  1. I'm getting antsy for our cruise in a couple of weeks, and have pretty much run out of things to check on the RC site. So this morning I decided to check out the Gifts and Gear section. I see that they have the Unisex Terry Slippers on sale for $7.00, and figure, "Hey, my wife is worth $7.00...I should order these for her to use in the cabin." My question is on their sizes...which seem kind of odd (or maybe they aren't if you are a slipper buyer). They offer two sizes: Womens 6 / Mens 5.5 and Womens 10 / Mens 8.5. Does anybody know what this means? Does that mean the smaller size begins at a women's size 6 and goes up to women's size 10....or does that mean it is literally for a women's size 6? (Meaning, maybe they are out of the other sizes and those are the only two sizes they have left.) Sorry for this dense question. Thanks
  2. We headed out on Navigator on 11/23 for four days....can't wait.
  3. The way I read it is it that you must use your BOGO on day 1 and day 2 in a specialty restaurant. Here is another question regarding the BOGO..... Can you buy two "BOGOs" and then take four people to dinner on one night (instead of two people to dinner on two nights). For example....I buy two BOGOs (one for my wife and me)...but then my wife, myself, and two boys go to Chops for dinner one night.
  4. Yes, and that is what I thought as well after reading the posts on this board. However, when "marti" stated (above) that he has had no trouble getting refunds even after being paid in full and outside of the 100% cancellation penalty window, I had a glimmer of hope.
  5. So how did you do this? I called tonight and tried to get a refund or onboard credit and was told the only thing they could do was try to get me an upgrade.
  6. Thank you for the replies...good information. We are still up in the air about doing a tour that requires the ferry. I have heard horror stories regarding the comfort of that ride, and my wife tends to get motion sickness...so not sure we will be venturing over or not (my kids want to go see the ruins, and I kinda do too...but not at the expense of my wife or all of us feeling awful for the day).
  7. I saw on another board that there are going to be at least five other ships in Cozumel on our port day. They estimated over 21k people from all of the ships in port. Given that there will be so many people in Cozumel that day, is it a bad idea to plan an excursion that uses the ferry over to Playa del Carmen (such as one of the ruins tours)? I don't know how many passengers those ferries can take (or how many ferries they actually have)...but with those numbers, it sounds like getting aboard a ferry to cross, might be a nightmare. Anybody have any experience with these ferries and if this will be an issue with this many people? Thanks
  8. I just printed out our cruise docs yesterday and noticed that the earliest boarding time listed begins at noon. Is this the "normal" time that most cruises are listed to start boarding?
  9. Thanks for the replies. I wasn't thinking of anything "specific"....just looking for some good recommendations (and that is what I got). It sounds like good hygiene and general health practices, that should be practiced regardless of going on a cruise, are what we should follow (though the Imodium recommendation was a good one :D ).
  10. My family and I are booked on our first "real" cruise coming up in November....so this site has been a wealth of information for me as we prepare. A question I thought of yesterday is on any health precautions that you guys take before going on your trips. I am one of those who is about 50/50 on whether I get a flu shot on any given year. However, we are all going to get one this year being that we are flying down to Florida and then on a ship with 3000 + of our closest friends. It just seems like a sensible precaution (and, I agree...we should really do this every year regardless of going on a trip or not.) My question is, other than the obvious flu shot....are there any other health precautions any of you take before taking a trip such as this? I'm not so much worried about picking up some weird disease on our one day in port...but just generic crud from being around so many people in a somewhat "enclosed" space, sharing food and utensils at the buffet, etc. I am by no means a germophobe, but just got to thinking about any other precautions that might make our trip (and afterwards) more enjoyable, after getting my flu shot yesterday. Thanks
  11. Along those same lines...what is a customary tip on a cruise ship for room service (i.e. how much do you usually tip the server that brings the food to your room)? Thanks
  12. If the cruise before yours happens to be a TransAtlantic cruise, is there a delay in boarding for the following cruise? I read on another board that passengers on our cruise in November would not plan on an early boarding since the entire crew would have to go through immigration before we would be allowed to board. Our cruise in November is out of Miami...but the ship is arriving from a 13 day TransAtlantic cruise. I want to get on board as soon as possible to enjoy an "extra" day on the ship...but don't want to get there early only to have to wait for hours while this process completes. (Hope this post makes sense.) Thanks
  13. We are sailing on the Navigator over Thanksgiving out of Miami....and can't wait. Where I am wondering if I will have any "issues' with my current arrangement is basically with the Sea Passes. If I understand those correctly, those are "everything" to you onboard (room key, validation for which drink packages you have, etc.) Having me (and one of my sons) in the "wrong" room might end up being kind of a hassle with our Sea Passes. Do you think RCL would allow me to put my two boys in the interior room and me in the balcony room so that our Sea Passes would all be correct? Or should I just deal with the minor hassle and leave things as they are?
