What Crown and Anchor level is your card actually gold colour?

With the current industry trend to continue to build bigger ships, any chance they will build new smaller ships?
I think, at least with a lot of people here, some of their favorite ships are the smaller ones.
At some point, you can only retrofit the smaller ships to a point to keep them updated with the newest amenities.

I always forget Buick is still a thing.  Can we find a different brand for this comparisson?

Our last holiday cruise, lots of families...lots of orders, lots of trays, all day.  I agree with the poster who talked about the thousands of meals they have to put together daily -- running 1 or 2 item orders all over the ship is cumbersome and probably not very cost effective. 
 
I also plan to "get my money's worth" when we order room service, but it will still only be 2-3 times over the entire cruise that we will use it.  And I imagine it will be the same for most people -- they may have a few "big" orders, but won't order something every day like before.
 
I understand people being irritated though...the roll-out was just so sloppy, and it is harder on those will mobility issues.

So full charge for room service for anything but breakfast.
 
And doubling the cost of it as well.

Is it just me or is Royal really going down a path to differentiate  themselves from the other cruise lines....for what I would consider all the wrong reasons??!

Was just reading the post about the new mobile app RC is creating that likely released this year.  Does this mean more ships will have the bands like they show in the photos on the post?  Or is that just for the upcoming new ships?    Just wondering as it mentions 'being on 20% of RC's ships by end of the year (lousy at math lol not sure if thats just the new ships or including some of the others)    Will be on Oasis later this year (for first cruise ever)

I dont like it because it further discredits the term 'Included' by adding yet another exception. I do really think this will improve quality, but I doubt that's their intention, more of a byproduct in my opinion.

People order the entire kitchen. Not sure how this dish will taste? Order it in addition to your five plates and find out. If you don't like it, oh well.
I'm not trying to shame anyone, I do it to, but this creates an insane amount of work for the staff. They can't just keep running crazy amounts of food all over the ship at all times, they also make THOUSANDS of meals a day aside from this service. That's a pretty big deal when you think of it.
 
I am upset about the charge but also understand that this service is being abused. By adding this cost it will help maintain the crowds at a manageable level.

Dining in the cabin is not always optional, as when there is an outbreak of illness and some passengers must remain in their cabins per direction of the ship's physician. I wonder if these passengers would receive a fee waiver?
 
Also, is the customary 18% gratuity added to the $7.95?

You're 100% correct and stated it very clearly. I'm mad on principle, not on the change itself. Should I let it go? Probably. But it still irritates me.  
Luckily, I'm at the point where I feel comfortable leaving my son in the cabin while I run too to the Windjammer. If he was much younger, that would be a problem. The other concern I have is that the hot options that we previously complimentary are largely the only option for this with dietary restrictions like celiac. They can't eat pastries, so they're basically now limited to yogurt and fruit from room service.
 
Give me another day and I'll get over myself . . . I guess I jumped past denial and went straight to anger (stages of grief). It is also very possible that Royal will offer more in venues around the ship, particularly late at night, to make up for this change.

Just got a letter telling us not to show up at the terminal  till between 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Apparently they have maintenance work to do that requires no guests be on board till after 5:30pm. They are compensating us $25.00 per person in the form of an obc. 

If enough people ask for it, I could see it happening. RC definitely listens to their guest feedback.  Just not sure that many people are clamoring for it

Hello Everyone - Question about the Allure of the Seas - I am getting ready to embark this Sunday on the Allure of the Seas. I don't think I can drink enough to justify one of the Drinking Packages. Does anyone know if there is a Wine Package I could buy one onboard? Maybe 4, 5, 6, or 7 Bottle Package for the cruise?

Makes sence to me, in order to make the packages worth wile.
As it stands right now I can't even justify the soda package. Im not a pop drinker but i enjoyed the options, i probably never got my moneys worth but i didnt mind.
My cruise in december I'm going with no package and seeing how it goes. I'll just bring a refillable bottle to fill with water, lemonade and such. I'll live.
 
I wouldn't be suprised if more people go cold turkey, this cold be the shove they need.

Not knocking triumph, just a sarcastic reference to that one incident. With some of the complaints I was reading, you'd think it really was something that dramatic.

Hey all. RC website now shows the WOW sale is going on -- 60% off second guest, bonus OBC, and $50 off deposit.
 
Just got an email about this from my TA. Saved us a TON as the sale knocked just shy of $800 off each of our state rooms (having originally booked during the end-of-year sale) as well as giving us $100 in OBC.
 
I know there's been a lot of discussion here lately about how the rates really are best if you book 18-24 months ahead, and that they just don't get any better even with promotions; but seeing as we could "only" book 15 months out, I'm really glad our TA Heather at MEI Travel was able to get us these savings!
 
And THIS is why you use a travel agent.  :D 

Not sure if it's fleetwide, but the Deluxe drink package decal was printed on our SeaPass card ("DX" in right corner) for our Jan 5th Indy sailing. No more trips to guest services to have it replaced when it wears off.

Just found this while searching for an example full wine list at Vintages. It's a good use of technology, not sure how long ago they released this video as there's no date I could find on the page, also not sure if / when this is being rolled out to the rest of the fleet. Should be an easy thing to apply fleet-wide as it doesn't require anything more than getting the iPads and iPod Touches and installing the apps / integrating to the ship's SeaPass card system.

You can now order wines via iPad, and the order is transmitted to iPod Touch units carried by the wine tenders. It will recommend wines based on your existing tastes, and everything is displayed in a much wider selection of languages than RCI could manage with printed menus. And if you order in, say, German, that order shows up translated to the English equivalent on the wine tender's iPod Touch (or, I'd assume, whatever language that person set as their preference).

New trademark by Royal Caribbean called, "Perfect Day".  It is described as for Restaurant, cafe, and bar services; providing food and drink.
 
I am guessing this is the name of a new restaurant.  Any ideas?  Also, it's possible this is not for RCI, but for a sister company since trademarks are filed jointly.
 

Many have seen the new $15 Sabor sale in the cruise planner.
 
I see it too for our upcoming Harmony sailing, but it's still showing the ala carte menu??? I called Royal this evening to ask what we actually get for $15 since all Oasis class ships are ala carte at Sabor. They told me they are in the process of eliminating the the ala carte menu and it will be a cover charge only restaurant fleet wide. Remember...this is the "Rumor" thread and only time will tell if this is true.
