The Quantum repo from Singapore to Brisbane is available and the prices are pretty good.
I got a balcony for 2 at $A1900 each

Anthem is going to Singapore after her summer 2024 season in Europe. This was confirmed to me by the Captain when I asked on board at Captain's Corner last Sunday. He said he couldn't say any more than that for now so I don't know any dates or if there will be a repo from Europe to Singapore.

I must agree... I'm over Ovation and Quantum. I found the 24/25 season offering pretty stale and a bit boring. It would ha been nice to see a few Melbourne/Hobart/Adelaide cruises. We ended up booking one of the Hobart/Adelaide Ovation cruises (November).
I personally would prefer to see a Voyager or Freedom class ship down this way (Would love and Oasis… but will settle with… anything but Quantum at this stage). It just feels a bit the same same.

Same thing happened to me in January. That last minute cross country flight was brutal. But it had to be done and I'm glad I did it.

Updating my will to include a provision that if i die on a cruise ship I want my body dumped overboard, not hauled back. My family and friends can honor my memory, not my dead body.

I got Covid on Ovation a few weeks ago, I have had it before but it really knocked me around this time.
We had dinner in the MDR at a large table. The woman sitting next to me said she had Covid. I thought she was joking and said so how did you just get on the ship?
She said she lied, about 4 days later everyone that was at the table had Covid.
Like you said why bother with people like that around.

KWofPerth reacted to twangster in How would RC respond to DCL's latest move to homeport their newest and largest ship in Singapore?
Ultimately Royal will place their ships where that asset can generate the most profit. Only Royal knows how easy, or hard, it has been making Spectrum profitable in Singapore. That will be part of their decision making process regarding future Singapore deployment decisions.
An airline picks the type of aircraft for a particular route with a desire to fill it flight after flight. If they can fill a plane consistently they might consider a larger plane for that route. If they can't they might consider a smaller plane for that route. This concept is called "rightsizing".
Cruise lines do the same but with other factors in the equation. Adding capacity through a larger ship requires not only the ability to sell out the ship consistently, the business case may not support it if they think they can make more money with that ship homeported somewhere else. It's not enough to make money if they can make more money with a different deployment choice. "Rightsizing" the ship to the market will be a factor in the process.
DCL is a specialty boutique cruise line that caters to a very specific target consumer. DCL will win some consumers in the market and those are consumers who are not booking a cruise on those dates on a Royal ship. Even if that "win" is a one-time event or a repeating one, DCL will take some consumers out of the market. If NCL, MSC or Carnival was the other cruise line that would be a different matter. Those cruise lines are not speciality lines. They compete more directly with Royal and they would take many more consumers out of the regional market.
Cruisers will pick DCL if they want the Disney experience. No ship in the world from any other cruise line is likely to stop that effect. In this regard the DCL ship isn't going to force Royal into a response such as putting their newest ship in Singapore. That's not to say Utopia isn't going there but if it does its unlikely DCL played a role. If Utopia goes to Singapore it will be because that is the best strategic decision for that ship.

Could just be they picked Singapore because its an Airport Hub so easier for people to get to!

Excluding Expats living in Asia, there are probably only 5 countries that side of the world that I can think of where cruising would be something the average household would consider as a possible vacation...Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand and for a lot of them cost will come into the equation because not everyone who cruises is a High Roller..

I don't think the Singapore market is competitive in the same way like some other cruise markets. It's a very different market so the dynamics are different.
Disney is also an interesting option for a market that is highly influenced by gambling. Will gamblers without a family choose the Disney experience for a gamblers getaway? Will a gambling adult couple really care if the ship's whistle plays a Disney tune? Without kids how much of a competitive threat is Disney? They may be appealing to families with young children but what about families with teens or families where the kids are grown adults?
With my kids grown and adulting now Disney has zero appeal to me. Disney at twice the price of Royal has twice the negative appeal to me.
Disney's cruise line's biggest problem is their very narrow target market which nearly always involves children. Who goes on a solo Disney cruise as a grown adult? Kind of creepy really. Must love being around children, others people's children. Count me out.
DCL may barely dent Royal's market in Singapore. Only time will tell.

KWofPerth reacted to CrimsonCruiser in Sky Pad Will Discontinue the VR Bungee
Seems like I'm in the minority so far , but I had a blast on it on Odyssey. I would definitely have done it again if I was on a ship that had it.
That said, I can see how it may have issues.
My "blast" was partly because I ended up using it wrong. Easily swayed by the VR I kept my legs curled and used apparently quite a lot of force when jumping. On lookers said I was twice as high as other participants and swinging all over the place. I SWEAR I tried to follow the rules and keep my legs straight but the virtual rocks and mountains I was jumping over sent signals to my brain to duck, tuck, dodge and swerve lol. I apologized profusely to the staff monitoring me and while he took it in good humor, I think I could tell he definitely had had a hard time. I'm sure to him it looked like I was intentionally doing whatever I wanted. I'm sure the staff are in worse position to get kicked in the face or worse, not to mention other issues such as what @Ampurp85 mentioned.
I'll be sad to see it go, glad I got my chance, and interested to see what comes next

KWofPerth reacted to Montemy2419 in NCL reversing course bringing back the E-Muster.
I love doing the muster on our own because before you were all checked in but waiting on the few to finally show up. This way our cruise can officially start instead of waiting on the few showing up late.

KWofPerth reacted to JasonOasis in NCL reversing course bringing back the E-Muster.
According to The Points Guy NCL will reverse course and revert back to the e-must drill after having received considerable criticism and complaints from many of their guest. In January NCL abruptly reverted back to the in-person drill citing safety reasons and believing the in-person drill was more effective than the e-muster. However many of their guest including most of NCL's most loyal guest made their displeasure known and now the company will reverse course and bring back the e-muster. Beginning April 1st all NCL cruises will revert back to the e-muster to the delight of many of their customers.
Neither Royal or Carnival followed NCL in eliminating the e-muster and according to The Points Guy there is no word on whether Disney will change course and bring back their e-must drill as well.

We loved it. While on the ship we agreed that the smaller ships are the way to go for us. Service was excellent everywhere, no queues for MTD, could always get a lounger around the pool and very few children. It didn't feel crowded despite being virtually full. We compared it to our previous sailings on Anthem and agreed the Schooner bar and Windjammer on Anthem just aren't big enough for the number of passengers. As it's just the 2 of us now no need for bumper cars or flowriders, just looking for friendly good service. Ship was in good condition considering her age, carpets and furnishings all looked good, bit of rust here and there but nothing that spoilt the cruise. Cruise director (Mey) and her team worked hard and kept us entertained.
My only one niggle was the DJ was too loud during sailaway, but that's probably because I'm getting old 😀
