  1. @MelissaM and @Pima1988 really enjoyed reading your thoughts regarding the dining on Adventure. We have not sailed her since our very first cruise back in 2002 and next July, we are most likely coming full circle back to her for a 9 night Canada/NE cruise. I am positive that she is a very different ship from what we remember. My question for both of you, or anyone else that has sailed Adventure recently, is do you think the UDP would be worth it seeing that there are not too many specialty options on board? Or would I be better off grabbing a 3 or 5 night package?
  2. I am sure @twangster must have one in his vault ?
  3. James Van Fleet just shared this on social media. This is being played on board the ships.
  4. You’re on Oasis in March?? When? I am on March 15, 2020.
  5. Sorry, I thought you were on board at the moment and talked to someone about that. I forgot that the app has the menus. I know right?!!! I love that dish. Next time ask them to toss grilled chicken and shrimp into it. It's even better that way!
  6. Curious minds want to know if you can find out...Why does Allure do a completely different rotation than the rest of the fleet?
  7. ^^^+1 To me, the Diamond Lounge is like a refuge from the chaos.
  8. I don't know about the JS but I have heard of one case where they allowed this for a Star Loft suite. The child was under 2 at the time of sailing. Obviously, it also depends on if the ship has maxed out on it's life boat capacity or not.
  9. I agree. A JS is basically just a larger balcony cabin with a little extra space and double points. I think that the $1500-2000 difference between the JS and the GS is pretty typical from the prices that I have looked at. It was about that for Symphony as well. Sometimes, closer to sailing you get lucky and the price gap becomes less. That is usually when we make the jump. What it really comes down to is that we are all different types of cruisers. Only you can decide what amount is worth the jump. It's hard to quantify because each person values different things while cruising. The trick is to know what you like and go from there.
  10. Really hoping that this won't be the case with Oasis as well....
  11. Another solution...Our kids know that it is really hard for Santa and the Tooth Fairy to visit them in the middle of the ocean. ? Jokes aside, we celebrated our daughter's bday last year on Mariner. We brought everything, presents, decorations, etc. They did not say anything.
  12. Nope. +1 This is exactly what I do. At the moment, I have several bookings for March 2020 and July 2020.
  13. My latest strategy for hotel bookings is that I book a refundable rate and watch prices. When it drops to something lower, I re-price or switch it to a non-refundable.
  14. I know right?! lol To be brutally honest, I am not a good person to tell you if hotel pricing is fair. I am a total hotel snob and very few hotels make my list of potential properties to stay at. I am 100% guilty of factoring convenience and amenities above most other things. But because I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency at MCO 3 times in recent years, I know the prices I paid, and I can tell you that mid-$250 USD is on the low end of what I've paid for that property.
  15. Sorry missed that part about the ship. Even then, talking to wait staff and CK managers through the last year, I have come to the conclusion that it really depends on the chef. An example is Anthem. First time on Anthem, I did not like their lobster either. This past summer, it was really good and presented totally different.
  16. Dress code: no different than the MDR or other restaurants. My favourites: Filet Mignon, Pork Belly, Braised Beef Gnocchi, Grilled Tofu, Braised Short Rib, Wild Mushroom Consommé, Cauliflower Fried Rice. Desserts: Crunchy Chocolate Bar, Valrhona Chocolate Bar, Coconut Tapioca, Baked Alaska, and Coconut Custard. They also have a really good cheesecake.
  17. I would have agreed up until I went on Symphony. The lobster in CK on Symphony was fantastic! So it really depends on what ship you are on and then chef at that time. Overall food quality is way better in CK than the MDR.
  18. That would not surprise me if eventually it went to that. Other than Anthem, all other JS guests on Oasis class ships have had trouble sometimes getting into CK every night. In fact, I have heard on most OA class ships, they will only take JS reservations by the day, upon availability. I've heard/read many reports over the past year of people in JS not being able to get all 7 days, sometimes just one or two nights. In fact, that is what drove me to get out of our JS booking on Symphony last month.
  19. You probably did and I likely did not read properly. Been running around like crazy all day! ?
  20. Wow! Small world! That's awesome! I've had my eye on that resort for a while now, but it's so far from La Bamba! lol
  21. Wow. That's awesome that they allowed him to that at the kid's price! I wonder if it's one of those things that really vary by ship as far as how much they enforce it. When we were on Indy last year, they told my daughter, who was also 12 at the time that if she wanted to order off the adult's menu that we would be paying full price for her. @ChrisK2793 I feel like this is one of those things where "Your mileage may vary" and you're taking a chance. It may go either way...
  22. Sunil will likely still be on because he just got back mid-July and they usually have 5 month rotations (unless they get extended). Not sure when Reyno and Berty are leaving. But Andre will be back by the end of September so that means one of them will be off. And Marla left when Sunil came back and going with their usual 6-8 week vacation time, she should be back by the end of September. Sunil said she was coming back when we last saw him at the end of July. If I had to guess, I would guess Sunil, Andre, and Marla. That group is fantastic.
  23. Lol! In that case, you don’t want to know what I consider a “good price” for the Intercontinental in Miami then ? ...or the dreaded but beautiful Disney Polynesian ??
