  1. We’re staying at Doubletree near the airport. Sail date is Sunday the 25th @ 8:30 pm. Ports are St Thomas, Antigua, St Kitts, St Lucia, Barbados. I don’t remember the order LOL
  2. Flights to San Juan !! Tell me about it !! Cost me almost $1300 for 2. Not sure I would’ve booked this cruise had I known this ahead of time. ?
  3. I’ll be there 2 weeks from Friday. We were booked into Embassy Suites and a few months ago they made contact and informed us we were cancelled. Not sure why, but I assume it’s storm related. I didn’t do the booking. Now we are booked into Doubletree.
  4. I’m doing southern carib out of San Juan in 2 weeks on Jewel. 5 ports. Can’t wait.
  5. Very interesting thread. Are y’all saying that the CC you paid for the trip with becomes, in essence, your “travel insurance” ?? They’ll refund you if you can’t go, after final payment ??
  6. Jurrjurr, you couldn’t be more right about the airfare to PR. I’m doing southern carib out of San Juan in 4weeks. I don’t know that I would’ve booked it had I known the airfare would be almost $1300 for 2 And that doesn’t even include baggage fees which of course we havent paid yet. Ridiculous.
  7. Actually, your room attendant can open your bottle too. The fee is only if someone at a bar or restaurant opens it for you.
  8. Brandon = Goldmember ? He claims to be “almost platinum” And I claim to be almost pinnacle ?
  9. Does anyone know the app that you can find out what ships will be in port with yours ??
  10. I was onboard for a SB. It was on at the pool as well as everywhere else. You won’t miss it.
  11. i leave my wallet HOME. I have a leather passport folder that has slots for cards. All I bring is credit & debit cards, and my license. THATS IT. Of course I guard this folder with my life for the entire trip. But I see no need to bring store cards, concealed carry license, membership cards, time card from work, etc. But hey, thats me.
  12. i still say they should tow a dinghy behind the ship with a rope ladder attached, and smokers have to climb down to it to smoke
  13. Ok veteran cruisers,, I’m looking for some recommendations. Going on Jewel in February, and will be calling on 5 ports I’ve never been to. St Thomas,, St Lucia,, St Kitts,, Barbados,, Antigua We are Beach people. I have no interest in sightseeing, history, rum factories, or shopping. Without doing an all inclusive, what suggestions do you have for these ports ? Taxi to public beach that has food/beverages available sorta thing. Ready,,, GO
  14. I'm certainly no expert, just a worry wart cruiser ?, but I saw a weatherman yesterday who said only about 10% of hurricanes located where this one is will make landfall in the US. I assume it's far enough south that we will be spared. I surely hope so.
  15. I cannot imagine flying in the day of. I'm flying 2 days before the GC, and 2 days early for Jewel out of San Juan in February.
  16. When you see SALE, take notice that it also says "off onboard prices". Your eyes see it and think its 25% off what YOU paid, but thats not it at all. :-(
  17. That would be my question. I think I paid somewhere around $1K pp for our balcony on the Harmony GC. How much less would a room in the same category be ? $800 pp ? I think I agree with Billy, I see no reason not to take that savings, though I've never done it. But I am intrigued. Not sure my wife would agree with my intrigue though. Takes us 3 tries before she accepts a table at restaurants ?
  18. Cant help you if its historic/sightseeing in Cozumel you're looking for. My wife and I are beach people. If you are beach people, I'd highly suggest an all inclusive beach day at either Mr Sancho's or Nachi Cocum. Full disclosure, I have not been to Nachi yet, but Im hearing amazing reviews and am booked there for the September GC. I have been to Mr Sancho's, and if Nachi is anything like Mr Sancho's, Ill have quite the day. They both cost $55 pp for the all inclusive. Great beach, chairs, food, drinks,, all for $55 each. These are NOT booked through RC. Google them, all the details are there.. Enjoy !!
  19. very true, but apparently this is just coincidence and not related to negative feedback
  20. Thats nothing. Try hitting "find a cruise" and see what happens LOL
  21. this is weeks old WAAY. There were rumors that RC was pulling out of Falmouth because there was so much negative feedback on the Falmouth stop. Turned to be just that, rumor. The negative feedback is real though. IMO.
  22. For me, Galveston is like driving to the grocery store. "Just down the road a piece" (about 4 1/2 hours). We leave on Saturday and meander down toward Galveston and stay in a town called Webster. Great place, lots of hotel choices and every restaurant you can imagine. Then Sunday morning we have about 30 minutes to the port. We have coffee at Starbucks across the street then when its time, we drop the bags off, my wife gets in line, and I go park the car at EZ Cruz parking. We have it down to a science. So after the next 2 "flyaway" cruises, we will get back to this routine. Maybe the occasional flyaway cruise, but the airfares are really causing me to reconsider. $600 to Ft Lauderdale, $1300 to San Juan !! I'd rather do a 3rd cruise each year than give all that $$$ to American Airlines.
  23. I use EZ Cruz parking. I pay $48. Very inexpensive and convenient. Been using them for years
  24. Waaaay ? You know the old expression, be careful what you wish for !!! I've seen these people on bar crawls. It's not a pretty picture. ????
  25. I've always wanted to be a pirate. "We are the September '17 RCBlog Group Cruisers and we demand control of this ship !! Release the Krakken !! Turn over your stemware, and let the girly drinks flow !!! Ayyyyyyyye !!!!!" Be afraid,, be very afraid ?⛴