  14. I booked a cruise on the RCL website for my family of four (me, my wife, sons age 18 and 15) for an upcoming cruise. I booked two rooms directly across the hall from each other; one balcony and one interior promenade view. When I did the reservations, I had to put a guest over 21 in each room in order to complete the reservation. This puts my son and I in a room, and my wife and other son in the other room. The plan was to just have the boys stay in the interior room and my wife stay in the balcony room. However, I am starting to realize that while it may work...there may be some issues with this arrangement (by the way, this is our first cruise...so I am new to all of this). Will RCL allow me to switch my wife and I into the same room and put my boys together in the room across the hall (even though the oldest is only 18)?
  15. I have seen posts that say if you order a cocktail that is not included in your drink plan, you just pay the difference (i.e. my drink plan covers cocktails up to $10.00 and the drink I order costs $12...I get charged the additional $2.00.) Does the same thing work with the non-alcoholic drinks on the Royal Replenish package? If my wife decides she wants a "real" pina colada, can we use that package to "buy" the non-alcoholic version and just get charged the additional couple of bucks to add the alcohol? (Sorry, I am a total cruise rookie and not sure how all of these plans work.)
  16. We are cruising to Cozumel in a little over a month and had a question about currency. Basically, how does it work? * Do you just use dollars? * Are you better off getting your dollars converted to pesos? * Where do you do these conversions? * Can you convert back to dollars at the end of the day if you don't use all of the pesos? * Any other tips for how the currency situation works in Cozumel? Thanks
  17. I apologize if this has been discussed in another thread, but I couldn't find it using Search. Anyway, my wife is not a drinker, but does like the non-alcoholic versions of several drinks (pina colada, etc.) What is the cost of the non-alcoholic versions of these drinks? (Trying to figure out if it is worth it to buy the drink package that covers these) Thanks
  18. The only reference to alcohol I have seen was that he was seen at a Brickell (sp?) area bar prior to going out on the boat. I don't know that I have seen any direct info on him drinking at that bar though. I was very surprised when looking at the pictures of those jetties, and how far out they protrude into the ocean, that they did not have any marker lights on them.
  19. Got it. We will be traveling with two teenage boys who will probably be logged in constantly...but my wife and I can "share" a login (so I can purchase a 3 device plan instead of 4). When you say "use captive.apple.com"....do you just open Safari and go that site and the login page appears? Thanks again for all the good info here.
  20. Thank you for posting that document. My wife is a "coupon queen", so I will have to let her know that we HAVE to go on another cruise just so we can get our coupons :) Also good info on the show times. I had been looking at my cruise planner wondering when those reservations would show up...and now I know why they haven't. Thanks for the great responses. If you have anymore info on Navigator....please keep sharing.
  21. Got it! Thank you all for your help.
  22. Love that response! Is there anything I want to make sure I do, or don't do while on board?
  23. Okay...I'm sorry for being so dense on this, but I "think" I'm getting it. Tell me if this is accurate: I get the three device plan....we have four phones. My two sons stayed signed in constantly on their two phones. I sign in with my phone....in order for my wife to use her phone, I would have to sign off of my phone...but my two sons could stay signed in on theirs. Correct?
  24. We are sailing on Navigator and really looking forward to it.
