  1. Can't beat either the Freedom class or the Oasis class of ships. If cost is no option, go big on Oasis/Allure/Harmony as soon as you can. Many unique features on these ships that aren't available anywhere else. If you're looking for something a little less costly but still a phenomenal cruise, Freedom class is the way to go. Of the three, Liberty (sailing out of Galveston, TX) has the most to offer for kids with the recent addition of water slides on the pool deck. Any of the 6 ships in these classes will provide you the opportunity for a wonderful, memory-making cruise. Hope you have a great time
  2. GoPro 5 looks like it's going to be a marked improvement in form, function and, quite surprisingly, cost. I want to read a few more reviews before committing but I may have already found my Christmas present that my wife can get me
  3. Hi - long time reader or the blog but, I'll be honest, I hadn't even noticed the message boards until Matt mentioned them in a podcast recently. Usually went to CC instead for message board stuff; glad to have this option now as well Name is Rob - from Kentucky, but now living in Ft Myers, FL (on the SW coast of the state, about halfway between Tampa and Miami). Initially skeptical of cruising but after losing my cruise virginity to Adventure of the Seas in 2001 I am now a full fledged addict. Ironically, my wife (who was the cruiser that got me going) is now the one I have to push/pull to get to go on the cruises! Have sailed on Adventure 2x, Enchantment 1x, Liberty 2x, Allure 3x and Independence 1x. Have bookings on Harmony (Nov 2016 & Apr 2018), Independence (Dec 2016 & Apr 2017) and as soon as it opens we're going to book a Baltic cruise (likely on Vision) in July 2018 Happily married - step dad to two kids (one out of college, one going back for Bachelor's Degree #2) and father to triplets (two girls and a boy). Also parent to various dogs, a cat, a turtle and fish.
  4. I can help (a little) on the first two questions: 1 - Yes, it's offered on many cruises (7 nights or longer, i believe) 2 - On a very recent podcast, Matt talked to a guy (maybe it was an e-mail) that used a service like this. It was $25/bag but they took the bags to the airport and got them checked in for the passenger. 3 - If you prepay the gratuities then there's no expectation to pay anything else (but you certainly can if you want). For the bartenders, I usually tip $1/drink (and i buy the drink packages where the 18% tip is already factored in as well) Have a great cruise
