  1. I also wonder if they would make one if asked at the WindJammer? I've seen postings where people have asked for things at the WindJammer that were not offered at that time. (ie., gravlox, slightly modified dishes due to allergies or spice level, etc.)
  2. I wonder if I can order it ahead of time on Anthem? I imagine they have all the ingredients in the kitchen to make it. Just needs a dessert chef with the knowledge and skill to put it all together - even then, it's not rocket science!
  3. Do you have a link to pics of this fantastic looking Tutti bar?
  4. So my booking company says that I am getting $500 onboard cash or spending credit. I also just applied for the Royal Caribbean Visa card which will get me up to $175 onboard cash. How does that work? Are they notified by the travel or credit company that I have these? Or do I have to bring a voucher, or apply for them on boarding? How do I spend them? As I go along or when I take care of the final bill before leaving?
  5. Finally! Someone who gets my pop culture references!
  6. Would that be "canned" corned beef hash? Or something akin to home fries with big chunks of brisket and sauteed onions and even some green pepper? If it's the canned variety, I'd just indulge that at home. "I want a cold can of corned beef hash and pot of black coffee" - The Chief in the diner scene from "Freakazoid"
  7. This is ridiculous, if these professionals are bothered by someone eating a sandwich in the 10th row of a theatre they would not be very good at their jobs. Which I do not believe to be the case. These performers are extremely talented and I'm sure can look past somebody having in a snack, after all cruising is eating. Snacks to a movie is reasonable. Try bringing in food to a Broadway show. As I recall, on Broadway, they have an intermission to allow people to go out and get a glass of wine and use the facilities. When time for the show to resume, the lights are flickered and a chime is rung, then people must leave their glasses and go back in the show. If you miss the curtain call, you are not allowed back into the theater until the end of the show. That is for a professional Broadway show.
  8. What kind of menu for lunch? Does it reflect a scaled down version of dinner? Or is it a few items from the WJ served elegantly?
  9. I'm going in June. I may pack a few tupperwares to bring some snacks from the WJ and keep them in the fridge for after hours. (some fruit, vegetables and tub of dressing for dipping, a sandwich, or some cold fried chicken, etc.) Stuff that doesn't have to be heated. Are there microwaves in the rooms?
  10. The way I hear people complaining about room service trays cluttering the hallways, I got the impression it was a fairly commonly utilized service.
  11. OK. Here it is: http://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/03/16/royal-caribbean-shares-new-fleet-wide-room-service-menu
  12. EXACTLY! Next time, instead of spending on a cruise, I may just fly to a destination and put my cash into hotel room service and other local dining options.
  13. I just pulled this from another site. Have not yet seen a press release: As of March 2017, RCCL has begun charging 7.95 for each Room Service order. This charge will become fleet wide by the end of May 2017. A continental, cold breakfast, of pastries and the like, is still free. A hot breakfast of any kind, such as eggs, meats, etc., will require payment. NEW "UPSCALE" ROOM SERVICE MENUS are the catalyst for this charge, according to the RCCL website. We compared the new menu to menus we saved from our 2015 and 2016 cruises, and this new menu is not much different that the last one. In fact, some favorites, such as the honey-stung chicken, are gone. It is still mostly a 'snacking' menu, with only one or two true entrees.
  14. Makes me wonder if there is a possibility that if the ship had to make a sudden turn (or a sudden gust of high wind), would someone on the water slide fly off and into the ocean?
  15. OK. First things. On your plate in addition to the sushi rolls, you will see a small, thumb-sized pile of green dough. That is to cleanse your palate. Just pop it in your mouth and roll it around to prepare your tongue for all the flavors.... Okay just kidding. When one of my friends first went for sushi, he did not realize it was wasabi, a horse-radish condiment that you mix in with the soy sauce to give it a little kick. If you try it undiluted, you'll get a kick alright! He swallowed it whole! This is a good instructional: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqJHjulSheI The following is for fun. do not follow this as real sushi ettiquite:
  16. ....Actually. come to think of it, do they serve sambar with the indian selections?
  17. WATER!?? Never touch the stuff...Fish fornicate in it! - paraphrased from W.C. Fields
  18. You can also bring little pouches of powdered Gatorade and mix onboard as needed. Unless Pedialyte is your brand of choice. Gatorade is a bit more concentrated with sugar and electrolytes. So I would dilute it a bit more than normal mixing. https://www.amazon.com/Gatorade-Endurance-Formula-Powder-Sticks/dp/B00IYZN0Y6/ref=sr_1_3?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1489176164&sr=1-3-spons&keywords=gatorade+powder&psc=1
  19. I'm planning on wearing my US Army Dress Blue uniform with a black bow tie. Or just a jacket and tie. Depends on my mood. A lot of high end restaurants in Manhattan still have loaner ties and jacketds for people who do not meet the dress code - usually something really out-of-date for the current fashion. Do any of the boats do this?
  20. Good to know. I'd never met a duck I didn't like. Even the somewhat gummy Duck L'Orange served in my college dining hall had some appeal. Sad that RCCL didn't get the knack of it.
  21. Would be good if they had someone adept at dosas! I like a good egg dosa! Or rava chili and cheese dosa with a good sambar.
  22. It appears duck is no longer on the menu. And maybe some lamb dishes.
  23. How often do they have Indian food on the Windjammer? What kinds of curries? That's the only thing that got my wife interested in going on our upcoming cruise. Other than that I felt like the Schwartzenagger character from the movie Total Recall who was trying to get his wife to go on a Mars vacation!
  24. With all the food available, I'd hat to be a sloth and have it DELIVERED to me! Best that I go walk a bit for a snack to trick myself into thinking I'm actually going to burn off the calories!
  25. So how do these comps work? I'm guessing they give you a card that you use at the tables or machines like they do in land based casinos? Then, they track how much is played during the time you are there? ie. I start the card with $20 and end up with over $1500 winnings, so they register me as having $1500 in play for a certain comp level?
