  1. If you don't pick a shore excursion, what do you do in port? For instance, when we go to Grand Cayman, we stroll over to the Paradise Cafe. I ordered a cheeseburger so I could say I had a cheeseburger in paradise! Actually, i usually get the local beer and conch fritters. I am particularly interested in Cozumel, Roatan, and Belize City. But I'd love to hear what "no excursion" people do in port for fun. Thanks!
  2. We always stay in Galveston at the very least the night before we board.
  3. We are getting excited about our holiday cruise! Already booked lots of activities, including restaurants and Chef's Table -- Who else is going, and what are your plans?
  4. Is there a galley tour on Liberty of the Seas? There was on Navigator...And can you sign up ahead of time?
  5. Cruising the Liberty at Christmas -- Hoping to book Christmas 2018 on board. Sounds like there's a tiny chance I can do that!
  6. My personal feeling on the drink packages is that it is not yet a mature product for Royal Caribbean. As time goes on, I think they will tweak it and offer some different combinations more in line with different people's drinking habits. Maybe a package that just includes a selection of wines with dinner, or something like that. I'm waiting it out: For what I drink, it makes much more sense just to buy the drinks when i want them.
  7. I've always brought a tux. We never do formal pictures on land, so having the tux means we have Christmas Card pics for a few years.
  8. What's the deal with the penguins? What are your favorite bars or specialty restaurants? Did you do the Chef's table and what did you think? Does Liberty offer the "Cook's Tour" of the kitchen? (They offered that on Navigator). Any ship secrets we should know? Thanks bunches!
  9. I've been on two cruises on the same ship, but with different embarcation ports and different destination ports. However, our cruises out of Galveston seem to visit the same destination ports. That's OK -- I don't love the ports so much that I am repeating them: it's more that the ship is a bigger part of the experience for us: The floating luxury hotel for a week. And the ship rotations have kept that pretty fresh for us!
  10. My wife and I cruised on Navigator of the Seas November 2015 -- Our first experience with Royal Caribbean. Loved the promenade concept of the ship -- That was really a focal point. However, the very best thing about the ship was the California Wine Pairing dinner we had at the Chops Grille. Wonderful! We are cruising on the Liberty of the Seas December 2016, and the very first thing we signed up for was the Chef's Table Dinner. We are looking forward to it. What are the coolest or most unique things you have found about the ships you have been on? I am particularly interested in Liberty, but eager to hear what everyone thinks. -Ukulele Cruiser 10/09 -- Carnival Conquest 10/12 -- Carnival Conquest 11/15 -- Navigator of the Seas 12/16 -- Liberty of the Seas 12/17 -- Norwegian Pearl
  11. We are going to try Sabor on our upcoming cruise over Christmas. I am a bit disappointed in the reports on the guacamole -- The making of that is a show in itself at most upscale Mexican restaurants around here. Hopefully, we'll have a better experience.
