  1. Is it the Bahamian government that is requiring the vaccine or Royal? "Some Cruise Lines" Who? I would love to see one of our active older population from the US be told from an american company they could't scuba dive because of their age. Maybe for medical reason. Think AARP And comparing scuba diving to the vaccine is totally unrelated. Here is a definition of "vaccine" and "scuba diving" a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease. the sport or activity of swimming underwater using scuba gear. And while you have made several good points about things that were going to happen that didn't happen, cruise lines have tossed the idea of requiring vaccines on cruises that leave from the US. If our government puts pressure on the cruise lines to make it mandatory is where I see a major problem. My wife just made a simple suggestion (I love her), if you choose not be to vaccinated, offer to be tested everyday and wear a mask in doors. And if you test positive you will quarantine in your stateroom.
  2. Unfortunately, I just read this headline on another forum "Royal Caribbean CEO Bayley Highlights Role of Vaccine in Caribbean Cruising". So it would not only be Bahamian laws we need to be concerned with! He mentions North America throughout this article.
  3. I don't think it's beyond the cruise forum. You don't think we have mom's on this forum to be concerned about this? It's a tough question that Royal is going to have to address. I know we have people that could give top level thoughts (for those of us that aren't savvy lawyers) some general direction.
  4. A female friend of mine brought up something interesting about Royal requiring the vaccine for cruises out of Nassau. She will not get it because she is concern about the possible affects it might have from the time of thinking of having children to having the child. They have NO research on pregnant women or how it may affect the baby if pregnant. Wouldn't this be some type of discrimination not letting her cruise because she doesn't want the vaccine?
  5. I texted my son that exact question and he confirmed what you just said! He is an aspiring pilot and loves aviation.
  6. My look into the crystal ball says, Freeport will be the next port Royal bases a ship from! Grand Bahama International airport has a 11,020 foot runway which can easily accommodate 737 aircraft. Bahamas Air just placed an order for 737's for Royal's charter service (Just Kidding LOL)
  7. I like your thinking! Once upon a time, people said Royal would not start cruises outside the US ports based on the CDC being sticklers (bite my tounge). IT COULD'T BE DONE! We now have two out of Barbados. And no matter how you would like to twist the story, it happened!!!!!
  8. Good Evening, It's nice to see this thread is still having activity. Oh I remember when they said it would never happen, to many obstacles. I hope they all find a home outside of the US so they can stick it to the CDC and our Government. Unfortunately, many people are out of jobs because of this so I do feel so bad for them. Hey, maybe it might turn into a life changing event and they move to where the jobs are! Always in awe when I watch that cable tv show where people pack up and move to an international location.
  9. Thanks for the great amount of information in regards to the carriage of contract. I on the other hand try to find the short, sweet and to the point answer. This will all be a mood point when Royal realizes that making the vaccine mandatory for cruising out of the US would not be a good move. We shall see.
  10. Why can't people who want to the vaccine get it and those who do not want it wear a mask. We have been told by the current administration that it's the best way of spreading it. IT CAN BE THAT SIMPLE! Also, I would need some clarification from this board but if Royal thinks that making the vaccine mandatory, does the carriage of contract exclude them from being responsible if you get it on board? I am going to say no!
  11. So if they are going to determine that getting the vaccine is the safest alternative for the greatest good, they better be ready to protect us from all colds and viruses on the ships that they sail. It will be expected from the paying customer since they are getting involved in our health decisions.
  12. All of these vaccinations have been established for years!!!!! And without getting over my head, these are very different from the COVID. The MMR vaccine has a 97% effective. Can you remind me how long the COVID vaccine has been around? Can you also remind me of some of the long term (and I'll give you two years) affects it may have on people? What is the current number of people who have had both doses and have gotten COVID? I actually have the shingles vaccine on my radar, why, I'm 51 had the chicken pocks and the vaccine has been around since 2006. And I heard that shingles stinks if you get it.
  13. I also respect your opinion, that's what makes our country great, however, we have had many public health issues in the past that businesses haven't forced any vaccine upon us. So I guess if the cruise lines decide NOT to REQUIRE the vaccine when cruising resumes out of the US, you will not be cruising? Norovirus was just an example, you could look at many other medical conditions you could get on a cruise from another passenger or crew, it may not result in death, but can affect your health. Sorry, it was my common sense approach to this horrible disease. Lastly, Governor's around the country have had very different approaches to this pandemic, and from the flock, heard, mass exodus of people moving to Florida from states that have different rules, is a good sign people think he is doing a good job. And many of these people are from both sides of the aisle.
  14. Your health is your own decision and no one including businesses or the government should mandate what you put into your body.
  15. SIMPLE DON'T REQUIRE IT! END OF STORY! MOVE ON! GET OVER IT!
  16. I like this thinking! This is copied and pasted from the Mayo Clinic web site, Complications For most people, norovirus infection usually clears up within a few days and isn't life-threatening. But in some people — especially children, older adults and people with compromised immune systems — norovirus infection can cause dehydration. Norovirus infection can cause severe dehydration, malnutrition and even death, especially in people who are older or immunocompromised, or in women who are pregnant So if a vaccine is developed for Norovirus will the cruise lines try to make it mandatory as well. Where DOES it Stop?
  17. Yes both are choices that people make, however, a cruise is a business that is for people to utilize as a vacation, vaccine's are medial treatments for people to decided on their own. Business aren't the ones who think they can make these decisions for you! If that was the case, they would have required many medial treatments or vaccine's that would elevate other types of sickness that could spread on a ships.
  18. Good for Him!! The CDC and Government is pushing the vaccine and it should be the choice of the person! Not the Government, CDC or Businesses!
  19. Good Morning, I will first say I have nothing wrong with people getting back out and enjoying the things we were doing a year ago, even events like air shows. Maybe those Politicians that continue to attack the cruise industry, look at the web cams on Coco Beach today. They would have a melt down!
  20. So sticking to topic, these Politicians are putting a strong hold on the cruise lines but Air Shows will be in full force this summer. And I don't know how many people have gone to a air show but you are packed like sardines on the beach.
  21. The next thing I see them coming clean and reporting more on are the side effects, I am sure more will be reported with such a new vaccine but I hope they aren't severe! That is the risk everyone is well aware of when taking the needle to the arm!
  22. Good Morning, I really didn't know where to post this article so I picked this one! Finally giving the public a dose of reality that full vaccinated individuals are STILL getting Covid19. And like the article said vaccines aren't going to be 100% effective, people will now know it's a possibility. Just reporting what our lovely news outlets (aka journalism, yeah right) have to say this morning. Multiple outlets are reporting on this today. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2021/04/13/986411423/a-mystery-under-study-how-why-and-when-covid-vaccines-arent-fully-protective
  23. It's going to get real interesting when the good old HIPAA law takes effect. What information or documentation will Royal have access too? My thought is just the the vaccine card will be required. We Will See.
