three year-round Carnival Cruise Line ships, one year-round Royal Caribbean ship, one seasonal Royal Caribbean ship and a seasonal Disney Cruise Lines ship.
The Carnival Vista, the cruise line’s newest and biggest ship, will arrive at Galveston’s docks Sept. 23.

Even the USA-version AMEX Platinum card has a few more perks to make the annual fee more worth it.
With any card, as long as you are getting positive value in it, it is worth it.

The dining packages offer a good value and I did the 5 night one last cruise mainly because I had sailed extensively with Royal and was looking for something different from the main dining room. Since this is your first cruise, I'd say go with the included options as you can always buy the package once onboard if the food isn't to your liking.

You should receive a schedule of the week's activities in your cabin on the first night. If not, ask at AO for a copy.
During sea days, the programming runs from 9-12, 2-5, and 7-10 with extra charger hours from 10 p.m. and later. Some nights the kids will have the opportunity to dine with the AO staff and other kids at 6 p.m. where they will take them up to the Windjammer for dinner. You usually need to sign up for this a few hours before. Occasionally, they will have activities around the ship, but it really depends on the ship. On the Oasis class, I don't recall any outdoor activities; however, on some of the smaller ships they did have some activities on the sports deck.

There are a lot of choices besides sushi. They have ramen bowls, hot rocks where you grill your own beef, chicken, seafood, or vegetables, among a variety of other offerings. The Mochi ice cream is also a nice treat for dessert.
The menus at the specialty restaurants do not change, but there is an alternate menu for lunch and I have seen a "special" offered in Giovani's occasionally.

You're welcome. I fell a little behind because of work and my mom being in and out of the hospital, so everything was back to normal about a week ago until I was offered a promotion at work. As a result, things could get crazy again for me.
For San Juan, $490 does seem too bad. I think we were in the $600 range last time. Sadly, I was able to fly from Los Angeles to Paris for $550 R/T during the same time of year as when we went to San Juan. We plan on taking our nieces on the Freedom group cruise, so I'm not looking forward to that airfare bill. On the upside, MEI was able to get us a Promenade View Family Cabin at a really good price and it's huge--essentially two cabins made into one, so there are two bay windows, a bunk bed alcove, two sofas, etc. Just wish there were two bathrooms.

The comedians were so good on the Allure that we went and saw them multiple times. If you show up 20-30 minutes early and line up, there's a pretty good chance that you'll get in. We were never turned away, but once we did have to sit apart as standby guests.

I haven't stayed in a promenade view room yet (have one booked in 547 days), so I can't compare. However, I did stay in a Central Park View room on the Allure and absolutely loved it. We stayed in room 9593 and @Matt did a photo tour of the cabin using my photos. You can view that tour here: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/01/07/photo-tour-of-category-cv-central-park-view-stateroom-allure-of-the-seas
I really liked the design of the cabin, but particularly liked the window seat and the view out to Central Park. It has been one of my favorite cabins to date and I really liked the extra seating provided by the bay window.

I do. It's LOUD! We were in room 7094 (extended balcony), which is the first room off the Centrum. It was very loud and the music carried well into the cabin. If you were down the hall, it would likely not be noticed, though.
We were able to cope with the noise using a white noise app on our phone, but light sleepers who go to bed early might have problems.

In Juneau, we like to take the shuttle bus available on the pier out to Mendenhall Glacier and hike out there. We've also done Mount Roberts Tramway and that provided for some nice views and hiking, too. Although touristy and a bit expensive, we did enjoy Tracy's Crab Shack. Personally, I'd go for the crab bisque over the legs. The bisque was phenomenal.
In Skagway, we did a Yukon territory tour by bus. Very scenic and we had the opportunity to see bears along the way.
Ketchikan is a fun town to just walk around and explore in my opinion.

Just to clarify, none of the cruise line guaranty to wait for you. They guaranty that you'll get back to the ship, which most of the big, independent turns will guaranty, too. However, if the ship can wait, they will for their own excursions but not for independent ones. That said, for any excursion with lots of parts or lots of travel, I'd opt for a Royal excursion out of comfort.
