  1. "Evening chic" -- I wonder what I can get away with wearing on those nights? Oh yeah, it's only a suggestion so I can wear whatever I want! I'll go for the standard, but enjoy leaving the ties at home. Suprised Celebrity was 1st in RCI to change the standard.
  2. Bravo. - dead on target! Sadly the standard is now all about "me" and what "i" can get away with and to hell with everyone else! If RCI allows that standard then just change the standard!
  3. Suggest you focus on enjoying Old San Juan! If that means boarding nearer departure time no problem - just don't be late of course. Since everybody attempts & recommends "beating the crowd" by boarding early, boarding early is most likely more crowded. Enjoy your Port of Embarkation city and board when you want and go with the flow as you will with any boarding time. You will be on the ship all week and have plenty of time to explore the ship. I've never heard of a cruise line running out of food, so getting to the 1st day buffet zoo is not all that essential. If you are a traveler immersing in the local culture will be much more rewarding than rushing to your week long digs - the ship is not where you are going, but rather how you will get there! Don't forget to stop by Barrachina, 104 Calle Fortaleza, for the best Pina Colada in town, they discovered it!
  4. We have only done it once, with no problem. It isn't your basic tug boat, but a large moden well equipped passenger ferry. As i recall the ride is only about twice as long as the Belize tender and much smoother ride than any tender we have been on, especially the ship life boats. If you don't have problems on tenders I would think you are ok! As i recall, larger than the ferries at Bermuda! Hope you experience Playa del Carmen & I'd recommend Tulum excursion!
  5. Recommend not ruining embarkation experience by dragging water aboard - not worth the nickels & dimes you will save! Board light so you can be mobile & enjoy the ship while you wait for cabins to become available!
  6. What are the Military rules? Active Duty, Retired, or any Military Service?
  7. I too am amazed at the level of negative comments and the apparent indifference to them. I have attemted 3x to get an answer to feedback from our recent Serenade voyage to no avail. It's like sending smoke signals in a wind storm! We have found the competition does care! Another Emerald cruiser lost before Diamond! #fasttracktobecomingjustanothercruiseline
  8. Definitely stay in Old San Juan - within walking distance of everything ex-beach! Start your exploration the 1st day with San Juan Food Tour - Trip Advisor & web site for info. Great history & culture exposure + great food!
  9. You should have been a hypothesistician! I agree, and think you have broken the "let's raise our profit" Code. Check out the one page MDR menus, choice is a fleeting (no pun intended) concept.
  10. We always book inside cabin & stopped onboard booking when they reduced incentive by 75% , a paltry $25. Competitors are still offering $100!
  11. In Falmouth them@jamaicaculinary / @jamaicafoodtour is the ticket. Get off the tourist track and discovery the real Jamaica under the watxhful eye of fantastic guides. Two tours, one walking tour in Falmouth all within a short distance of the terminal. 2nd goes deeper along the coast toward Ocho Rios with several food tasting stops along the way - highlight is either Ocean Side Reatruant on Discovery Bay chicken & pork jerk or Woolery Kitchen up the mountain side from Run Away Bay - great acke & salt fish with an incredible view of the Bay. The rum punch is the best in the Caribnean. The tour hosta Janet & Anne Crick will take great care of you and you will have new friends for future visits.
  12. I'd give it up! Booking it yourself was a good choice! Suspect you will do a better job looking out for your interest!
  13. I agree, stay with the inside and use the savings for another cruise - double your days at sea! We've been over this, there are some others out there that will let kids go free and do 7nt for 4 under $1000!
  14. I agree with the social media light up!
  15. They are VPs with Celebrity, Azumura, & MSC -- suspect you would find others with most cruise lines.
  16. I have gone through entire Royal Caribbean VP list & can't fine one listed on social media - have sent inquires or comments to @royalcaribbean Twitter and never got reply! Unfortunate they are not accessible! Try message to sister line execs @dondreCel, @LarryPimentel,@Dsclifton ; or competitor lines @jeffherzfeld, @msccruisesusa, @kenmuskat, @rickcazzell and you will usually get an answer before the sun goes down and often witin minutes or hours - whether you are Concierge or Inside, Diamond or 1st time cruiser. It is impressive. Try it, you'll like it and ask, so what's up with Royal? If they remain unresponsive, I think other Royal Loyalists will join me in enjoying the reception from the competition. And by the way, the problem is much deeper than drink prices - overall quality and service level is suffering from profiteering - drastic crew reduction is probably great for the bottom line, but isn't good for the Royal Caribbean experience. Maybe an approach is to invite them to read Matt's blog!
  17. Subjecting passengers to 11 sea days in a construction zone vs a short dry dock is great for the new profit at all costs objective! I wonder how many of the already over loaded crew members will be pulled from customer service to refit? Recommend 4905 pax light up social media!
  18. I bet if 5400 people show up 2 to 3 hours before the cruise has asked them to, at least 2700 will complain about the cruise lines inability to manage the boarding process and causing 2 or 3 hour waits - interesting concept?
  19. I agree also - i have chosen to book future cruises with competitors because i could no longer justify the loyalty cost. RCI is simply letting greed for profit to overshadow customer satisfaction. In the past 12 months we have cruised 3x and have 3x future booked - sadly none are RCI. If enough people choose competitors they may get the message. Drinks on one of our new cruise lines for example are $85 +15% Gratuity for book of 18 drinks, thats about $4.75 a pop. If you continue to Pay $12 prices will continue to go up. We were just on Serenade Last mo. (Booked a yr ago) noticed that trying to find a cocktail waiter poolside even on sea day was like trying to find RTwheresWaldo - if you buy the drink package it was a self serve bar. Stop paying $12 a drink!
  20. You don't have to deal with the smoke to be a cruise ship gambler. Some lines have eliminated smoking in the casino.
  21. There won't be a next cruise until RCI reverses the downward spiral of sevice cuts. They are on fast track to becoming the Delta Air afloat - just another cruise line. They must be using @RTWheresWaldo Consulting Group to set their crew size!
