    4.  There is a shuttle that leaves from the Venice transportation hub, Tronchetto.   The shuttle leaves at 11 am and arrives in Ravenna around 2 pm (it is a 3 hour trip from Venice to the Ravenna port.  You have to meet the cruise representative no later than 10:30.  When I booked the shuttle, I was told to meet the representative at 9 am, but apparently this information was wrong.

My e-docs from RC say meet at 8:30 and transfer will leave promptly at 9:00.

I also very much enjoy those moments when I'm not wearing it and some blabbermouth D+ is sitting at a bar like they are king of the cruise world telling everyone within earshot how much they know, most of which is wrong

I have a family member like that who is an instant expert on any place they have ever been. Even if they have only been there once.

Wear your pin for whatever reason. Don't wear it for whatever reason. In the end, does it all really matter. No, it doesn't.

It seems to be the viewers of the pin imputing the reason for wearing them as being to show how important they are.  I haven't heard any wearer express they are wearing them for those reasons.

If they were wearing them for that very reason, I don't suspect that they would admit that. I'm not saying that all people wear them for that reason, but you can't deny that some are. No matter how small the percentage. Just saying. I wonder if Super Mario ever wore one? I'm going to guess no.

    Good perspective.  Thanks twangster

I agree. I guess it all depends on the reason for wearing it. @twangstermakes very good points why somebody should wear one. Others are just showing off how "important" they are or it can be a prideful sense of accomplishment. We'll never know the truth in most cases. In general, I feel that if you have to show people how "important" you are. You really aren't.

I am totally in a flap about this, we don't even go until July 2023, these costs for transfers by any of the ways mentioned are astronomical.  Ravenna appears to be the most out of the way port I have ever seen, with no airports nearby at all.  It is so unfortunate that cruising is not as simple as it first appears.  Is not as cost effective as it first appears and its making me totally anxiety ridden at the thoughts.   EEEEEPPPPP

The airport in Bologna is about an hour away and RC offers shuttle service to and from as it does to and from Venice.  We're flying into Venice and out of Bologna and airfare was about the same from either place. We decided to fly out of Bologna to cut the return trip to the airport by 2/3.

  6. For those of you that have sailed out of Europe before, what are the main differences that you have seen in the MDR as far as food offerings go between US and European sailings? I'm excited to experience some different offerings on our Greek Isles cruise leaving Oct 9th. I'm hoping for some bangers and mash and possible some streaky bacon. Anything else I should be on the lookout for?

    What about the Windjammer?

getting mochas or cappuccinos from Cafe Promenade were included.  We now are getting enough C&A drink vouchers to forego the DBP.  Looking at other offerings for coffee and the likes.

The refreshment package would be the way to go then, you'd get everything you got before, sans the alcohol and the huge price tag.

As was just posted, there is no such thing as an unlimited coffee pass, unless if you buy her the refreshment package that costs about $30/day. You can buy her a coffee card, but that is NOT unlimited by any means.

The refreshment package is an unlimited drink package that includes everything except alcohol. Soft drinks, coffee drinks, bottled water, juices and mocktails. And if you can check a sale, usually around a holiday or especially Black Friday, you can usually get a pretty good deal. I bought mine for $19 a day. This price depends on specific ships and or sailings.

When looking for a travel agent, what do you look for? Close proximity to your location?

what about AAA? Are they considered adequate/good travel agents?

How did you find a wonderful travel agent?

I like many others here have great success with MEI. They are a sponsor of this blog. That's why I started to use them, but that's not why I continue to use them. They have great service and have saved me quite a bit of money over the years. Everything is done online with us, so it doesn't matter that I'm in Illinois and our TA is in Washington state.

No and yes.  You may be charged per espresso shot.  The original language in the coffee card states drinks rather than shots, but the practice on many ships has been to punch for each shot.  One guest had success complaining nicely to the manager that the Cruise Planner doesn't state "shots".   Others, like me, have typically been charged per shot.  For drinks that don't use espresso, you may find more flexibility.  I used to get a chai tea for my wife at only one punch.

As @ChessE4stated it is usually one punch per shot, but like a lot of things on RCCL, this seems to differ from ship to ship and crew member to crew member as reported by many people here.

We’ve booked a transfer using RCL from Venice City Centre to the port in Ravenna. But I can’t work out where the pickup is in Venice. I’ve called RCL and the person didn’t know.

Anyone have an address for the Venice City Centre location for pickup??  Thanks.

If you are taking the shuttle from the City Centre the pickup is outside of the Venezia Tronchetto, which is the people mover station on Isola Nuova. You should be able to find it on Google maps. That's where we boarding the shuttle.

The screenshot above though has it in hours. I have a question in to Royal through Facebook messenger and still waiting for official word. I asked Sunday and they said it could be a day or so before they got back to me. Yesterday they messaged me and said they hadn’t forgotten me lol

I'll be eager to hear what they say. We'll be on Brilliance on Oct 9th out of Venice (Ravenna).

I have a 1 BR ATS reservation for our Dec. cruise on Harmony. We got this suite because my daughter’s family was also going with 3 young ones. So we could watch the shows and the kids could play or nap while watching. They are no longer going now so we would like to go to a Sky loft suite. We booked in Dec of 21 and got our room at just over $7k for 8 day cruise and the sky suite then was a couple hundred cheaper. Well now the sky are over $10k  (ATS are all booked) so would I have to come up with $3k to in reality step down in a room according to RCL pricing when I originally booked?

Have you tried contacting RC? If all the ATS are currently booked, it would seem like they would easily sell yours at a premium and move you to a CLS if one was still available. Might be worth a try? You never know.
