Interesting....and I am actually surprised more haven't thought about this...although i am sure the logistics of doing something like that is huge and of course we keep hoping its just another  month or two and we can start getting back to normal so why look into adding/changing home ports.
 
But we all know this isnt going away anytime soon and god help cruising  if Covid-20 ever comes along....?

I'd cruise from Cozumel.  The additional travel costs would keep us from cruising multiple times a year, but I'd rather cruise less than not at all.

Man I hope these cruise lines start thinking outside the box on where they can start cruises other than USA and Canada!    If the new administration for the CDC wants to keeps kids home instead of going back to school, the cruise lines in my opinion have NO chance this year!  What a shame.

That's exactly his point.  Since Hawaii is domestic there is no testing requirement for that 10 hour flight.  However a short 40 minute flight internationally does require testing.  It seems that the science of 10 hrs vs. 40 minutes doesn't make sense.

You do realize that flights from Nassau, Bahamas, is an international country versus Hawaii which is the 50th state? Hawaii is considered Domestic just like Alaska.  Did you play hookie when they taught this in school?  ??

I hope one of the topics in the near future is "FIRST CRUISE TO LEAVE A SOUTH FLORIDA PORT IS (FILL IN THE BLANK)"

....... some revenue is better than no revenue. I don't disagree with you in principle, Twangster. I'm just reading the tea leaves here. If the CDC of the Biden administration continues to make it impossible for the cruise lines to operate from US ports, the industry will go elsewhere to survive. This is a corporate survival strategy not intended for the long range. 
I also think the industry is looking to tap into the Asian market and, if travel restrictions ease in Europe and Asia before they do in North America, assuming the mRNA vaccines are as effective as the recent Israeli studies indicate they are in preventing new infections (there's a new study released today from another public health unit studying this that asserts a 70% decrease in new infections among the control group receiving two shots), the industry isn't going to sit on  it's hands waiting for the CDC to greenlight sailings from US ports. JMO.   

Had Jamaica booked for March Spring break but change to San Juan today as it is considered a domestic flight so you do not have to test to fly home from SJU to US.   So it was the Cruise lines first, now it's the Caribbean islands the CDC is screwing!

We were on the Harmony for our 20th so It may be fitting to be on her for our 25th. 
Funny part about this cruise, we are parents that are very active with our children even on vacation, spending time together as much as possible.  They are horrified that we are considering not bringing them.  Even though they are gonna be 21 and 17, we will never complain they still want to spend time with us!    Hope that never ENDS!
