Kinda agree with both of you on this one.  While I don't think a 'nowhere' cruise is likely to happy, between the port limitations of the big ships and the focus on the onboard experience, it does seem the port stops are more or less a formality.  That, I think, is the biggest downside to the Oasis class, as well as the overall direction RC is heading.  Pretty much you can do St. Maarten/St. Thomas in the east, or Haiti/Jamaica/Cozumel in the west, and as the bigger ships make up more and more of the fleet, the itinerary variety is gonna be more and more limited.

Hey, I kinda like that bridge.  Besides, it's not the only barrier to having an Oasis in Tampa.
A few years ago I heard some rumors about them developing a new cruise terminal somewhere beyond it (supposedly down around de Soto).  Maybe they should revisit that idea.

Money's the bottom line.  Royal's primary focus, and their biggest draw for a lot of people, is in maximizing the onboard experience, and the Oasis class' size gives them the greatest capabilities in that respect.  It also gives them the greatest flexibility for testing new innovations, as well as for future refurbs and modifications.
As for production spans and whatnot, this is a reflection of the sheer increase in scale.  As things get bigger and more expensive, you're going to see the time scale grow, too, and, yes, they're going to see them use some designs (especially such a successful one) longer than they used to.  You'll probably see the service lives of the ships themselves get longer, too.

Just don’t trust anything on the app as far as times. It’s notoriously inaccurate. Go by the cruise compass. Although I found the menus on Mariner to be accurate.

However when you book an excursion through Royal, it will return prior to departure.
There are plenty of signs and announcements when the ship leaves and when guests need to be back on board.  Trying to say they looked at the app a couple months before sailing and one or two excursion came back at 5pm is a weak excuse for missing the ship.

I went for a foward-facing ocean view this last time on Oasis.  Was a nice spot, and surprised me how big it was, but took me about the first three days to stop smacking my head every time I went to look out the window

Ok, I can definitely say I am more productive after a cruise.  Got back on the 27th, and can say this past week's been one of the most productive I've had in a while.  A couple days ago I noticed a change, though.  I sail again on Friday, and seems the post-cruise euphoria from one wore off just in time to transition straight into the pre-cruise anxiety of the next, and I'm in full-blown useless mode again.

If prices dropped they are trying to stimulate sales.
I like to joke we see it when the next interim payment is due on current ship being built.  If they need an influx of cash, put it on sale!

Now that I've finally found the elusive email and am waiting on that first golden ticket to appear, it got me wondering a few things about how it works.
Is your bid a set amount, or function as a max?  Say I bid $1000, and the next highest bidder only bids $500, do I win at $1000 or, say, $505?
I got offers for both a junior and a grande suite.  What happens if i win both? Does it default to the higher of the two, or does it give me a choice?
Can a pending bid maybe interfere with printing my papers?  I've been trying to print my set sail pass and luggage tags for the last 4 days, and cant get in.  Didnt know if maybe it's because it might well change (though i can't imagine RC's IT to be that intelligent)
Lastly, anyone feel like waiting for that won/lost email is about the same as waiting for that imminent sail date that just wont hurry up and get here?
